According to official studies two thirds is due to different choises men and women make about what jobs they go after. The last part, one third is calculated to be different pay for same work. Right.... so that looks pretty bad on paper.
Then... I had an eureka moment.... Here goes: same work- done by man and women.... is not legal in Norway if they both work in the same sector. That being good, means that a woman who feel discriminated and can show proof has a good case against their employer, so in practicality that will never happen. So how come sometimes the same type of job pays differently? Well... cos sometimes that job is done by a person with higher education and seniority, or it's done in private sector opposed to public sector.

You are right Tiger that Putin could have opted to stay home. That much is true. But .... there are some buts so it was not such an easy call in my mind.
Usa could have opted to let USSR place nukes on Cuba in 62 also but chose to threeaten with full all out extinsion of the human race instead, and it worked.
Anyhowsers, yes what has happened in Ukraine is a tragedy. And as Luke points out, could have been stopped long ago if only we would have talked to that guy in Moscow a bit earlier and asked what he wants.
@Merlot. That may be a bit too optimistic, that the United States will now (after all these years) just give up time and effort invested in Ukraine. China do not have that much influence over the Kiev chiefs who been working closely with Biden and his crew for quite some time now.
What I expact will happen eventually is that sout-eastern Ukraine will become a sovereign nation, and the new west Ukraine will become a Nato + Eu member faster than fast. Alternativelly Donbas will become a new part of Russia as Crimea before it, however where the border will go is unclear.
The only reason this is not completely horrendous is that those areas are dominated by Russians and has been for such a long time now. So it's cool, in my humble opinion.

Zelensky can somehow be forgiven nomather if he do good or bad, in my view. I never liked the guy but I have more sympathy for him today than I had at the beginnig of the war. I think he has a group of very rich countrymen to answer too so basically he has never any rest. Dragged between pleasing his masters in Washington at one hand and his own upper class privileged oligharks at the other while all along pretend to be some kind of saviour and hero on the inyternational scene as he continue his world tour of money begging. At least he has some acting skills from before.

" -the author say and by that indicating that Putin wants Kiev under Russian rule. I see no evidence of that. Second example: he say that the confluct excaleted when Putin annexed crimea in 2014, without mentioning why he did (as a result fo the Maidan 'revolution'). So he is basically defending the pro Nato-umbrella argument.

Oxy with all due respect. Some on our side in (political) position is making the war not go away, they fuel it. There is another way called the negotiating table and I'd love your view on such an idea (talks now).

Bashing the low level of knowledge among us other bloggers is not fruitful.
