Getting there, Bogey, getting there. Supposed to be in a meeting sorting out my residency options today but the expert is puking her heart out with a virus so we had to reschedule. Has to be before end January, tick tock.
By the way, can any Spanish speaker reading this tell me whether asi asi is an okay response to como estas? It's so nicely close to so-so but apparently a Brit invention which is laughed at behind our backs ...
Funny, I ran a blog about a dramatic and ludicrous accusation and was told, by a Republican, that it is perfectly okay to say outrageous things to make a point.
And of course the point being made was carefully left out of your blog. Because, well, say no more.
So it is ok for Republicans to tell whoppers for shock value, and to get their point across in a wave of reaction, but absolutely diabolical for Democrats.
Capitalism, socialism, communism, you name it. Some rake in the good stuff and some whinge that it isn't fair.
Now a decent system would have all the rich guys working their butts off and everyone else slumped in front of the TV not lifting a finger, getting handy amounts of cash delivered regularly with their pizzas and kebabs.
Oh, since this is CS, I should add the above comment was satirical.
WOW type in 'rigged election' and your eyes will pop at the number of international accusations against elections worldwide.
The only one I could find featuring Cohen goes back to 2015, not exactly cutting-edge news and an opinion poll not an election. What's the buzz here, Chat? You wouldn't be doing a media deal and selling us a fake overdramatised headline, would you?
Wow, over 100 photos of places I thought, have to see this blog I thought
Were I you I would delete all the non-photo comments because this could be great
I've added one of my town, one of the funny little crooked street, and one taken late on a wintery afternoon - not sunny, sadly, but it does show the surrounds.
TR, we'll want the link, hon. On your profile if nowhere else?
I'm told CS was at least this toxic (although not politics) some years back, the famous Blog Wars, so it does change, and change, and change again. Keep popping by, and posting, it's a kind of Resistance and anyway eventually all the haters will find haters to fall in love with and will have no reason to stay
Phew. What a relief. Although - hmm - you could be preggers, I suppose. As you say, no documented male pregnancies. Have you noticed your moobs are getting any bigger? Are they tender? Are your pants tighter than they were a few years ago?
TR, I'd basically given up on CS there is so much anger and stubbornness and laying down the law going round, eish.
When I saw the Bisto this huge bubble of slightly hysterical laughter bobbed up and I thought hmm, once, I could have shared this on CS - then I did anyway. Not expecting many comments!
Although my favourite compliment in that whole thing is 'your hair is like a flock of goats' - not an appropriate caption here but still, my favourite.
I've seen racking and wracking. Definitely racking. Goes back to the rack, that delightful torture device where your arms and legs were tied to the rack, then stretched until they popped out of their sockets. OUCH.
I used to believe everyone had a soul, but now I believe they are few and far between and most people are simply alive until they are dead. Which is what most people want, so that's a good thing.
I know the word 'sue' sets up hackles everywhere, but did you call the beloved doctor and ask them to pick up the bill for the ambulance and treatment? It seems sad to me that they didn't offer, but I appreciate their insurance company forbids them to do the decent thing, as it would be admitting liability and open them to a lawsuit.
As for your care of your parents, you're a good person.
Gee, I'd vote for you but as a future illegal immigrant I expect to haul in $5K a month, a condo, a car, 3 American citizens as full-time servants, and never have to work a day in my life again. The land of milk and honey, that's what I'm heading for!
I don't think a vote comes with that sweet deal - although I dunno. Half the country doesn't use theirs, maybe I could buy one.
Vier, 'normal, sensible' - well, that might be putting it a bit high but I did mean people I know, not strangers.
I imagine she'll block me soon, or unfriend me, because I just don't play, the last whacky story she re-posted was a 30-second-check on Snopes to debunk so I just keep spoiling the fun.
LJ, my comment on TR's blog about positivity was ironic, I also like good news, it just isn't news or interesting so far as the media is concerned.
I saw a very clever and well-done video posted by a SF writer forecasting events in 2030, 2040 and 2050 with fantastic gains in surgery and intergalactic travel but believe me some bits would have depressed you very much indeed, especially the mock-ups of 2 to 3 billion refugees on the move as global climate change and natural disasters make whole areas incapable of sustaining their populations. But that's by the by.
The point of my blog is not whether we offer aid or not. It is that people are making up fake news to inflame and upset readers about the amount of aid we offer at the cost of our own citizens.
It's so effective that the actual lies which annoyed me so much are completely immaterial and this is now a blog about offering aid at all.
Red - don't know what to say to you except that people in hospital not often there for years on end. But yes, a lot of unfair stuff goes on. Life isn't fair.
Doesn't - ever - mean it is right to make up fake stories.
TR one of the endless fascinations of CS is that it is a microcosm of life in general. No one is so off-beat they don't represent a whole section of society ...
Z, you probably won't be thrilled to learn that certain bloggers are now actually paid by CS to write blogs? Unless of course you're one of them
This is a last-ditch attempt to stem the death of the blogs and is based on how often each blog is read, and the number of different people commenting, as many of the CS-killing blogs are supported by only a tiny non-representational handful of members
No that was a complete lie (I'm practicing) but did you say WHA? before you got to this point?
Here's that copy-paste (I haven't included the maternity extras but they work out at about £3 a week)
Housing You’ll be given somewhere to live if you need it. This could be in a flat, house, hostel or bed and breakfast. You can’t choose where you live. It’s unlikely you’ll get to live in London or south-east England. Cash support You’ll get £37.75 for each person in your household. This will help you pay for things you need like food, clothing and toiletries. Your allowance will be loaded onto a debit card (ASPEN card) each week. You’ll be able to use the card to get cash from a cash machine. If you’ve been refused asylum you’ll be given: somewhere to live £35.39 per person on a payment card for food, clothing and toiletries You won’t be given: the payment card if you don’t take the offer of somewhere to live any money Extra money for mothers and young children
I completely agree it's annoying that someone who has been refused asylum still gets money!
RE: Truck Stop...
Killjoy karma, YES
