RE: People Are Dumber Today Compared to Medieval Times

The vaccinated may "come down" with COVID (generally a much milder version); however they rarely (if ever), come down with Long COVID. AND their antibodies last longer than 6 months....professor

RE: People Are Dumber Today Compared to Medieval Times

To continue average intelligence, and talent remains approximately equal, access different historical periods. There will always be a minority of "intelligent" people; with the vast majority being below that level. Accordingly the majority of "noise" "chatter" and "disinformation" on the internet, increases at exponential levels. Therefore people are not entirely to blame, for finding the information around COVID, for example to be confusing. What is actually confusing to me at least is how such people are swayed by the opinions of "celebrities" over people with actual academic qualifications, in that area. I suppose a lot of the mischief starts, with the common misconception, that anyone can become an overnight expert in anything, so long as they have a free weekend, and access to Dr Google!

@Bob

Hey, you're capable of writing English, in sentences!

applause

RE: People Are Dumber Today Compared to Medieval Times

A good example, would be the recent spate of anti COVID Vax blogs. Here, people without a modicum of scientific education became overnight experts in the fields of virology and immunology. Their capacity to believe, and interpret various disinformation and pseudoscience was nothing short of awe inspiring! It's a pity that they were totally wrong. Now, their fate is to catch COVID, repeatedly, due to natural immunity lasting only six months, with the attendant risks of acquiring long COVID, along the way. Some of these fools have left us; but the odd one still hangs around; although, it can be seen that they have considerably less to say for themselves, these days.

Will this be possible in the future?(see above)..

RE: here is a "trippy" thought

Mulder and Scully, were on the case, and managed to stop the thing. Will this be possible in the future. AI has gone ahead in leaps and bounds, but is a long way from being "self aware". If this were to happen, then it would probably be too late for Mankind... professor

RE: here is a "trippy" thought

I saw an episode of the X files, once where the Internet developed a consciousness, and became "self aware" after this it because malicious. It made me really think actually..

We have that sort of rot over here, too. I doubt they worry about it too much, in poor 3rd world countries..

@gloss

You need a permit, to keep them over here. (Non venomous species, only). Some keep pythons, etc. Laws are strict, and rightly so. Only certain non endangered reptiles may be kept.
In Qld and Far Northern NSW, some people encourage pythons, to live in the roof/ceiling cavities; as they are excellent in keeping down rats and mice...
