Yes, D and C. We probably should do more chatting more privately with bloggers. With rare exceptions, these seem like nice and in many ways interesting folks. Plus, it's fun to write all over the world. But the move to phone texting and private email, not to mention skype type platforms, usually occurs after some time here first. But yes, it seems nowhere is private anymore.
Garden picked clean, last grass mowing, Sailboat tarped over, too cold and windy to fish, yard machines readied for Spring, same for vintage Honda, and snow soon. Ponta Delgada and Lisbon beckon. You are in a proper place.
Glad for you, JN. I bet she really knows how to treat a fella. Soft or leather bed rail restraints? Steely Dan and KY? So long since I had a real woman for dinner.
Well, JN, perhaps the rich will really benefit as well, rather than this merely being a typical reflexive claim of the alt left. They pay most taxes, and create most jobs, so why not? But I and many of my acquaintances are hardly rich, and we seem to be seeing more in our tax refunds. And a few lower costs of healthcare premiums/copays, with the few trump reforms of disastrous unaffordable plan that the alt left couldn't kill off. More after November 6, no?
Well, Biff, it's true that traditional chemo should have a much more limited role, as is happening, in working with cancer patients. But while the trend is positive, it's also wise not to throw the baby out with the bath water. Many kids now survive most formerly deadly blood cancers, And in a minority of adults, it can be helpful. But yes, in some cases the treatments (radiation as well) seem to put these survivors at risk of another, often different, cancer, years later. A friend in one of my language groups is a retired oncologist, and a decent human being. It's a guilt ridden, touchy topic for him. Western medicine has her place, but could use a lot more humility. First---do no harm.
Yes, Jenny, Looking at the night sky, and into a microscope, has a way of placing even me right back into my little box. In these regards, I chuckle when some preachers go on about what God thinks and what the Goddess wants for us all. It's like the smallest flea looking up at me, and having an opinion on what I'm thinking about. Takes all kinds, no?
During my student days, I wasn't much of a sky gazer. But on drunken weekends, there were moons aplenty in most mens' residence Windows. Some womens' as well. And the Goddess has struck here. The new coffee at this Mickey D's is quite drinkable. Just no longer useful for de -rusting chrome trim on vintage autos.
Right on target, JN. I'd only add a few items to your wise list. CancerS, not cancer. And some of the more toxic (and often unsuccessful) treatments for same, including medications. Don't forget our phage, prion and virus buddies. Even the chronic irritation of much "higher" life forms---schistosomiasis and bladder cancer---many other examples. And chlorination of our (high organic/surface water source) public water supplies tacks on these halogens to produce some lab evidence carcinogens. Many feel, with some evidence, that our emotions enter here, at least as to survival, if not first or second hit causes. The jury is still out for the newer, more specific (effective) "less toxic" immune therapies. But I wish I had a shekel for each harmless new miracle agent, now taken off the market.
You are correct, H, as so often. He really isn't breaking all records for a pol in keeping campaign promises. All apologies. Silly me. How can I keep misinterpreting things? I must be misreading all the terrific news in making the hated USA great once again. BTW, I vote the person, not the party. You? Doubt it, living in that so called progressive echo chamber. Just one more difference between our sentimentalities. Hard to miss. The electorate ain't stupid. November beckons red, my friend.
Supreme Court for at least a generation. Same with POTUS, with all the successes of our Brilliant Mssrs. Pence and Trump. More of a lead in the Senate soon, and a decrease in the House, but still a majority. Life is good. Even the leg tingles are beginning to seem fun. I hate Gloaters, don't you all?
Yep, JN. Nice that the power in my sailing craft was gasoline, for only a short time. Have been lucky in this regard, since My family was usually out with us. Diesel power rocks, in VW camper vans, as well. But lots of particulate pollution, less with the newer engines. No perfect solutions. Except for Our Brilliant President Trump, No?
Also, these O Canada researchers might work on the documented problems in youth on chronic regular weed. Points lost in cognitive testing, amotivational syndromes and in a measurable subgroup, psychosis that may be a forerunner of schizophrenia, especially in youth with genetic loading for such. Doubt it? Just catch the craziness in my rants. In college days, four finger twigless ounces of red Panamanian, went for under $20. Nuff said.
Yes, W. Consult with former East German border police. A few still alive. Ask them about building walls. They know a thing or two about it. Those heat sensitive automatic machine gun towers will replace what hasn't worked. Drones watching them at all times as well. Any Mexican who gets a notion to make one inoperable gets to do it only once. Next topic. Trump think.
I bet they taste wonderful. But the first dish from that former Dutch hotbed of exploitive and cruel repressive imperialism reminds of my drunken student days, hugging onto the edges of the bowl, for dear life. Second one is a bit more appealing.
Yes, CC. There are differences between the two groups. Sir Winston quipped decades ago---If not a liberal by age 18, one has no heart. If still a liberal by age 40, one has no brains. But there are many exceptions.
Asking us on CS to.....
