The Aquatones

Tears are streaming down my face.

Little Darlin

Sorry, couldn't resist.

RE: Seasons

I figured it was a Harley but I didn't expect it to be a Trike. I'm a Suzuki man myself. My first bike was a 67 X6 Hustler. Rode that bad boy from New Jersey to Florida & back to visit my 80 YO mother. While I was down there she asked me to take her for a ride on the bike which I did. We rode all over Sanford FL with her arms around me, I'll never forget it. She's gone now but that memory lives on in me forever. I'll never forget the comment she made on that ride "Boy, I could get used to this." My thought at the time "I bet you could".

RE: Seasons

What kind of bike do you have?

Little Darlin

Another gem from the long forgotten past. This song was a huge hit back in the early 50's. It was kind of a comedy song that was loved by everybody, young & old.
Mickey Katz actually made a knock off comedy rel of this song.

RE: "ONE EYED JACKS"

I call it uniocular.

Little Darlin

Nobody's askin you to listen Mic.

Little Darlin

I got a few more. You want to hear them?

Little Darlin

Here's another rare gem from none other than Elvis. I doubt there's anybody who's never heard this great recording but if you're hearing this for the first time you're in for a treat. I'm not a big Elvis fan but I adore this song and have since it first came out in 1956.

RE: A fantastic evening with K was ruined by my own body.

So, you're not worried about K catching what you got? confused

RE: For Those Who Like to recall the pop songs of 1960's

I first heard this song in 1954 when it was brand new. I couldn't believe it was possible to make a great Rock & Roll song out of basically a Christmas Carol, but Clyde McPhatter & the Drifters sure did. The first singer to take the lead was the bass singer Bill Pinkney followed by the souring tenor voice of Clyde McPhatter. I wonder if Irving Berlin ever heard this version and if so, what did he think of it?

Anybody here Investing in securities, stocks, bonds, whatever?

Sounds like you're doing your homework bluejeans. Good on you.

RE: Day one of my new trucking life!

This seems appropriate. dancing

Anybody here Investing in securities, stocks, bonds, whatever?

These days I'm strictly into CEF's (Closed End Bond Funds). They don't bounce around as much as stocks and they usually pay a nice dividend. Then there are another class of Bond Funds which invest in Municipal bonds which don't pay as high a Div but the Divs are not taxable. Any Capital Gains however are taxable like if you make a profit on the trade like buying it for a dollar a share and selling it for 2 dollars, you must pay the tax on the gain.

RE: Day one of my new trucking life!

OK, A straight job is just like a huge car except you gotta know how high the truck is so you don't rip the roof off going under a low bridge.
With a Tractor Trailer, your Left hand is married to your Left mirror and Right hand to Right mirror.
Next rule is.
When backing up:
Push to Bend, Pull to Straighten.
IOW if you want the trailer to go to the left, you're gonna use the left mirror and push with your left hand. ie turn the wheel clockwise.
The opposite if you want the trailer to bend to the right. That is right mirror right hand again Push to Bend, Pull to Straighten.

RE: Day one of my new trucking life!

This thread seems to be about everything except driving a truck. confused BTW, Phil, what kind of truck are we talking about, a straight job or a tractor trailer?

RE: Saturday morning 2 AM ambulance ride

How, who, or what, do you think you contracted Covid from? Have you gotten a vaccine shot or 2? Have you been out and about mixing with people? I'm living like a hermit these days fortunately I'm retired so I don't have a job to go to every day. My youngest son Steven organized getting us both vaccinated 2 shots in April & May. I'm still really careful about avoiding people as though they have the plague and they very well may. One more thing, I've made it a personal rule, I don't buy anything made in China nor eat at a Chinese restaurant anymore.

RE: Second covid vaccine shot acquired!

I've had both Moderna shots, had no ill effects from either other than the momentary sting of the needle. dunno

RE: Week one of my education!

BTW, are you going for Tractor/Trailer driver or straight job? Big difference.

RE: Week one of my education!

When are you gonna get some seat behind the wheel time? I'm a retired trucker if there's anything I can assist you with feel free to ask.

RE: Almost situated in the new place

I assume this is in Denmark?

RE: 130°F/55°C Western U.S. Heat Wave Approach Hottest Temps Recorded On Earth

I've thought for a while about putting up a blog about ways an individual can or actually do fight climate change. For starters;

Put up a clothes line instead of using a dryer. Not only will you be saving the earth you'll be saving a lot of money.

Bamboo

Dry Bamboo also burns very hot so it makes great kindling for a wood stove.

RE: Boom !! Over 100 babies delivered in two stretches totaling 91 hours at Fort Worth hospital

Just what the world needs, more people. doh

RE: "THE MAN OF VIDEOS"....("HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED!!")

String seemed like a decent fellow, I always wondered where he got the screen name he used, what was the meaning behind it? Did he collect string or something? I don't recall him ever getting into a tussle with anybody on here he was always a gentleman.

RE: Called in for vaccination!

2 million what? Is that rent or purchase price?

RE: D-Day - 6/6/'44

"Oob - I'm Sure you've Seen the movie, but all those things are brought up in "The Longest Day" "

Bobby was interviewed by Cornelious Ryan when he was writing the book. I'm sure many surviving members of the 101st were as well. If you have the book, look in the back for Robert Felt in the list of contributors. That was my brother

RE: D-Day - 6/6/'44

He'd be about 100 if he was still alive.

RE: Defund The Democrats

tell US, not up.

RE: Budgetting for the next few years

What is the average interest rate on a savings account?
0.04% APY
According to the FDIC, the national average interest rate on savings accounts currently stands at 0.04% APY. This applies to both average and jumbo deposits (balances over $100,000).Apr 8, 2021

So, if you put $1000 into a savings acct in 1 year you will have earned $40.00. Hardly seems worth it. There are much better places to put that money.
