There should be a law that before you can drive that car on a public road the owner be required to attend at least 2 competition drivers schools at a race track. Putting that car in the hands of the average driver is like giving a 6 YO a loaded gun.
Well, I may have been a little harsh on the DOW. I think the S&P is a more accurate metric of the overall health of the market and a direction indicator.
The problem with Junk Bonds is the name. That scares most neophytes away. I mean who in their right mind would ever even think about investing in something that's labeled as "Junk". But you know what they say about one mans junk.... Most people don't even know what they really are. I don't think of them as junk, rather Corporate bond funds. IOW a basket of corporate bonds and a variety of other holdings in the basket. This insures diversity without trying to time the market. I track and evaluate 48 funds on a daily basis and am invested in 5 of them.
Hey alterboi are you talkin to me? I'll assume you are and answer your question. I have no idea. The reason being I don't bother paying any attention to the DOW as it is a meaningless number. I'll tell you this much though, when I started investing in the late 60's, the DOW was around 800. I don't invest in stocks these days, my interest lies in junk bonds. Now if you'd like to discuss that I'll be happy to engage in a chat with you.

You act like a smart man, but you are really anything but. If it weren't for people like me, spending hundreds of American dollars for your Australian exports, all you would be left with are warehouses bursting with bales of wool and your 4 legged girlfriends.
Nam, I really never thought of a typo considering the education level of the OP. I figured she knew something I didn't know so I subtracted 26 from 2018 and got 1993 and I did a google search of major world events which occurred in 1993. Nothing that came up had any relevance to North Korea in that year so I decided to ask.
JL; " I just wondered why there is no quota on cars sold here produced from other countries."
I think it's because we are free to buy any car we can afford no matter where it comes from. I was under the impression that republicans were against big government and regulations. I guess I was wrong about that. Would you want to be told you can't buy a Jaguar because there were too many MG's sold already or a Mazda because we hit our quota of Toyota's already? That sounds pretty Un-American to me!
There is so much bad financial advice being doled out by "experts" and it's all geared to induce people to give a portion of it to the money managers. My favorite is; Work your whole life and save your money in a bank savings acct and when you retire, start spending the money until t runs out or you drop dead, whichever comes first. There's no law that says once you retire you can no longer earn any money. There are lots of perfectly legal ways to make money other than selling your time & labor.
Interesting that he concluded that the press was going to say negative things about him. Sound like a man with a guilty conscience. Of course a tactic like that can and probably will backfire on him in the event the press says something good about him but he probably doesn't see that ever happening.
Cervatilla, I'm impressed! Not many people have any idea what "Green Flash" even IS. As I recall it doesn't last even a second so maybe a time exposure might capture it.
Bonny Parker wasn't a bad looking chic. Put some modern clothes on her and do something with her hair and she could hold her own with the beautiful women of today.
BTW, unless I miss my guess, that car she's standing next to was a ford with a Flathead V8 which produced an astounding 60 HP. It was a fast car for the day which is why Clyde Barrow liked it because he could out run the cops.
I never gamble but I am pretty active in the stock mkt. The moment one of my activities starts to look like a gamble, I fold up my tent and move on to something else. My ex BIL, now deceased, got so frustrated with me one time that he actually bought me a $2.00 Lottery ticket. It was a winner, $4.00. I said oh cool, I won 4 bucks. He said you're supposed to go buy 2 more tickets. I said why? He said that's what your supposed to do. I said, that's not what I do. He took the 4 bucks and bought 2 more tickets. They were both losers. I said Are you happy now?
"Used Cars" is a great movie I have a copy on VHS that I downloaded off the TV years ago. A lot of people have never seen that movie, they don't know what they're missing.
Wait a minute, how can it be 30's inside and 40's outside? Why not just open the windows and let all that free heat in? It sounds like you need a back up source of heat like a wood stove. Do you have a clothes line?
I love the blonde haired Nixon. The thing that I can't fathom is why Trump would ever fire Comey after Comey virtually gave Trump the presidency on a silver platter when he went on TV and talked about the FBI investigations into Hillary Clintons emails. He should have given Comey a year free stay at Mara Lago for that gift. Instead he fires the guy. I guess this is what you get for doing something good for Donald Trump, he sticks it up your as.
RE: A Fool and his money soon part.... in this case VERY quickly.
