Songs I don't get tired of hearing...

I first heard this song about 15 years ago and I believe it was created by college music & arts students in China. Originally written and recorded by Michael Wong. The girlfriend dies of leukemia in his video. I prefer this version where she goes through chemotherapy and lives.

For years I chased this video, but all my YouTube searches brought up many covers, some good and some not so good.

The 2 Chinese characters is pronounced Tong Hua (tónghuà) and translates to fairy tale.

If you find it a tear jerker, give me a like!

New life in an old condo...

So the old woman is now getting attention her boyfriend couldn't help with. He did his best but her condition has faded. Now, he gets a chance to recuperate as it was wearing him down trying to be 'her everything' and he couldn't continue on the way he did.
win-win

The landlord probably purchased the unit 5 to 7 years ago at a really good price, rented it and made a profit. The current prices in this development have peaked out and they will quadruple their investment by selling it now.

So what?

We're getting a break on gas prices this winter...

Yes, but let's not get into the steaming turd economy he was handed when he took office!

Elements in design: Cartouche...

Yes. One original hand carving in wood or stone and castings made for the others can save thousands of these ---> $$

Requirement now. I have a mortgage. I'm not sure what changes, if any if I paid off the loan.

The condo association insurance covers the roof and structure. If a hurricane blows the windows in, it's my responsibility. Something like, the windows are mine although they are attached to their building. Lots of residents have impact windows and upgrade at their expense. A smaller percentage have the metal accordion shutters for hurricanes.
I wouldn't mind getting Bahama shutters as part of my unit gets the evening sun.

News out of Daytona Beach, some condo owners are facing a 500% insurance rate hike.

The shoes on or off controversy...

Is that answer enough to make you run to old whatshisnames blog and tattle?

The shoes on or off controversy...

A-nail is your prerogative.
Most people think it's being cautious.

The shoes on or off controversy...

FF, a few things. Most tradesmen are required to wear steel toe shoes. It's insurance regulation. They don't have to be boots as they actually make shoes and sports shoes with steel toe protection.

That said, they have to wear booties over the work shoes when working in a clients house.

Having dated Asian women for 30+ years I'm aware of the traditions and comply when necessary, but I've always found it contaminates my shoes. I'll bring an extra pair of socks.

The same thing when going through airport security... maybe it's okay for everyone to walk 30 feet over dirty carpet that 10,000 people travel over each week and put your shoes back on. I wear some really old socks and trash them, putting on clean socks when I collect my luggage and sit on the nearest bench to put my shoes back on.

The shoes on or off controversy...

By the way you question me, it appears my lifestyle decisions are perplexing to you.
Pretty simple. Barefoot only in my shower. I step out to a towel on the floor. Beach shower or the pool shower, I'm wearing flip-flops.

Considering the many non-working remedies including some from a podiatrist, Jublia at $400 a bottle was the mojo. I've told a few people and they thanked me.

Let's talk about heel spurs for a moment... walking barefoot, especially on hard surfaces like marble, tile or cement, brings on extreme foot pain. I don't walk barefoot in my house and I wouldn't do it in yours. I went to a podiatrist who was short and fat. When he and his wife went to the opera, he had to wear thin sole shoes and suffered if he didn't take 2 Advil before the event. Stating to me he only did 6 or 7 surgeries a year for heel spurs, take the precaution as the surgery is painful and you'll be out of commission for a few weeks.

Trump has publicly stated in many ways that he wants to remove the bits that enable citizens to create change for the better.

Liz Cheney has been in the news lately giving warnings that if he were to be elected, the Republicans would eagerly follow along with his plan.

Did you get a headache from it? I rarely drink champagne as it gives me headaches.

On the subject of tiny violins, I just got the condo insurance renewal.
This year I paid $1,054.
Next year is going to be $1,927 and that includes discounts for not filing a claim and paying up front.

"I am not obsessed with Trump"
You should be.
I see you aren't heeding the warning signs.

So right now, it's going to be a choice between an old guy who you dislike his foreign policy versus a guy proved to be a liar, cheat, guilty of corporate fraud, immoral, womanizer, tied to a treasonous conspiracy to overthrow the government and teetering on prison.

Yeah, I get it.

I considered throwing in a laugh emoticon, but this isn't funny.

Fiberglass shingles are much cheaper (than tiles) when re-roofing, but they have less insulating value are only rated for 10 to 15 years and rarely can withstand more that 65mph winds.

I redid a roof with barrel tiles and paid extra for a 3rd layer of tar paper that added 5 more years to the lifespan.

Keep in mind, buying a 30 year old house with the original roof puts you in the zone for roof replacement.

At the time, my neighbor used fiberglass shingles. After a hurricane, I went outside to inspect the damage only to find lots of triangular shaped brown things that looked like brown tortilla chips in my front yard. I turned to his side and realized they were pieces of shingles that had snapped off in what was probably a twister scattering them around the area.

On is lying on his personal social media outlet TRUTH.
He again stated the New York fraud trial is rigged and a witch hunt.

Besides, I will be testifying on Monday in this shameful, NO JURY ALLOWED ‘TRIAL.’

I've covered that his attorneys neglected to 'check the box' requesting a trial by jury.
He wasn't denied, but people who follow him and not read the (fake) news will believe his propaganda.

Trump and most US politicians are just empty cans that rattle the loudest..

Butcher, think logically here.
This man has the power to control millions. He wants to change the Constitution to suit himself and is getting the support of the Republicans. Lies spew from his mouth and they don't contest him. I find it frightening and it's the old story if you put a tyrant into power, you've lost.

RE: Presidential Immunity

News tonight:
Two D.C. courts on Friday shot down former President Donald Trump's presidential immunity claims related to January 6 and his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss.

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan on Friday ruled that being president does not equate to "a lifelong 'get-out-of-jail-free' pass."

"Former Presidents enjoy no special conditions on their federal criminal liability," she wrote. "Defendant may be subject to federal investigation, indictment, prosecution, conviction, and punishment for any criminal acts undertaken while in office."

Chutkan also shut down Trump's argument that the case presents a violation of his First Amendment rights, as his attorneys have alleged that his challenging of the election via claims of election fraud was a protected act of free speech.

"It is well established that the First Amendment does not protect speech that is used as an instrument of a crime," Chutkan observed. "Defendant is not being prosecuted simply for making false statements ... but rather for knowingly making false statements in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy and obstructing the electoral process."

Not all of Florida has HOA's
Miami has lots of older houses in neighborhoods without.
Suggestion is to get a single family house outside a major city, half-way up the state so you're not in a flood zone and away for the hurricane corridor.

Mercedes, thanks for the information. Personally, I suffer from lumbar pain and had an MRI last month. My doctor prescribed physical therapy visits to help strengthen my lower back.
