September.....

A. GOT for that thrones game? Never even looked at it. Could use some cultural input updating. With an emphasis on DATING.

September.....

Good point. Even with a well calibrated compass, anyone can miss it, no? But the stars always seem to help, when really in doubt, no?

RE: My Happy Ever After

Always on that list, mC, somehow, while on CS. Not all bad, perhaps. Some of the most attractive, yet classless women chase rogues, criminal or otherwise. Ongiong joke among house staff in California horsepitals. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

RE: Human Extinction By 2030 -

And those delightful no see ums.

RE: Human Extinction By 2030 -

For God's sake, above all, save the black fly.

RE: My Happy Ever After

Doctor nurse joke. How does one say FY in Tagalog? Yes, Doctor, I'll take that order right away.

RE: No Such Thing as a Good Dog

On a good day, I'm hopefully merely and average Dad, and pet meister. But wish I had a buck for every dumb mistake I've made.

RE: No Such Thing as a Good Dog

CF. Years of work? Not at all. We simply drug and beat our beloved Bravo regularly.

The Peoples' Republic of China.....

Thanks, and spot on, RL. With so many millennia of history, they know about patience. But the HK leadership seems weak and unimaginative, even while under Beijing's wings. And I fear the Party still has many influential hotheads who still have that Tiannemen Jones kicking about, No?

Out of the mouths of babes......

Thanks, all. And WH. I think I understand the source of your comment. Malta.

RE: Been Smoking Recently?

Alcohol is a great drug, for those among us who now no longer dring alcoholically. Yep. Because of personal growth, perhaps changes in my enzymes, and my intolerance of so much untreated severe personality disorders in self help groups, I now rarely attend. But when I needed it, it was life saving. Quitting smokes is tough.

Oxymorons. Unlike the usual ones we find so often on CS, present company included.

GG. Thanks. Wish they weren't still handing that stuff out like candy. Well trained docs/nurses should know better. And how about a brief dissertation, or an interesting one for that matter?

Oxymorons. Unlike the usual ones we find so often on CS, present company included.

Comment often made about Irish men. Clearly dysarthric

Oxymorons. Unlike the usual ones we find so often on CS, present company included.

A stretch, but here goes---Blackfly and gnat preservation societies.

Oxymorons. Unlike the usual ones we find so often on CS, present company included.

In fact, after my last painless surgery, I needed a few dry martinis.

Oxymorons. Unlike the usual ones we find so often on CS, present company included.

Thanks, all--- great ones. Anyone ever try a little painless surgery? If the recuperation doesn't get ya, the bills will.

How quaint....

Erudite comments, all. Thanks.

RE: Relationship Killers

Well, CF. All good points. But I like to keep it simple. In my experience, almost all of couples' and family therapy techniques can be summed up with two kind words. "yes dear".

Our brilliant protector....and his promisses....

OD---full syndrome.. Prognosis guarded. Remedy/cure---let Bilary run again and get elected. Sadly, otherwise, little hope.

Free veggies.

Or pumkins, Micman. Yep, northern climes, as do all, have plusses and minuses. And UF, yeah, that would suit. Tomats soon. WAY too many. This year's experiment, spaced plantings of the 50 day early girls.

RE: Florida Everglades on Fire

Yep, I remember the "soul food restaurants". Over salted for the blood pressure. Wrong fats for the deadly blood lipids. Chared meat contributes the cercinogens. Cultural heaven. Like rap. So what if no lyrics really rhyme? It be down and cool, homie.

RE: what is loneliness?

Thoreau, in Walden, quipped---My best company here (Walden Pond cabin), is when noone visits. Paraphrased, but mostly I get it. Bravo, and friends who call first, are plenty of companionship. Not really sure if I could live with a GF again. She's have to be very active, especially interesting, a lifelong learner/teacher, and exceedingly tolerant/open minded. I've met some, but quite rarely. Wide nets rock.

RE: Gardening

Well, UF, good point. Palmetto State---palmetto bug.

RE: Gardening

Well, UF, our awesome U Maine extension folks charge under &10 for the service. The sample carton is free. Sorry for misleading you. But it's worth doing every few years. Usually, they report deficiencies in the usual suspects---phosphorus, pH, potasiun, etc. But they also report on micronutriens, which can be important. Have you tried singing sweetly to the plants each evening after watering them?

RE: That last bit of perfume in the bottle.

Yep, UF. The stuff I put on my locks for that irresistable salt and pepper look gets like your perfume. But the more I think about it, wish they'd use glass. Seems like it can then be melted down and reused, unlike more and more plastics. But please don't use too much perfume, no matter how good it is. It should be used sparingly, to blend with a lady's chemistry. Most women don't get it, and it's hard to be on the same elevator with them, let alone in a car or plane for hours.

RE: News you can bear to read

Yep, JN.Sometimes these big bears just enter home for a paws.

RE: A Liberal's dilemma

All. If not a liberal by age 18, you have no heart. If still a liberal at 40, you have no brain. We're told Sir Winston quipped this.

RE: Detached

Dissociating.

But for the grace of the Goddesses....

AND,... whenever brother number two calls, to quiz me on my progress as will and trust executor, he's always two sheets to the wind. AS IF a recovered drunk, and trained clinician wouldn't notice. Of course, the thought pops up to say something like, "please be sober when you call". "it's bad for my recovery". But in recovery, we learn to vet our thoughts behind our hurting statements, to see what role our own issue underlie it all. Rarely do we not find our own roles in such, and then bite the tongue. Grateful.

Miss Lilly and Miss Angel...

Thanks, and your point is well taken. But I think they'd rather be here to comfort kitty, and possibly intervene medically, when that fateful day arrives. I fear it isn't far off. But she's a pretty tough old girl.
