I read the story today and it was sad because the man was mad about his space being invaded. And the prosecutor convinced the jury that this plan to protect himself also meant he would shoot to kill.
UNFORTUNATELY! The man was wrong by the code of law. I am speaking of California law but it seems to be the same in Minnesota.
The law states that you can defend yourself in the manner you are being attacked.
If those kids would have brandished a gun then the home owner could have shot them. But not in the back if they were fleeing.
Justified? It's kinda hard to say "Yes" because some kids will not learn from this episode. And a future victim of such a crime as this could be punished as an aggressor.
They have done the same thing to the California plant. But here, Texas Governor Rick Perry, made some pretty tasteless remarks against California.

One of my most favorite cartoons is one named "Mutts". It's main characters are a cat and a dog. The cast of these cute critters include a grouchy cat that "comes on" the panels every Monday and he hates Monday's too.

Yes we do. It's just that when men are trolling they try to decipher the woman's response as well. If it looks like an ok situation then we start to "talk". Then we start saying "things". And these "things" sometimes come out as stupid remarks.

In California land is very expensive. If you find something "acceptable" it would be remote and the necessities of water and waste removal would be exorbitant to haul in and haul out. For example, you would have to be able to be near a waste dump station and the cost to "dump" is about $20 now for a 30 gallon tank.
But fortunately, California has created low income housing for seniors and this trailer park is one. It is centrally located to many businesses and very reasonable. My rent is $450.00 a month and I pay nothing for electricity and water. My only expense is propane gas.
So, yes, one can find reasonable accommodations and they are pretty much available.
