RE: Agent Zelensky

Why would one address claims made without a shred of evidence. Should I happen to claim you are on the take from Ritter because you promote his youtube, would you sugeest that be investigated too? There is no way we have to pursue this stuff. But if it is not credible and is unsupported we should probably dismiss it, don't you think? Why did you think it was credible and worthy of passing on as you have?

RE: Latest on Joe Biden

Talking about not having guns, we don't have 380 plus mass shootings in schools, churches, gay bars concerts and the like either. Oh poor benighted Aussies! Slaves to commonsense. These are the evidence of American democracy and freedom I guess. Also 4 times the covid death rate in Australia, the right to refuse rebel and reject vaccine, I suppose. A million plus of you have died so far celebrating that glorious right. Do you wear a seat belt perchance? Shuck it off, an infringement on god-given right surely!

RE: Latest on Joe Biden

Doesn't feel in the least vital to me! Has all the hallmarks of biased conspiracy theory beat-up. Just another media invented issue to encourage polarised America to distance further and oppose even louder. But for the flagrant lies and incitation to revolt I do indeed hope potus45 gets his come-uppance. With 300m+ guns, there could yet be one helluva OK corral!

RE: Morón...

any relative of macaron
Embedded image from another site

macaron is meringue based ... haven't had one since childhood, but I see them in photos my daughter sends me from French pâtisseries. (I can type ñ and â - alt-0241 and alt-0226, but not ó)

RE: Agent Zelensky

@op are you asserting that everything Ritter claims about Zelenskiy, without evidence, is factual? Highly dubious. Totally unsubstantiated. There is prison history for underage sex offences, and suggestion of Russian 'honey-potting' and a Russian wife. Of course I am not claiming these in themselves are evidence of lies, but what he says is scarcely evidence either.

RE: I am beginning to become a pretty decent cook!

@lou if you look up legendary Canadian cuisine, it all seems to come from Quebec - how on earth can they like soggy chips with gravy and cheese!? poutine? Yuk! But it somehow seems an appropriate accompaniment to the dishes displayed here

RE: Book Banning in America

@op Aldous Huxley - the scene that sticks in my mind is from Eyeless in Gaza - the dog thrown from the plane - kersplunk. Almost 70 years since I read it but there is the memory! Far more vivid than the Alphas and Betas
Here from a vanished hero of mine:

RE: We are The Xennials

Xennials?I am a baby boomer although wiki says 1946. I was born the week of the atomic bombs, the outcome of returning combatants.

RE: Possession of stolen Israeli artifacts...

@gone: it is not possible to be reasonable or 'objective' about this grotesque buffoon. We mourn for an America where some commonsense prevails.

@jac 14°C? That's a cold winters day here! Here now at 6pm mid-winter it's 15°C, but for you it is muggy???

RE: Greenhouse Gases

RE: Greenhouse Gases

I think most governments, including your own, are making serious efforts to reduce methane from livestock and agriculturehttps://www.dcceew.gov.au/climate-change/emissions-reduction/agricultural-land-sectors/livestock

RE: I am beginning to become a pretty decent cook!

Beef Wellington was the first dish I cooked for my then girlfriend and her children in New Zealand way back in about 1970, I was using a famous french cook book. I made the mistake of making the puff pastry myself, and that was a disaster, not knowing how to keep it cold enough. Lunch took place after 3:30pm ... but the beef itself was amazing!

RE: Depression & mental illness

Ah, I see you have mislaid one of my erudite comments, alas. But never mind, I just happen to have a copy so I can thoughtfully restore it for you.
Now there's a doozy worthy of note! Well in Australia we have implemented NDIS - National Disability Insurance Scheme - which can indeed provide carers with respite relief. It can be hard indeed for the carers to accept and avail themselves of such respite.
Referring to your 8 and 40 year sentences, it is worthwhile reflecting that both carer and afflicted are often sentenced for life.
I too had hitherto seen few or no threads about mental illness.

RE: Locks in the forums...

I see the moderator comment about 50 pages is patently inaccurate. The 'some things that are old' blog is unlocked at 80 pages, but the 'Merc here lately' blog has been moderator locked at 82 pages. Just do a sort on the 'order by comments' heading. In fact there have been less unexplained disappearances just these last few days, the one of mine 'disappeared' is quite explicable due to ill-concealed expletives. The Canuck Jesus blog, currently in fourth place, sadly has only reached 25 pages so we can expect to see it getting bumped for another two or three years! laugh

RE: Would you date a writer?

perhaps not - unwise if the name happened to be Salman R! Mind you, he's notched up a literal handful already.

RE: gotta love truth

@bob well in fact, as cretinous commodities the two of you indeed qualify as fungible.

RE: MIGRANT CROSSINGS TO UK

This is a global problem and Britain has the advantage of distance-filter compared with Greece Italy Spain France. There seems to be no humane solution. Australia has the advantage of being an island continent, but they too have stuffed up with inhumane refugee policies. I have no answer, but compassion surely is the right way.

RE: AUSTRALIA V ENGLAND cricket fuss

Congratulate? Come off it! It was obvious they were 50 runs shy of a challenging total, and I had placed Eng at 2:1 to win with 250 to chase. Did you congratulate the 5-zip loss in Australia? Did I congratulate the Botham 1981 victory in England? Not bloody likely!!!

RE: AUSTRALIA V ENGLAND cricket fuss

Justice? Silly-billy! And what gives with the Warner obsession? Was the whitewash in Australia a few years ago also 'justice'?

RE: Useless trivia

@CW is that your idea of a joke, or just a unique display of ignorance?
The original chinese fruit was very much smaller.

RE: Aurora Borealis...

Here now is the best time to see Aurora Australis - mid-winter months. Rarely if ever seen as far north as Sydney, but in Tasmania, even the great south road, yes quite visible. I suppose if there is sun activity giving rise to Aurora Borealis, Aurora Australis is also likely to be visible, particularly in this winter season.

China bans the use of Micron's chips by major Chinese firms - America claims 'no factual basis'

Creating the HarmonyOS clone is not quite the same thing as cloning Android, and there are down-the-track issues with software developers - in access to the Android or HarmonyOS SDKs for example. USA has created a palpable and widening split by their actions. Standardisation is out the window.

China bans the use of Micron's chips by major Chinese firms - America claims 'no factual basis'

This too sooner or later will surely provoke retaliation. Why hasn't China taken this to WTO?

RE: AUSTRALIA V ENGLAND cricket fuss

you're joking! Well if not, you are certainly laughable! check up some of the other youtubes - check up for the key words 'bairstow stumping hypocrisy' Plenty of hits, several blatant occasions and from his own mouth 'all within the rules'
