D4n No. You don't have to stay detached unless you wish to. There's nothing wrong with helping people and making yourself happy. Whether you're good or bad makes no difference. The motivation is the reward. These acts produce hormones which are responsible for the mental boost. You may have experienced this after exercise. Hormones produced again to make you feel good. If you stop exercising routine, you may feel guilty and try to maintain the regime as you know the reward is there. That's why you see joggers everywhere after their fix.
