RE: About frozen food

Like with raw meat, raw seafood can be cooked and re-frozen.

If it's defrosted in the switched off freezer for 8 hours, that's safe like defrosting it in the fridge over night.

You just have to remember that some seafood (like pink prawns) has already been cooked.

RE: About frozen food

It depends on the food and what temperature it got to.

If none of it thawed at all, you're fine.

If there was some thawing/warming, but you don't know what temperature it raised to, it gets a bit more complicated.

Low risk foods like vegetables and bread are unlikely to cause any problems as long as meat (particularly raw) juices haven't dripped on them. You might find re-freezing bread and veg reduces their quality, but they won't kill you.

It's really not a god idea to re-freeze raw meat if there has been even the slightest bit of thawing on the outside. You can however, defrost the raw meat in the fridge, cook it and re-freeze it safely.

Cooked meat shouldn't be re-frozen if there was any sign of thawing.

RE: About the hearing...

It's irrelevant whether Ginni Thomas did anything wrong, or not.

She has been implicated in the events of January 6th, Trump publicly praised her recently at a rally and she has signed a letter to House Republicans calling for the expulsion of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for joininng the January 6th Committee.

At the same time, Trump appealed to the Supreme Court regarding the Mar a Lago documents case which went directly to Ginni Thomas's husband because Clarence Thomas has jurisdiction over the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals which issued the ruling that Trump appealed.

This means there is a conflict of interest for Clarence Thomas, that things going on with his wife could effect his decision making processes where Trump is concerned. Regardless of whether Trump did anythng wrong, or not, he is entitled to be fairly heard by the justice system and that can't be guaranteed if there is a conflict of interest.

It's the fact that Clarence Thomas didn't recuse himself, didn't say, "I can't make a judgement about Trump's appeal because it would be unfair to him under the circumstances" undermines the integrity of the justice system.

RE: About the hearing...

I think it's irrelevant whether he can remain professional and unbiased, or not.

The point is that he should have recused himself to avoid undermining any legal procedings for, or against Trump.

The fact that he hasn't as yet undermines not only his personal integrity, but the integrity of institution that he represents.

The question for me is whether it's already too late to recuse himself and end his marriage, or whether he needs to resign in the best interests of the nation.

RE: About the hearing...

It's the Ginny Thomas thing that blows my mind.

RE: Stop typing ect.

Catholic mass in Latin had just gone out of mode in England in 1957 when my parents were married.

They wanted the mass in Latin so they could both understand what was going on, but were refused. As my mum didn't speak any English, my dad had to nudge her in the ribs with his elbow to let her know when to say, "I do".

I'm not sure how they came to this arrangement because my dad didn't speak German at the time. I imagine he nerdily evoked the powers of a Cassell's dictionary, or two.

RE: Mondel Loaf...

It's also known as Mandelbrot which literally translated from German means 'almond bread'.

Political bias was covered by Dr.Lee in the video with her assessment.

I just interpreted the video by pointing out the kind of criteria she was cvertly and subtly referring to.

My input isn't politically biased in a bipartisan way: I think the democratic(ish) systems that we have, especially in the US where so much power is at stake, have innumerable faults. One of them would be that nation/world leader positions inherently attract psychlogically/behaviourally irregular people who err on the side of personality disorder traits.

Trump is just a particularly extreme and obviously concerning one.

Hello Tatami. hug

I lked that.

RE: Your daily dose of Donald... 10-9-2022

Can you point out where anyone said 'it', whatever you mean by 'it', is a 'real diagnosis'?

What would you consider a 'diagnosis' to be?

How useful do you think diagnoses of psychatric categories are?

RE: Your daily dose of Donald... 10-14-2022

It was very kind of AgentBob to help Trump write that 14 page document. uh oh

If you watched the video, did you find it interesting, Chat?

I'd like to add a comment about the Goldwater Rule and point out that there are some instances where assessing from afar has it's advantages: some pathological behaviours can be manipulative, but appear non-pathological; that is, in face-to-face situations a client may successfully 'play' the professional. A public figure tends to provide a wealth of recorded material of unselfconscious behaviour which may provide more genuine indicators.

Also, psychiatry, psychology and talking therapies are an extension of usual human behaviour. We all constantly observe human behaviour, react to it and implement many of the talking therapy skills in everyday life. Although professionals in these areas may assess with greater knowledge and have opinions which carry authority, we have all had the opportunity to observe behaviour traits exhibited by Trump.

RE: Your daily dose of Donald... 10-9-2022

Okay, I think my missing thread was on the topic of whether 'world leader' candidates should undergo psychological assessment before being voted into office. Some of my thinking was inspired by the interview below from 2018.

It's interesting watching it again given it was recorded before George Floyd et al, the BLM protests against police brutality and killings, the clearing of protesters bordering Lafayette Square, Kyle Rittenhouse, January 6th, etc.

RE: Your daily dose of Donald... 10-9-2022

Are you okay with me posting some stuff here, Chat?

I'm not sure it's wise to create a whole blog on the topic. I don't want to start WWIII by criticising Saint Donald in front of those who wouldn't recognise a pathological behaviour trait if it slapped them with a wet Communion wafer.

RE: Your daily dose of Donald... 10-9-2022

That'll take some work, findng the documentary and other sources again.

I'll try, but it'll take a bit of time.

I created a thread about Trump's psychatric traits, but I think it went kapoof when the site owners had a legal panic clean up around the time of January 6th.

I'll just leave a taster...

IQ tests measure a specific set of skills which may be innate, or learned. Their use, or perceived value has exceeded ther original intention.

Those specific IQ skills bear little relation to Trump's personal skill set. I would suggest that his ablity lies in cognitive empathy, whilst lacking emotonal emapthy. It means he can objectively observe how others emotionally react to stimuli and use that to his advantage.

RE: Your daily dose of Donald... 10-9-2022

"I read a comment The Guardian took video of Trump directing the loading of at least 9 boxes to a private plane at the West Palm Beach airport. The manifest was to fly to Bedminster New Jersey. It's believed they are maintenance staff at Bedminster Club and they know where the boxes are.
It wouldn't surprise me if the DOJ serve him with more search warrants to search his New York offices, clubs and other residences. "

If it wasn't a stunt, if the nine-plus boxes contained any sensitiive material, no one will have seen them, or Trump personally involved.

The Trump administration was somewhat characterised by (piles of) paper'work' being used as propaganda props.

RE: Gender insanity.

One of my grandchildren identifies as gender neutral with both boy and girl traits.

They don't want to obey, or be held back by arbitrary gender role stereotypes, much like the Suffragettes didn't want to sit and look pretty.

You don't come across as much of a needy damsel yourself, so maybe you have more in common with the concept of non-binary gender than you think.

Yeah, I got that which is why I commented that it was clever for recognising the 'I can get away with what I know is inappropriate because I'm so important' mentality/behaviour pattern.

I don't understand your question, Chat. confused

I need an American English to UK English translation. laugh

RE: Your daily dose of Donald... 9-22-2022

This is so extraordinary it's confusing. Has Trump lost touch with reality, or is it some kind of ploy? He seems to be remarkably adept at trolling.

Is it wrong that I laughed at that? laugh
