Oh how things have changed, My Dad was in television in Detroit at WXYZ from 1946 when they first signed on the air until 1956, I remember him telling me about live commercials, One time he was doing a live spot for pork and beans in their new silicone lined cans and how the beans would just flow out of the can when you opened it and poured. For him he happened to get an old can and nothing happened.

In the case of the Tesla the battery is the entire underside of the chassis. I would guess in 5 or 6 years from now they might have the technology to rebuild them.
