Okay I don't remember it being that way but I bow to your memory being better than mine. So what we want is a new comment on any blog bringing it back into play - but only one blog visible per blogger.
So yeah someone who wanted to bounce a political blog off the top could go hunt through that blogger's list for an unexceptional or interesting one and bounce that up
Sheesh, she didn't even give him the number for the Samaritans?? It isn't a doctor's role to talk someone down, but there are people who are trained to do it and I would have thought the Surgery would have all the contacts necessary.
Mick, easy to ignore one lout hanging round the coffee shop you like to go to. Harder to ignore 5 or 6 or a whole mob.
If the blogger was discouraged by being ignored, the one or two comments most of them generate, that would be cool. They just write another. And another. Which is also cool if one sparks interest and comments, if it is the only one showing. The fascinated can go look for one from the genius blogger to pop to the top. The turnover could be endless and no visitor could fail to realize there is a kindred spirit around.
Socrates, excellent!! Good to see you, and yes, returning to the old system of one visible blog per blogger, would definitely help. Hoping to see one of yours there.
You should probably be catching dreams but yay to have you visit
Yup thought you knew, I mentioned it on a blog a while back, got engaged just before Christmas, will be married sometime this year. They met on a blind date set up by friends, can you believe over 2 years ago already? He won't be coming back here, let's hope for their sakes!
Daniela, shhhhh, don't mention the forums if they've escaped notice so far!
Glad to hear about Dedovix, I did know about Pedal and Lisa but haven't heard from them in yonks, would be fun to hear where they're at. Thanks for the updates!
Bek, there's always going to be a turnover in bloggers and we gain some and lose some but yeah, there was so much diversity before. Now a growing monopoly of political groupies who couldn't banter or chat pleasantly even if the next election depended on it.
Despite, hmm, lessee, the top 10 blogs being dedicated to being despairing, angry, hostile or unhappy. You I can think can recover. You promise to cheer up about Rob Gronkowski, 'kay?
Badly ten hour days don't sound a great work-life balance but hey, it all comes down to following your happy, one man's poison, etc. I know for me, I'll work all the hours I can get for fun and profit but only for a limited period and as the deadline nears it takes on all the dazzle of a rainbow
Hey Red, and yes I am happy (when I have the time to sit down and think about it ) but I tend to do what I want, often against well-meant advice, what I do like about this philosophy is that in deciding against the sensible courses of action in the past I have been subconsciously following the right paths. So that was nice and now I can say I am not selfish, I am merely ahead of my time
I've holidayed in Otterburn! Sheesh a long time ago, I was a teenager on my first holiday abroad since childhood, but I loved it My sister was living there, it was a family visit.
Cats are subtle. The dog, on the other hand, gets on a corner of the bed, then stretches out and out and out until I wake up when I fall on the floor ...
Badly, I only quoted that bit as it came from the precis and pretty accurately summed up average reactions - some for, some against, and some would be for but reluctantly had to be against ... just about right
Thank YOU for your comments, there´ve been some really interesting responses and yours added real expansion on topic
Molly, of course there would be tea! I don't drink it but I am extremely tolerant about it
Thomas More's Utopia was all about religious tolerance (not bad for a guy who dedicated a large chunk of his life to tracking down and destroying as many copies of the Protestant bible as he could find ) but everyone had to have a religion or they were out. Or beheaded. He said - and other Utopians have agreed - there had to be fear for there to be control.
Nearly everyone would agree with that. There has to be fear. There has to be punishment. There has to be control. Plato went off to wherever-it-was to create the perfect republic under near perfect conditions - and learned there is no such thing as perfect, and never can be.
But hey, the 15 hour work IS being trialed, you could yet have your abseiling to watercolours!
Luke - I'm quite up for executing them but then I am a tad intolerant
"Shape up or ship out?" Not quite Molly's plan - or transportation to Oz, worked before - but yeah, basically those who don't fit in would certainly be free to go - and free to come back. But not repeatedly. The goal is seeking the best life for yourself and if you can't find it within the community without doing harm, well then best life option lies outside the community. Or go start your own as in the link Badly posted earlier, where a settlement started on these principles has morphed into something else which suits some, who stay, and not others, and they leave.
Molly, agreed, people could use and enjoy quality time to amazing effect. I also agree with a later comment, a great many people would use their extra time fairly mindlessly.
If that was their happy place ...
Much of my mash-blog is based on the dreams of philosophers who would think Heaven was right here on earth if they had time to study and debate in pretty much equal proportions. Some people would welcome extra TV time. Some would be bored out of their wits without constantly having something they had to do. You only have to look at pensioners on reasonable incomes to see what the starter-pack would be. Travel, garden, get involved in grandchildren, paint, write, read, take up new hobbies / causes / a new sport - knit, watch daytime television, follow up a wish-list, or die of boredom. And that's older people, would it be vastly different with youth, health and energy added into the mix?
Some guy called Obama
