RE: "UNDER RATED"

Hombre was a truly great movie. I raced with Paul Newman quite a few times, never against each other because we were in different classes, but we were often combined to round out the field because our lap times were very close. In fact, I use to always check his qualifying times to see how I was doing, I'm pretty sure he checked mine as well for the same reason. On the race track we're all equals.
I'll never forget a race up at Lime Rock Park up in Conn. I was behind him going into the 180 when he lost it and was going sideways right in front of me. wow I was yelling "Hookup, Hookup" cause if he kept sliding I was going to crash into him and shove him right into the dirt bank. At the last second he got traction and we both went through the next tight right hander normally. I took a deep cleansing breath.

The Board of Health ought to kick everybody out of the White House and fumigate the place.

He was one of the few I never saw perform live on stage back in the 50's. His music was a big part of my youth however.

RE: The only game in town

@harbal "I've heard of Canasta, ooby, but I've never played it. Is there a computer version, do you know?"

I used to play online years ago but I don't remember the site. There are online canasta play sites but the best way to play is with another person(s) hard to do under present conditions I admit.

Canasta requites 2 decks of cards and includes the jokers. it's basically a point game and you typically play to 5000 points. Psychology plays a big role in the game and everybody develops a style, and learning your opponents style is a key element in your success in the game. Another quirk to the game is any player can end the game at any time, it's called "Going out" and it pays 100 points. if a player "Goes out" not only does he get 100 points but the other player(s) must deduct the point value of all the cards in their hand. I used to play Canasta with a friend, Jimmy, he was the "Go Out king" I hated playing with him for this reason. I complained to him "We play this game, to play the game, Not to End the game mf.very mad

RE: The only game in town

When I was a kid I used to play Canasta with my mother. She would get so upset when I beat her which happened about 50% of the time. Even way more fun is playing Canasta with 4 people. This way you can play partners and it can get very interesting with everybody trying to communicate with their partner (which is illegal) without the other team finding out.

RE: Name ONE positive that has come out of the stay at home.

I'm using a lot less gas. When I do go somewhere there's hardly any traffic.

RE: OK - this could be bad news. Preliminary evidence indicates Corona Virus on air pollution particles

So one may assume that the lower the level of pollution, the less likely you will encounter Corona Virus "molecules" or whatever you call them? Another good reason to stay in the house, especially if you happen to live in a very polluted area.

RE: The anything but Trump blog

There's a thing called Gibb's Phenomenon, which comes about when you sample an impulse with a finite bandwidth, leaving ripples both before and after the event. Since the universe at it's fundamental seems to be quantized, there is mathematical precedent for non casual non physical apparitions.
What is your opinion on this chancer?

RE: The Beatles versus The Rolling Stones...

I went to my older brothers house in West Hempstead LI and watched the Ed Sullivan show on TV with my nieces and nephew when the Beatles appeared on the show. It was wonderful and I'll never forget it. It was like a meeting of the ages, the old ages represented by Ed Sullivan and the new age represented by the Beatles. Ed seemed totally bewildered by it.

RE: $20 TRILLION Lawsuit Against China! U.S. Group Says Coronavirus Is Bioweapon.

It's scary to think the scientists from an advanced country like China could be so sloppy as to allow a virus as deadly as this one to escape containment. But, I guess if it could happen in another county, possibly one even more advanced than China, the USA, I guess anything is possible when grownups go around acting like children playing with matches. If you're wondering just what I'm talking about, do a little research on Lyme disease and Plum Island.
If my theory is correct, this virus was intended to remain in China. Its purpose was to reduce the over burdening population. The one child policy failed so this was plan B. This leaves only one conclusion, it was no accident.

A further justification or serendipitous outcome of accidental release of the virus to spread around the world would be to reduce the global population mitigating the trend of global warming and climate change. China would be praised for saving the world population from burning to death.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse

Interesting article.

RE: Believers and unbelievers

"God created Heavens and earth in 6 days" confused

A day is the length of time it takes the Earth to make 1 revolution on its axis. Before the Earth existed there were no "days" therefore God could not have created the Earth in 6 days because days didn't exist.
If that's not enough proof of the BS about creating the Earth in "6 days", in order to know when a day begins and ends there must be a Sun to signal the start of the day ie no Sun = no day and night just perpetual darkness.

Don't you hate it when people ask questions you can't answer?

RE: Believers and unbelievers

"The earth was without form, and void;" so according to that statement the Earth existed before God performed his magic on it is that right?
BTW when was "The Beginning"?

RE: Believers and unbelievers

So then starrayfil, since God created the universe, the stars, planets, the Sun & moon and everything out of nothing, there must have been a time prior to doing this that he was floating around in the emptiness of space. Is that a right?

RE: Believers and unbelievers

I have a question for you. It's been said, in the Bible I think, that God created man in his own image. Is that correct? In other words God looks like us with 2 arms, 2 legs, a head on his shoulders, etc. Is this true?

RE: New York Trip Preparations - Part 4

Sorry but I have to disagree with those who say just go anyway. You're travelling to a different country and you're landing in one of the most dangerous cities in the US, Newark New Jersey. You have no transportation and even if you rent a car you have no idea where to go or where to sleep.
