Would I lift one finger to actually help a real person or real situation in real life? That's, I suspect, the difference between us. I would. You'd just stand there spouting 'someone' should do 'something'.

Not crazy about being grouped with a bunch of extreme right-wingers with dodgy views since I am usually arguing with those same people but then you are very rarely right about anything

Wake up and smell the roses, guys. Drunken students have been doing this stuff and worse for decades. The point isn't whether it happened. Being human and a wild teenager certainly doesn't stop you being a good judge - hell, it makes you a better judge

The point is that you want a liar sitting on the bench and that's fine, your choice, but jeez, at least accept that you feel he has all the other good qualities necessary.

In my book he'd get my respect for saying 'I worked hard, and yes I partied hard. I truly do not remember this incident and am deeply embarrassed to learn the details. I am sorry.

I am no longer a student, I have decades of experience as a lawyer and a judge and it is my record that is in question, not my student misbehaviour.'

Honesty is prized in a judge, dishonesty for some reason isn't. Go figure.

This is of course 2012 not recent - actually one is quite hard-pressed these days to find a leopard to shoot - and at the time Trump took on critics on Twitter in, well, true Trump style. One gathered the leopard was honoured to have been chosen and Zimbabwe was ecstatic about all the meat supplied gratis (such is the family generosity) after the prolonged slaughter.

I really only posted the link here because of the general rumbling about fake news, every now and then there is a story which is fairly repulsive and absolutely true and completely off topic ...

You say you've met them both and you still can't decide? In that case I'd have to say, neither ...

You talk about their circumstances, not your feelings or reactions.Do you have family and friends, have they met either / both, did they not have opinions?

I don't think you will get much useful help here. We're most of us cautious and cynical.

I'm from Africa myself, I'm assuming your gem buyer is? It is an odd and unsafe place for an American man to leave a 9 year-old child.

Unless you have friends and / or family in Kentucky, you shouldn't move. Not yet. Go visit a few times, perhaps.

I would however say why not enjoy their company when they come to your part of the world, and introduce them to your friends / family. Never under any circumstances lend or give either of them money, or invest in their businesses, or help financially with their children. If they are genuine men, and genuinely interested, and you build up friendships with both, you will soon know for yourself which one you prefer.

Clinton had a long list of accomplishments. You can Google them.

Tex - a president doesn't get elected second time round if they sat on their thumbs for 4 years. They have to dance around like performing fleas.

What is making the Trump administration different is the hatred, contempt and fear his supporters have for the Democrats and what makes him different is that he seems to be the first ever President who encourages hate and seems to want to divide the country - presently HIS country - into 2.

Seems to me all Americans who care about their country should be trying to stop the division, not promote it. I don't understand hater blogs that try to start more fighting. Talk him up, if you must - don't just talk the opposition down. There's no good in that at all in any way. You just set more and more hackles on end and anger more people who can't understand why the happy Trump supporters aren't, well, happy? .

You're unusually lucky in your family - which is perhaps a testament to your mother. Assets and old grudges tear most families apart.

From what you've said your mother slipped away at peace but there's still loss in losing a parent, even one who had a longer innings than most.
