@jana The penalties for desertion include the death penalty, but that hasn't been done since January 1945 in the case of Private Edward Slovik. Prior to that, the death penalty for desertion had not been used since the Civil War. More commonly, a conviction by courts martial will impose prison time, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and dishonorable discharge. At the discretion of the military court, lesser penalties may be imposed, depending on mitigating circumstances. The individual's commanding officer decides what level of military discipline will be applied, starting with non-judicial punishment, which can be informal at company level and has no permanent record, or Article 15 proceedings, which are made part of the permanent record. Article 15 punishment can include extra duty, fines, restrictions, or demotion. The next level is courts martial, which can be either summary or general. A general courts martial requires a general officer as convening authority, and is the only type that can impose the death penalty. Source(s): I'm an Army veteran, 11 months ago
This is a recent post by an army vet, once you join the military you dont have a choice. These are all harsh penalties and some forms of desertion depending on the circumstances can lead to a death penalty. Sure everyone has a choice to join the army or military but you most definitely dont have a choice in what wars you want to fight in after that.
Dont leave neil degrassi tyson out of the picture, hes kind of the new aged fun guy for astro physics, he just reeks of enthusiasm when hes explaining any kind of astro physics. They are both great, and ive checked into some of the people that inspired them but they are pretty dry, and not so entertaining. These are special people that believe in something bigger then life it self, i think that sums up astro physics, Its were we came from, how everything was formed, i can go on and on.
In 1996 and again in 1998, Pulitzer Prize winner Professor Edward Larson of the University of Georgia and Washington Times reporter Larry Witham teamed up to duplicate Leuba’s study in an effort to determine if scientists’ religious beliefs have changed much over the last 65 years. Larson and Witham found that 40% of American scientists still believe in a personal God. This does not include scientists who believe in an impersonal God or in a God who does not answer prayer. Nor does it include scientists who believe in a personal God, but don’t believe in the immortality of the human soul. If we were to take them into consideration, the percentage would likely be higher.
Its amazing that so many people that are scientist lead their whole lives to proving a theory and disproving theories, thats whats science is about, fact over spirituality. However theres so much unexplained it would be ridiculous to believe otherwise.
omg someone posted on this! im going to check them out and i might blog about, dark matter is amazing. dark matter accounts for 23% of the mass-energy density of the observable universe. In comparison, ordinary matter accounts for only 4.6% of the mass-energy density of the observable universe, with the remainder being attributable to dark energy. From these figures, dark matter constitutes 80% of the matter in the universe, while ordinary matter makes up only 20%.
Now i beg to differ, we have no IDEA how big the dam universe is yet scientist still love to project the theory based on what we know of as far as what we can see. Dark matter might just be in high volume in this area while the rest of the universe is widely open spaced. Still its amazing percentage from what we do know to be dark matter as far as we can see, this kind of massive weight seems fictional yet it exists. ill get more into this thanks so much for the direction i cant wait to look more into it.
RE: My theory on God.
i forgot to mention our astroid belt which catches most asteroids and keeps them in orbit.
