RE: Songs I don't get tired of hearing...

Speaking of Brecht, nothing of his ever tires or fades ... listen to the rrrrrrrrrrrrr in these songs also in Italian

RE: Songs I don't get tired of hearing...

Doing the Chinese retro thing, who can forget 'meigui meigui wo ai ni'

and a Frankie Laine version...

RE: I've Not Seen Merc Here Lately - (aka "A Prior Chatting Blog")

As far as I know
no one
thinks of you
as a bogan
and if they do
who gives a stuff
a shrug is enough
you're surely a rogue one

RE: Validity of Freewill

Well I can remember leaving and being left and having no choice either way. Pain both ways.

RE: Songs I don't get tired of hearing...

And another - ask your wife about it - 'Ouran' (by chance) a famous poem.

RE: I've Not Seen Merc Here Lately - (aka "A Prior Chatting Blog")

Bail bondsman? For that gargoyle? Reminds me however of the second of two (only two) Tarantino movies I really like - Jackie Brown
Pam Grier ... Jackie Brown
Samuel L. Jackson Samuel L. Jackson ... Ordell Robbie
Robert Forster Robert Forster ... Max Cherry
Bridget Fonda Bridget Fonda ... Melanie Ralston
Michael Keaton Michael Keaton ... Ray Nicolette
Robert De Niro Robert De Niro ... Louis Gara

Quite a list of stars. I'd be Max Cherry doing the collecting, coz that cheapskate would be sure to do a runner. I cannot remember Keaton in it.

@pat cane toad country
toast one, roast one grill one tomorrow
It's sure to thrill some
and perhaps bring sorrow
ah them's the gotchas

RE: I've Not Seen Merc Here Lately - (aka "A Prior Chatting Blog")

@merc I always do better with women than with men! Good thing, that, aintit! When I go to the local RSL club on occasion, I see the punters, male of course, casting dark glares when I dare to chat with a female! That's as bad as wearing a hat (or a bicycle helmet) inside.

RE: I've Not Seen Merc Here Lately - (aka "A Prior Chatting Blog")

Lame rhymes
are coming
thick and fast.
Your feeble humour is largely wasted
you'd do much better
if you copy-pasted!
this I assure you
Is the very last
I'll respond no more
to jibes or ribbing
however ribald
to complete the couplet
(it's almost true)
Please don't suggest
I try bald

RE: Why does god feel it necessary to create Bad Eggs?

Hey, and @rose just because we don't agree about THAT doesn't mean I don't like you!!!

RE: Why does god feel it necessary to create Bad Eggs?

but there it is, is it not? still wrong syllable count ...

RE: Why does god feel it necessary to create Bad Eggs?

@rose
Well yes and no
too many words for haiku
but there it is it not?

RE: Why does god feel it necessary to create Bad Eggs?

Well it's a curious thing,
don't you think,
when I hear you argue thus,
I am inclined to argue otherwise
now why would that be?

there is something indeed about being just argumentative that raises the hackles?

RE: Sydney Powell files a response to Dominion lawsuit - and it is a good defense.

No it is not a good defence, she blatantly slandered on camera, and libelled in print.

RE: Euthanasia...

@chat - the cat sounds a bit like me! could you give me their details please?

RE: Painted-on eyebrows...

How about the Japanese eyebrows (hikimayu) of the Heian era?
Not to mention the blackened teeth.

Hikimayu was the practice of removing the natural eyebrows and painting smudge-like eyebrows on the forehead in pre-modern Japan. Women also started painting their teeth black, which is known as ohaguro.

RE: What happens to girls after a long period of fitness

@agent Understand? I doubt it.

RE: In my heart, I do

and to @ysabel greetings too - I had to search for Christmas Island, because it obviously is not Australia's Christmas island, and not many would speak tagalog there for sure. So kiribas, thereabouts?

RE: I've Not Seen Merc Here Lately - (aka "A Prior Chatting Blog")

7:30, the first blue-sky day for two weeks,
sodden lawn
but clothes hung out to dry at last.
Oh but the crickets
have never stopped
and now the kookaburras
call their last evening post.

RE: I've Not Seen Merc Here Lately - (aka "A Prior Chatting Blog")

@merc 'nether'

RE: I've Not Seen Merc Here Lately - (aka "A Prior Chatting Blog")

@merc nowhere near what it used to be ... just had to submit my passport photo, and I see it expired in Aug 2020 - just like my China visa expired Mar 2020. But even if it were still valid, could I go anywhere?

RE: Its a great pity

A few, not so many more, would be good. 1. Block member (or classified group) from thread. 2. Make said member invisible to you locally or globally. 2. Filter OUT select topics rather than filter BY
eg filter out threads which are locked or exclude reply. Filter out GOD and not GOD. Filter out VHK or epirb or willie or Fargofan! Filter out kitchen cabinet makers!

RE: There you are , what did I say .

So you sheet this case down to current POTUS do you? And the massage parlour murders? How about the Chch massacre? Who's the culprit there? And the Las Vegas Massacre? hmmm? try the Kunming station Uighur knife attacks, to remove the common gun feature. Or the road vehicle attacks? Where does your waggly finger point? Seems somewhat selective and self-serving, wouldn't you admit if you could reflect a little?

RE: I wonder why no one is focused on the real important stuff these days.

How to chastise Shopping cart dumpers (without getting beaten up or shot) so that it makes a difference and your street is not littered with abandoned carts.

RE: Canned laughter...

@miclee you thought 'Get Smart' was memorable? Well, need we say more? There used to be a show 'Leave it to Beaver' and my mind is likewise blank in this regard, apart from the title. As a teenager I fancied Shari Lewis and recall Annette Funicello! But as for their show content - nada!

RE: drawing attention to facts.

@crypt and @hpy
When malicious people spread malevolent lies based on bias and religious dementia (such as the author of this thread appears to do), they must be addressed and halted. Defenders of such people are scarcely better. Rather than attack one who defends probable fact against total fiction, you two would do well to consider, reflect, and try some rationality.

RE: Fair or unfair

@ysabel I have rarely if ever met people of whom my initial judgement was wrong (for me). But of course of many I made no initial judgement. I have never met anyone for whom I later received some history that made any difference. Whilst I can imagine such a thing happening, and being affected by such word, it just hasn't happened. What then is behind your question?

RE: On LENT......

@ed Lent originally was perhaps a pagan festival, hence the rutting bunnies and egg symbology. So was Christmas. The Church absorbed pagan festivals being undesirably associated with ... well you know
