Reports are coming out of Germany of a severe shortage of sausages and cheese as the country struggles to deal with the Coronavirus crisis. Some have called it a "würst käse" scenario
If the USA was under complete lockdown Trump would be accused of being a dictator and a tyrant. He can't win in the eyes of those who perpetually hate him. His task force pushed hard the 15 days to slow the spread initiative. Recently extended it by an additional 30 days. State government makes decisions relative to their State. They are best informed of conditions in their State and the leadership there gives the orders to their citizens. Federal government can offer advice, provide statistics, but the ultimate decision lies with State leadership. This is how it's supposed to be. It's called the United STATES of America for a reason. States have rights. And their own government. This is why the elected leadership of each State has the final say on issues of lockdown etc., relative to their State.
Incorrect Jim. As i pointed out on a different blog, Fauci simply urged caution, which is completely expected from a doctor. Clinical trials --- months, if not years, before they would be approved, despite them having been administered for decades successfully. This is just a doctor being a doctor. 100% cautious. The problem is in a situation with no vaccine and no cure, such total caution functions as a detriment. The drugs have continued to show tremendous success. A great cause for cheer. Trump's positivity and highlighting of the promising early signs, likely helped in greater use, and ultimately lives being saved.
@2maybe perhaps you weren't paying attention. Both Trump and Fauci commented on it. It was covered in various news outlets. Those curious to know, found out. And nowhere(that i'm aware of) touted it as a miracle cure with no possible side effects. Trump simply commented on the initial amazing results that the drugs had had, and said that it would be great if true and hoped for more testing - and fast-tracking - if the results continued to be so promising. See, he's solutions-oriented. He sees a hurdle, and he's constantly looking for ways to get over it. He doesn't sit on the fence. He acts. The results will always rule. Medical professionals do not administer drugs on a whim. The drugs had been used for decades, combating other conditions. I'm really glad the drugs seem to be having great success and lives are being saved.
Jim Trump was being hyperbolic. Even someone extremely cognitively challenged could have picked that up. Did you watch the press conference, or did you just lazily copy and paste an outlet that has shown relentless disdain for Donald Trump?
Pat everybody knows the guidelines. Common sense, social distancing, hand washing, cough/sneeze into your elbow. Self-isolation if you think you may have it and get tested if possible. After that it's up to the authorities and health workers on the front lines.
Projecting the worst ain't gonna do you any good. Trump promised nothing. He's projecting positivity - which is well needed. He also touted the possibility of opening certain parts of the country, DEPENDING ON THE DATA. Like I said, solutions-oriented.
