your story reminds of this one; about 15 years ago a fight broke out between husband and wife, he was beating her badly, another neighbor called the police, the police officer tried to stopped this madness, then, the man and the woman attacked the police officer, he called for back-up, and both, husband and wife were arrested for agression against a police officer. True Story.
