I often have the same thing with rice. Its either gritty or porridge. Everyone has heaps of confusing helpful suggestions, do it like this or that... But I just boill water and throw it in and hope for the best. occasionally its just right and I think why didnt i cook the whole pack.
I get where you're coming from merc, Its not being selfish. There will always be others worse off. If I crashed my car and ended up in hospital, there are still people starving to death in Africa or whatever. That don't help my immediate situation.
Just gotta keep some hope, remember these tough measures are for our collective good. We'll be paying for this for many years to come, but we'll get through.
Great news, they're testing 2 vaccines, one from America one from England I think... On ferrets in Geelong. Ferrets have a similar lung receptor or something, and were used for sars and mers.... But they're saying maybe 12-18 months away... Still, its taken 2 months what would normally take a year.
I think the betting is wide open on that one, everyone is sharing data and information lke never before. My bet would be America, with our help... But I'd happily lose my money if Russia or China gets the gong.
I'd be a rich man, f I had all the answers now... Or considered a saint at least... I personally think this thing got away long before you realised it, and perhaps only the sickest of the sick were being tested, thats what is being said here. Only tales a few thousand and contact tracing is impossible, we will see that in a few weeks after the recent irrelevant council elections...
Yes, England is slightly behind Italy and Spain, but will catch up.... Thamk heavens we dont have public transport here, and very low population density. Apart from the expensive places like Sydney and Melbourne, which are full of foreigners.
The results are in... It was ok, the meat was delicuious, the crackling kind of alright.
Could have been a bit more crackly, it was ok but a bit boot leathery.. I hadnt realised thre was a sanitary pad thingy under the roast, but what the hey. It handled the oven.
The veges were about right, overall it went pretty welll.
Basically, you wont see the results for a few weeks, and the increases are exponential not linear... To cut it short, if there were less restrictions the problem would be much worse in a month or so, despite things perhaps not delivering a visible result now.
Just hit the half century... I have heaps more stories about an even weirder time down at Glebe point, prior to that. And other mis spent youth in the inner city, particularly the cross. But not as bad as one might think.
And the old codger pubs, one was called the dunkirk, right near my work. An old lady would come through with a basket full of cooked lamb shanks wrapped in newspaper, one dollar each... Now, they're about 7 dollars each raw at the supermarket.... Jeez, I sound like an old can't hey...
If I saw you wave, I'd be the tall skinny guy awkwardly waving bck lol, didnt have a lot of confidence...
But yeah, remember standing for the National anthem, after lying about my age to not pay the $3 entrance fee... Afternoons in the dark mouldy boxing gym with smelly gloves and bleeding knuckles... and later getting baby octopus from the seafood market, my work was a short stroll away near the old abandoned McWilliams wine building...
