Blue, haven't grown my own potatoes in a while now although the last time in Scotland they went a bit viral and kept after me for a few years

Whole new world now, though, I have some herbs in pots for cooking but would doubtless starve if I had to live off the land, about the only things I even recognize are olive trees (see, not only kids)

Right now they can set up all the right conditions - test tube babies, clones, in multiples - and they have no idea why some work, some don't. Or why some die easily and some don't. Or what life itself actually is. So for everyone who says science has all the answers, there are scientists saying um no - not quite yet. Any day now.

And before anyone jumps at me waving the Stupid stick - for SURE religion doesn't have the answers either.

1to1, my pet peeve was insurance renewals, every year I had to phone and ask "why when I haven't made a claim are you charging me more than I would get if I switched and went elsewhere?" And every year they'd say "'let's see what I can do" and it would magically go down by a hundred quid or thereabouts. Every year I asked why I had to jump through the hoops like this, couldn't they just put a note on the account that I ALWAYS check and I ALWAYS shop around, and save us both the time?

Bet that won't have changed. But I am on all new stuff here and hopefully can speak enough Spanish to argue my case fluently by renewal time

What does make me feel better is that no-one aside from TR has actually noticed any actual Big Brother stuff on a specific basis. Lots of theory and alarming potential but no actual examples from anyone that they are being monitored. Obviously the stuff I spotted is the only examples out there.

Just a matter of time before someone "suddenly" has the idea of microchipping all current citizens to protect their rights ... and by then the fear will have done its work. As with some legislation, Scotland is being used as the guinea-pig - Scottish babies to be fit with microchips so they can be monitored from birth to 12.

Hey Z, no, that's exactly it, they do have more and more control and generally nobody notices or only finds out when it is fairly handy stuff. It's if we wanted to keep some stuff hidden that there's a problem

I do know when I lost my passport and had to apply for a replacement I was fed up that they didn't have the unchanging details on record already and I had to look up things like my parents' birthdates and birthplaces all over again (wonder if that's changed in the last couple of years too?) so I don't think I really mind them knowing stuff, but nothing stays static, the technology will continue and then what? Making decisions for us?
