RE: Trump Disquaified

Obama, amazingly, made it through without any attempts - plenty of threats of course, but none actually eventuated. Why bother - like me, he is going to kark it soon enough anyway. For the sake of America, the sooner the better, given the damage he has done and does to their global standing. It is a very strange thing indeed that someone so remote from you should inspire such mindless loyalty, incomprehensible really.

RE: Yep, never seen this exorbitant price of fuel during Trump's time

Sorry to disappoint you (not! scold ) but that 'stupid man' continues to breathe, and to preside over a record economy, and to show tolerance even for bigots like yourself.

RE: Why blogs should go on forever

Just as Konrad's attempt at wit is predictably pathetic. The Greeks had the most imaginitive of monsters, Harpies, Gorgons, Sphinx, Chimera, Cyclops... great bed-time story material.

RE: Why blogs should go on forever

AH, you remind us that we can celebrate a full year of absence of that hideous harpy. cheering

RE: Ireland people

@OP This comes from your experience here or does it include other sites? You have many Irish guys contacting you here, yet you have no photo? Unusual, to say the least. Is most 3, or more, or many more? Your statistical sample may not justify your conclusion, may I suggest? But then again maybe it does...
Now whilst I am just an Alter Kaker and male to boot, I have received, I guess either zero or one Irish likes or emails in 3-4 years, but perhaps the Irish Rugby team fancies you!

RE: Paying the piper...

Well yes, perhaps it does. An old expression to do with being a cooked goose (that's not the phrase). You might as well be hanged for a sheep as for a lamb Having copped $140+m penalty already, what's a show of bravado and braggadocio going to cost him. Defiance may be the only pleasure left to him! Besides the whole pack of them are inveterate incorrigible liars.

RE: Ireland people

Yet was it not Ireland that first permitted same-sex marriage, and would you not say that shows sign of great liberalism?

RE: Paying the piper...

... so there will be somw Giuliani asset discovery in the near future I imagine. Skating on thin ice perhaps.

RE: Paying the piper...

@jac Ah! An element of common sense, rarely to be found in the American political or legal scenes of late, I suggest.

RE: Paying the piper...

Of course the problem is they will probably never see a penny of compensation - any assets he has will evaporate in legal fees... his assets should be seized

RE: Name One fact YOU know about Heaven

I would reverse that ordering as well might Salman Rushdie, JFK, MLK. The gun proponents like to spout 'guns don't kill, people do' (you amongst them, I imagine) and equally I suggest gods don't either, but humans do, pretending to act in their god's name. As I said before, I KNOW that the heaven spoken of by Christians, and the Paradise spoken of in the Quran are meaningless things, neither places nor states. Death is death and that's an end to it.

RE: Name One fact YOU know about Heaven

No need. It is something known to me as required by the OP question. Proof of the non-existence of Santa Claus and the absurdity of resurrection and the whole mythology of any religion are unnecessary to me, being self-evident. As is your lack of intellect which you reveal so articulately at every post.

RE: Name One fact YOU know about Heaven

ONE thing I know as a certainty is that 'Heaven' is a nonsensical notion, a figment.

RE: Winter is not coming!

Not to be a doubting Thomas of course, but it is always a good idea to include a timestamp, lest some a-hole like fargofan ask the question ... however:

RE: The shoes on or off controversy...

here the boots come off, but an overshoe makes sense. When someone has been clearing blocked drain in a muddy garden but needs to check for inside blockage or leakage for example or replace LPG with NG from the street as happened recently... By the way, NG is starting to be eliminated by many local councils, that's a big change to lifestyle.

RE: The shoes on or off controversy...

Standard practice in Chinese and Japanese household is to leave 'tuoxie' or slippers for visitors at the entrance or in the lobby. I do that but am barefoot at home. The custom is important enough, and one needs to avoid giving offence when entering a home. As someone whose trade involves entry to every client's home, it is clearly important, yet some like the other commenter here are clearly not given to such perceptions. For a tradesman it makes sense to carry light slippers in the pocket.

RE: No War since 1945, this may just be a different be

Pfizer bankrupt? Far from it, I believe, but downsizing yes.

RE: Another 'who killed JFK' theory...

Yes that's what I meant by Pearl Harbour Dec 41, Sept 11; these things happen and conspiracy theories breed like the wind blows. Now Sonny Liston on the other hand might be a different story.

RE: One Belt and Road Initiative growing stronger

An intriguing question facing China, the Tibetan people and the Dalai Lama, is that of selection of the successor to the current 14th Dalai Lama - sure to be a source of conflict. With his 90th birthday approaching he says he will nominate a successor by then, but any such a choice is unlikely to be acceptable to the CCP - we'll see soon enough! DL14 has suggested Reincarnation may not be involved this time around (as I understand). USA is sure to intrude in there but fun and games are guaranteed!

RE: Another 'who killed JFK' theory...

What? Iike mythology, or like Pearl-Harbour/Twin Towers?

RE: Wow What's Happeniing?

the topic of toast by a twist inevitably brings one to a simple anagram: stoat, just as that of cats, cast the die, turns to scat. But stoats are a major pest in New Zealand it seems, and could be as well in up country Queensland as an agricultural biosecurity project concluded recently. Well did you ever!? Not that there are any stoats in Queensland, but it seems they would flourish if there were - unless they happened to develop a taste for cane toads. It seems that we introduce the most fiendish of 'gods' creatures into our country thinking they will eradicate a scourge rather than xreate yet another. In 14 years in NZ I never happened to see a stoat, but yes lots of gorse brought in to make the homesick poms feel more at home.

RE: It's been an expensive day today, plus I broke my chair

When I replaced my previous computer chair (at a cost of $700+) I insisted they supply a set of 5 replacement casters. The previous chair of perhaps 10 years the casters broke and there were no identically sized casters available, Apparently the spindle part is called a stern.

RE: Judge Cannon...

@gonelikeThose students have made an investment to be there in America. They don't have to swallow all the jingoistic crap that is spouted there. They benefit your economy and contribute culture and variety. They don't have to accept or enthuse about the religious bigotry and racism they hear and experience. But by and large they have chosen to be there and study there and stay there. Your imagined disrespect just reflects your bias or xenophobia or bigotry (take your pick). Who are these foreign 'vermin' (to quote a potential potus47) you want to eradicate?

RE: increase in funerals

Totally untrue! Ever more witless baseless misinformation, lies, from the anti-vaxxers.https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/msu-economics-professor-mark-skidmore-exonerated-over-his-retracted-paper-claiming-that-covid-vaccines-killed-278000/

RE: Xi a ‘Dictator’

Why would I care? I don't. You can celebrate the ODI result... Pathetic Aussies peed on the party.

RE: Xi a ‘Dictator’

Homeless in China abound - as they do anywhere I suspect, including Sydney. In China those wintering in the underpasses I saw were particularly destitute, having at most a cardboard box shell to sleep on. Here they might also have a shopping trolley full of bits and pieces, and there would be Vinnies or Homelessness services providing evening meals, and no ice to chill the marrow. The China homeless were somewhat hidden, probably harassed by the local police.

As to Potus45 and Potus46, both show significant cognitive decline, Trump no less than Biden, and Trump started from a lower point. China is a meritocracy, and at least you can be sure that the leader/dictator has cognitive power too. There is something to be said for selection based on merit, and not subject to the changing whim of the deplorables!

RE: Traitors And Deserters

Logic and reason are anathema to you. You do not have them, and are threatened and 'poisoned' (to quote your word) when confronted with them. Your assertion in this blog is utter nonsense, more so even than one has come to expect.

RE: Traitors And Deserters

Of course using words like 'poison' when you in the title use 'traitors' and 'deserters' does not support your case, if we could call it a case at all. Nor do you reply to the idea of seeking education for female children as a genuine and even admirable reason for emigrating. Emigration, particularly to a country where one's first language is not spoken and qualifications are not recognised, is largely a sacrifice undertaken for the sake of a future generation. Your label of traitor and deserter is just absurd, and you are the one dishing out 'poison'

RE: Traitors And Deserters

So the parents who merely seek a better life for their children, like the right to an education for a daughter, they are traitors and cowards? You have a very narrow view. The Chinese who emigrate for a better life for their children, possibly not born, also traitors and deserters. Strange limits you place. You want to discuss people who emigrate for trivial reasons then do you? Like the right to youtube and google perhaps. Of course I totally disagree with you. Those of Afrikaner background (over 200,000) who came to Australia, they are likewise traitors? They didn't want the de Klerk government or apartheid or non-apartheid, whichever reason, all traitors were/are they?
