RE: It Ain't Paradise any longer

I just had to google how far Santa Monica is from Paradise as the youngest granddiva lives there. She should be safe 450 miles away.

Very sad story. As much as I love living on the West Coast, their disasters scare me more than living in hurricane alley. Sometimes it's the roll of the dice.

Animal Dreams

Nam, I too have had to wake some dogs when I thought they were having a bad dream.

Bif , Bella is the first dog I've had that thunks her tail when sleeping but even then it is not all that often.

Countryside I think you are the only other person I've met so far whose had a tail thinking dog too.

Viek - I bet you put your dogs to sleep, I like the elevator theme going lower, it almost worked on me.

Animal Dreams

I've had flat nosed dogs before and they make funny snores when they sleep. Even this three pound Chi snores in her sleep, again it always makes me grin.

RE: "THE GOOD SIDE"

Absolute excellent blog!

I'm all about random acts of kindness

RE: The social media 'threat'

Social Media is certainly a way to advertise but it sure bites if they put up bad reviews and there are so many places to put it besides Yelp. A big one is google, facebook and can't remember the others.

RE: So tired of being afraid

I too have those morbid scary thought sneak into a tired brain. However I noticed the other day when my mobile phone started screaming an emergency alert for a Tornado Warning and to take cover, I decided to take a nap. I felt very at easy if I have to go, I'm going in my sleep with my little dog, if this is meant to be, so be it.

Sure enough four tornadooes touched down around me and I emerged unscathed. It might not have been a smart thing to do but what is huge is that I was not the least bit afraid. That's a first!

Discovery

He won't touch bread no matter what I say as I've already told him about whole grains, he still won't touch whole grains. Maybe a potato once in a blue moon. I would die for his will power.

Discovery

Oh yeah don't forget the fungus among us in my garden, in this tropical weather I have to learn how to fight fungus too.

RE: My recent random stuff

and your point is???

RE: 13 People shot dead in California bar by sole gunman

No matter where you turn in America we are having a mass shooting. As pro gun as I used to be I'm certainly rethinking my stance.

We have more bad people with easy access to guns then we do good people to protect us.

RE: Fish head soup...

Can't tell what is in those fritters but it looks homemade and yummy.

Cutting Back

It would be dangerous to depend on fishing here as we suffer from Red Tide.

RE: Old sailors' myth?

I never thought about it but I'm a name changer on most all my rescued pets. Never saw any confusion from them as they readily adapted to their new names. I would usually wait before renaming them until their name just came to me or maybe to my heart.

RE: Where's my friend Ysabel?

Thanks for checking in but next time you take a sabatical, let us know you will be gone. I'm a worry wort. (just ask my kids)

RE: Importing Stray Pets from Other Countries

Sometimes we just don't know what kind of bond can happen between man and animal. I'll share a story that happened just once in my life, never-the-less it happened. I walked into a bookstore of some local psychic once long ago, there was a tiny dog on the floor that put a spell on me and I had to have her. The owner said she wasn't for sale, no way. I beg, I pleaded, I offered a blank check and the rings off my fingers, she still said no. I asked her to take my phone number and if she ever changed her mind to please call me. A blank check? That was not my style so I don't know what made me offer that.

Low and behold the next morning that woman called me and offered the dog to me for $125 a huge amount way back then but I gladly paid it. Then my next problem was that I was newly married and I had to figure out how to tell me groom as he was out of town at the time. He let me get away with the dog (it was my money not his) and thus there was a strong bond with me and Magic, that little dog. I would never dream of going to a shop to buy a dog so no idea what possessed me to fall in love with that dog our bond was unbreakable.. I've only done rescue's since, That bond is what made my hubby always say when he came back he would want to come back as one of my dogs.

Now I tease my little dog and ask her if she is my ex? Then I tell her if she is she is lucky as hell.

Cutting Back

KN yep when I was young with land I did gardening and roped my kids into helping. My son hates helping but he married a wife who loves to grow her food so he is roped in again, and like you at least he knows the basics. I'm also with you on the fact that I like knowing what is going into my food and I'm not paying organic prices for fake advertising.

Fake news and fake advertsing is taking over.

RE: Importing Stray Pets from Other Countries

Ohhh that video just breaks my heart. I don't have an issue with someone bringing a resued pet back either. Maybe I would have an issue if they went to another country instead of their own just to do a rescue. Every story is different so I would have to hear their story and then I could tell them my opinion but any time I hear of a rescue I'm grateful.

I understand your thinking, I just think differently on this subject.

RE: Potluck

This neighborhood community has a pot luck once a month too. Pot lucks are great as we all bring a dish. Some of the best dishes I've sampled have been at pot luck where every one cooks so differently.

Fun stuff.

RE: Slippers... they're not just for the bedroom anymore!

Oh and I've seen slipper and pjs being worn in public too. I don't go to Walmart so it is more than just there.

RE: Slippers... they're not just for the bedroom anymore!

I leave my shoes at front doors out of habit. I don't require people to take their shoes off when entering my house but I sure appreciate it if they do. My son and his family are good at taking their shoes off but not the rest of my family. Most of my friends don't take their shoes off either but most workers do.

RE: A Long Haul

Oh I know you, it will be easier in no time. Lordy I admire your determination. I would have fallen on the exucse, "it's too painful" to go hiking. Pretty soon it probably won't be painful either.

RE: Where's my friend Ysabel?

I was wondering also.

RE: Meeting up with an old girlfriend...

That was cute - did your neighbor hood have any tricker or treaters?

RE: You can't make this stuff up.....but some people apparently do.

doh

RE: Is It Soup Yet?

I absolutely love to cook soups too, one of my favorites or as Rachel Ray would call it, stoups the mix of stew and soup, so I make a lot of stoups.

When I finally get tomatoes to grow I will can some like stewed tomatoes, oh Imp it is so easy and probably more so with that InstantPot. Then I like to make Salsa too. Down here we do fried green tomatoes and you would probably love those as well, it's a big hit in my tummy.

I hope I get to grow enough zucchini to freeze me some zoodles. Did you do like one zucchini to a baggie?

RE: You must say these words: Klaatu Barada Nikto...

I remember watching The Day the Earth Stood Still when I was a wee Lass. I liked it
