Nonogram Game Tips

There are 2 basic strategies:

1) Consider the possible positions of a group, e.g.:



The only possible positions of the group of 5 reds can only be one of the followings:



In all the cases, the middle 3 blocks are all red, and so you can be sure that those 3 blocks are red:




2) When one end of a group is known, the remaining blocks of the group are also known, e.g.:



consider the green block, it must be the right most block of the green group, and so the position of all the blocks in that group are known:



Example In the game, you can see 4 hints (17 red) for 4 of the horizontal rows, so you can instantly mark those rows as red entirely, because the field is only 17 blocks wide.


And then when you look at the right most column, you see the hint for this column is (4 red) and since you already have a group of 4 reds in this column, you instantly know that all other blocks in this column are empty. And then you can look at the row with (16 red) as its hint, and since the right most block in this row is empty, you instantly know that all the remaining 16 blocks are red. And so on you can solve the puzzle.
