Cutting Back

I've never heard of Tesco. But I'm happy to hear they give away.

RE: Surprising Enterprise

Making a little extra bread and butter (as I call it) money can never hurt, plus it is great advertising as well. Facebook's market place has turned into a very nice niche for selling too. Calendars should sell for you when you do your markets as well.

The only advise I can give is do not tie up your cash flow in inventory which is one of the biggest mistakes small business make, myself included made that very mistake.

RE: Surprising Enterprise

What a brilliant idea. Oh how fun it could be to take pics of Firemen, one for each month too.

Sunsets and winter scenes are great too.

When you get rich you can hire a chore fairy. That is one thing I miss giving up is the housekeeper I had when I worked full time. Now I'm my own housekeeper.

RE: A loo with a view...

That's what happened to me. When I lived in Orlando and bought this home in Tampa I thought I would be able to rent it out until I retired, what a great tax advantage that would be, however no renting is allowed and what a great neighborhood or community that makes. Owners take better care of their homes and of course you don't have to deal with slum lords renting to druggies or low lifes.

I would not dream of NOT locking my doors in Orlando but in this community I forget to lock my door all the time. Of course it being a 55 plus community means our generation is not likely to have all the electronic gadgets that thieves are looking for.

If you don't take shortcuts and vet renters well it is a wise investment to rent out your home as a rule. Renting can be a nightmare though if you get bad tenants. But everything is a write off. I hope you have a financially creative accountant that can guide you through some grey areas that will benefit you.

Again good luck in this adventure. I still don't understand why you don't want to retire to China.

RE: How do you date...

Not the dating question I expected is right! I was preparing an answer only to throw it out the window. Your question is too hard for me.

Cutting Back

I think I may have been misleading about my finances - I'm not there yet where I have to cut back but I know I will someday and I need to learn how. I have to quit buying anything I want just because I want it.

Over all I'm a very healthy eater but every now and then I like to be lazy. I got those frozen pizzas today, I had intended to get the shrimp and some ribs on sale too BUT the butchers were out and one told me they just knocked the price of chicken down and I got like six pounds of chicken thighs (my favorite part) for two dollars, what a deal. Came home separated it and froze it before going to the festival.

My gardening is expensive because I'm killing more than I'm growing for the last many months. I also bought two raised garden beds that were pretty spendy. Then I had compost delivered because the compost I'm making is going to take several months. Nothing is cheap YET. I will get there, I have confidence that I will figure this all out. I'm living on you tube with gardening and I was never a you tube girl.

I finally sprouted an avacado seed after six failed attempts only to learn unless I get it grafted it will not produce fruit. One step forward, two steps back, that's the road I travel.

Also I've planted a lot of seeds from the foods I buy - and they are sprouting all over but I forgot to put little signs of what they are so I have no clue what I'm growing now. I won't do that anymore, I'm tagging everything.

I reuse baggies too. I don't have to I just choose to live by the code waste not, want not. Wish I could have some chickens but then the neighbors would shoot me.

RE: A loo with a view...

I have to small skylights in my home, one in the master bath and one over the bar area, however the dead man who lived here painted over them. I'm dumb founded. No way to know why. He did some wierd things to this home.

Good luck Chat. Just remember if you get unhappy with this condo you still better live in it at least to years to avoid any capital gains tax (if there is a gain) and sadly those condo fees are not deductible unless you rent it out. I like owning in an area where no one is allowed to rent. Renters don't take care of rentals.

89th Birthday

And what an enjoyable sound it made as he slowly deflated

Phfffffffffff

Nope, that was me, I tooted sorry

89th Birthday

NOT always wise - I meant to sayo not always wise.

89th Birthday

Happy Birthday Dad, hope your aches and pains take a holiday today.

Crest, Dad will never see this but I havn't a problem telling him I wished him a happy day on a dating site. It would go over his head anyways. My heart felt like saying HB and I didn't care who read it, I always wonder too when I see someone else post something to someone that will never see it

phew I had a hart time explaining that

RE: I love life - 3 for the love of nature - 2

That would be Sunset Jim. I forgot where Stuart, FL is. I very rarely hear that city's name. I think it is a little podunk town.

RE: Fork it over, Fork it under...

I thought so hence my curiosity on a forked blog wave

RE: When will Brits learn to speak English?

LadyImp said;

niche - it's pronounced neesh - NOT nitch! If you're going to use the words, learn how to pronounce them for heaven's sake!

My all time favourite.

voilá - It's pronounced vwa-la - It's NOT wal-la. The v is pronounced and again, if you're going to use it, learn how to spell and pronounce it!

I'm an American butcher and never knew it. This is the first I've heard of these correct pronounciations.

However I won't remember it tomorrow and will probably keep on butchering them.

RE: Fork it over, Fork it under...

Hey Chat, do you use Chopsticks or a fork?

I do the cutting and hand swapping. I try to remember to practice with Chop Sticks but I'm a spaz.

RE: When will Brits learn to speak English?

My precious daughter-in-law is Chinese with her English challenging me to understand but she does so much better than I do Chinese.

The word that was hardest to understand was vinegar. She was saying wine-eh-gah, now I know winegar means vinegar.

RE: school bus accident here in Dead Sea

This is indeed tragic news, my heart goes out to all the family and community.

RE: Really REALLY honest profile comments

I would go with Harb and door #9

RE: united we stand---divided we fall

Hi Fiery, I've been here about six months now so I know nothing of candykisses except I love the name.

I'm with Biff, I may hate the actions but not the person. I have no room in my heart for hate because it simply tastes awful and makes me do bad things.

I enjoy the feelings of gratitude when I ponder. I have really developed (worked on it for years) a "so what, who cares" attitude.

Welcome back and look forward to more blogs. Great responses as well.

MD Immigrants

I knew what you meant Biff and thank you for the kind words KNenagh and others.

I'm starting to feel at home, well more like a vacation home where I come to relax.

RE: Remember The Great Quotes

"A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned" Ben Franklin

For some reason that has resonated in me since I was a young gal.

RE: Remember The Great Quotes

I like to discuss events and ideas. Science goes over my head but I love philosophy.

RE: A little Irish happiness .....

That squirrel is doing the pee pee dance if I ever saw one. I can relate.

RE: Off topic

OMG there is an app for Quora.

I want to research that. I too am a bit fed up with the political bashing that goes on. Politics is a fine subject when everyone acts like mature adults but when the mud slinging starts it's not for me.

RE: A Restless Night

I've been here several months now and still haven't tried the forums. Is there a lot of the political BS over there too?

A Broken Heart

Thank you for all the well wishes everyone.

RE: CS thought of the day

I went through a stage in life where that was my motto.

A Broken Heart

Not only do I love my new grandson, I'm crazy about my son's wife. Lordy I love and admire that woman! Hope my son keeps up with her.

RE: Raining again

I wish it were raining here. Florida is called The Sunshine State and yet we often get daily downpours, however the thirsty sand just absorbs it so nothing stays wet long. My garden needs that rain. When I lived in Seattle there was always a drizzle in the air but unlike here it was never brutally hot nor did I have to worry about bugs, snakes or gators, just earthquakes. Here it is hurricanes.

Enjoy your drizzle by a warm fireplace with a good book?

A Broken Heart

Thank you Chat, Ysab and Jim.

Dating sites can work because he met his wife on Plenty of Fish.

RE: How Grandma, brought up and moulded grandkids

I have a close bond with my adult granddivas but I was a wild and crazy granny that would never tell them no. I adored being able to spoil them. Just last year I inherited a 9 yr old grandson and this is going to be a fun one to spoi but I'm not as wild and cray around him, yet.
