I'm a rancher and come from a long line of farmers and ranchers. I was in a marriage where my husband traveled for days at a time. Yes, I think a long-term relationship could work very effectively.

I am so very sorry. I, too, lost a child that never got to take it's first breath so I have walked your same path.

I left the abusive relationship by changing the locks on my door, getting a large dog with a healthy appetite and loud bark, putting re-bar in my windows, changing my phone numbers and then living with my grandparents (whose house was like a well built fortress) for a time to help heal physically and emotionally. I found that once I cut him out of my life, the healing began. Supportive friends and family are a big plus as well.

Sounds like your friend is trying to find his "fountain of youth" with younger women. Stick with women your own age and you can't go wrong!

As an ordained, non-denominational minister who has walked a similar path to yours when I was your age, I can fully understand where you are coming from. It's weird, but I've never felt the need to prostheletize to others about Christianity. That's just not my thing, plus it's invading another person's space and/or belief system. It should be about respect and dignity. I have friends of many faiths, from Christian to Muslim to Agnostic to Pagan. My closest friends on this plane are Pagans.

When I was 19, everyone from my parents to my boss was trying to tell me how to live my life, forgetting that only I can live my life.Eventually, they saw that I was going to do as I chose and thankfully, life has turned out pretty darn well all in all. I cannot guarantee that God will fix all of your problems today, next week, next month, next year or even ten years from now. I can't make make any guarantees about anything. Life just doesn't work that way. But what I can tell you is that eventually things do get better.

May all of your dreams come true!

You sound like a nice young man and I'm very sorry that you are going through this situation in your life. I think it would be best to tell your former love your true feelings and then move on. It takes time to heal from it and it will take time for her to heal from it as well. She needs and deserves that closure from you and I think it may help you along as well.
