Although being an Indian this type of instance is not unfamiliar for me! So nothing special into it! However, will wait for MORE TO COME… several possibilities, isn’t it?
I think I know already some about your country and has a plan to visit there within next 3 months. But I may stay somewhere at chon buri and will concentrate at BKK more this time for a particular purpose. @Amir2 Thank you for your concept of commonality among religions. The concept was known to Indians even 3000 years ago in the Gita, Sri Krishna says all religions are different paths to reach me (God). The HINDUS believe in this doctrine and respect all religions as sacred and do not take the help of sword (as Muhammad did) to preach Hinduism! You have spoken against idolatry! No Hindu worships the idol as such, but to facilitate the idea of God and his omnipotence have conceived idols to represent God.
Can you spit on a picture of your great grand father who is dead? Why not? You can not do so because your great grand father comes to your mind’s eyes whenever you see the picture. So also the images of gods and goddesses bring to the Hindu’s vision the concept of the beloved god as affectionate father or mother. Try to understand the philosophy behind a practice developed for thousands of years. I would advice you to read Romain Rolland’s MEMOIRS OF RAMKRISHNA AND MEMOIRS OF VIVEKANANDA as you are a student of comparative religions. Romain Rolland was a Noble prize winner & world renowned historian and philosopher and a French man.
Finally, let me convey to you that the source of the Hindu religion is the VEDAS composed at least some 7000 years ago wherein no idol worship is promulgated! Hymns are only praise of the SHAPELESS God.

@EHSAN314 and to every NICE & tolerant friend here… Now we are getting how man use religion to divide people and turn on WAR, conflict etc. Yes EHSAN you are absolutely right … some human beings are undoubtedly STUPID! Unfortunately I highly doubt will they ever wake up or not!!!
Reversely if ‘she’ is 16 years younger than you, parents/society may agree still I don’t think it’s normal. In such a case even ‘love’ may fade away! I think wise decision is not to jump in such a relation. It will not be good for you and she at later stages… say after 15 years.
16 years? Actually I didn’t think for so many years gap! I mean less than 10 may be ok because biological problems may happen in later time! But you need to justify which is your first priority… I mean you need to sacrifice a lot for the success of this relationship which will be definitely difficult at your personal front.
I understand what you mean. But I think it will depend finally on you. Our parents are somewhat conservative but it’s time to change. I think argue with parents will never solve any issue; you must be patient enough to convince them and to make them understand that ‘she’ is just a woman like thousand women. Nothing unusual and you feel comfortable with her and vice-versa. Society? After someday society will adopt everything but at the beginning they criticize everything.
I think you are absolutely ok. My ‘she’ is also a mature woman and I’m happy with her! You take it as very normal and treat her as ‘soul mate’ only; strike through ‘mature’.
