Lost women of science - Women in drag

@grand let me point out to you this thread has nothing to do with trans people or transvestism, but rather the whole gender who could not attend university simply because they were female, and so some assumed men's clothing to escape rejection and ejection. Sophie Germain achieved significant discoveries in both maths and physics and insisted on attending lectures, thus having to wear male disguise.

Perhaps you will see some of @hooha's personal remarks have disappeared. Either he will learn or the disappearances will persist - in MY blogs at least. Got that chum?

RE: coward!

@OP many comments, and also threads have disappeared of late. It happens. You have already been told that is the case. Your deleted posting was inoffensive, and to have deleted it seems to make no sense. Why not make such a generous assumption instead of the more negative one you have made and have fulminated about here? As the idiom goes: 'dont get (your knickers in a knot/all bitter and twisted)'

You actually believe that? The heavy labour, the manual jobs are becoming fewer and fewer and the demand for intellectual capability is ever increasing. Architects Engineers Security and Data analysts Mathematicians Technicians Researchers Academics - all ever more in demand, where are they to be sourced? It seems you argue for the sake of arguing even if that evinces poor logic. With increasing AI and Robotics replacing the more menial tasks can you not see the logic or harvesting the wealth that is available?

@hooha I also have a cartoon image in mind for you, couldn't find one near enough, but it is of a horse's hindquarters, tail flicked in the air ... shall I add one that is almost close enough? You are fond of the personal jibes, I see... but have nothing vaguely intelligent to add to the various threads, do you?

Lost women of science - Women in drag

@hoo the inferior males, what is more, resenting the smarter female competition, gang-up on and make life unbearable for their superior counterparts. Knowing this fewer of the females are willing to enrol in such courses. We need the smart females in the STEM subjects! But it is social and familial attitude and bias too. Yet there are more women graduates andpostgraduates - 57:43 overall in Canada, but in maths/IT 30:70, and in Arch/Eng 20:80.

Sitting on the balcony in the warm winter sun

No bookings for the afternoon, a welcome break, so a stroll up the hill to the local pub for leisurely lunch. Puzzling parking piques the curiosity! (as do alliterative p's)

@hoo I was in IT for 45 years as a programmer. Back in the 60s and 70s, a team of 50 programmers and analysts, 3 females, and I had hired them! It didn't improve a lot over the years. 2000-2012 25 programmers, 2 females. On the trading floor, 40 traders, one female. Even a cognitively impaired person would know the numbers did not stack up, that something was missing.

RE: Political Interference

60 dismissed cases, and many many many Republican voices confirming he had lost. Beyond reasonable doubt he knew it and that should be enough, unless he cares to claim cognitive problems. Perhaps too the evidence in this case will bring some of the delusional American public to their senses.
Stolen Election? Idiots!

Lost women of science - Women in drag

Half the female world is smarter than half the male world. When we need a smart world it makes no sense to run it dominated by inferior males. If technology needs the smartest people, how does 80% male make sense?

RE: Political Interference

@grand Well of course I do not take you seriously, but I do indeed think carefully and take pain to express what I think likewise. I repeat: the reputation of US globally has fallen mightily, going back to the Bush Jnr era and even earlier with the various and continuing middle east misadventures. But it has plummeted since Trump took over, reneging on various agreements. With a quieter calmer period of an uninspired Biden there is a levelling out, the world does not expect brilliance, yet there is a sense of relief.

Well well well! Aus vs Can 4-0

Down to the final 16; some, several probably, will be decided via penalty shootouts - nail-biting times those, for players and audiences alike.

RE: One Belt and Road Initiative growing stronger

but the French DID manage to sink a ship in Auckland harbour, even got the perpetrators released to freedom in France after 2 years

RE: Please don't cry...

The so-called co-conspirators are unnamed, and uncharged, at least not in this indictment
It is worthwhile recalling that Powell used as a defence 'no rational person could take my words seriously' referring to the claims of stolen votes

Well well well! Aus vs Can 4-0

... but no counting chickens with the coming Denmark match, and the warning of under-performance against the likes of Nigeria. Incredibly, South Africa through, Italy, Brazil, Germany out, Jamaica, Jamaica in!

RE: Political Interference

@opThe fact is that America has been greatest for almost 150 years - no dispute! Yet they have mightily diminished their worldwide respect in this century, and the MAGA campaign continues and accelerates the downslide. You guys have no idea what damage has been done to your reputation and how the respect dwindles.

RE: Political Interference

@plumOh sure you have! You found it on ther internet perchance, or some American deep-throat emailed it to you? But your delusional idiocy is matched or exceeded by perhaps millions of equally gullible Americans. Strange strange indeed that the likes of @plum @chance @super and @ozzie should share such absurd beliefs! But there you go (no accounting for human thought - one at least born every minute, and Trump takes advantage of it) from your own 'mouths'!

RE: Trump’s DC Judge Worked For Law Firm That Employed Hunter Biden, Lobbied For Burisma

@op On the face of it, all that makes her admirably qualified to hear the case against Trump. Note that her previous finding against Trump was upheld on appeal, whereas the Trump appointed Florida judge's favourable finding was overturned on appeal. Trumps railing against judges seems to be based on whether he thinks he 'has them in his pocket' wouldn't you agree? Nothing you have said indicates any association of Chutkan with with Biden Jnr or Ukraine Energy. Nor was it the law firm itself that lobbied for Burisma, rather it was the lobbying company Blue Star Strategies. You like to deviate into shady semi-truth don't you?

RE: Political Interference

Attacks by Trump on Judges appointed to hear his cases - he commonly makes claims of Clinton appointment bias and so on. Interesting tactic to claim the justice system is so politically biased, perhaps he is doing so planning to lodge time-wasting appeals based on unfairness.

@op Your words or a quote? To be verbally attacked by Trump as all have been and have no recourse except tp maintain integrity must of course rankle, but that is the Trump intention perhaps, hoping thereby to push them to exceed judicial impartiality.

@chancer That is an absurd and libellous assertion. Judges do not make such partisan decisions. You are swallowing Trump's claims of bias and letting them colour your thinking.

RE: Latest on Joe Biden

@10-of @Lou did not ask for proof, the @op merely stated that she had. She had not. The @op certainly provided no proof in the first place anyway, mere speculation.

RE: Supermoon...

Given the lunar period is about 29.53 days, the chance of two full moons in a 31 day month is approx 1.47/31 or about 1/21 (full moon on the first day of the month). In fact in China today, being the day of full moon, it is Aug 1st, so we can increase the odds perhaps to 2.47/31 or about 1/13 somewhere in the world where it wasx 31-July. There are seven 31-day months in a year so once in every 2-3 years is about right. They say it happens twice in August, so it must also have happened twice in July in another part of the earth.

RE: Latest on Joe Biden

You know almost none of those assertions. You simply state or guess or speculate or hope there might be some truth in them.
Never having been introduced to or informed by the parent (the mother) hard to see how it is joyous. Your inserted words are they? And admit is a loaded word, is it not, suggesting concealment or explicit denial, and perhaps no knowledge either. There was no concealment.
There has been zero proof to date, so more proof is pretty specious. Nothing you have reported or repeated here so far has any ring of credible truth, let alone proof. Repetition is not proof.

There was also a crash in March off Jervis Bay, MRH-90, but with 10 crew on that occasion, two injured.

For a change - some Mongolian music

Guzheng of course. Looking at the pipa, I wonder why it has such a wide fretboard below the 12th fret, seems pointless since half of it is empty of strings!

For a change - some Mongolian music

Civil War in Yemen

USA is with personnel and arms, other countries are in the form of weapon sales.

RE: The Twitter bird is gone...

Musk is only one of the world's wealthiest men because his wealth is measured by his Tesla share price - which with a PE ratio 75 is grosssssssssssssssssssly over-rated. Compare with Mazda at 7 and Toyota at 12 both with far higher production.
