Most definitely Patty, and not just amongst your family members. We have all chosen different paths, and "family" is interpreted/structured differently for each of us also. However, being 'happy' is a universal goal or desire longed for by many, even more than having financial wealth.

JS, I truly think that the problem arises when a relationship is viewed as "battlefield", instead of "common ground". War vs Peace.
*The former approach causes and maintains division/separation, whilst the later encourages and facilitates togetherness/harmony towards achieving a shared goal.

The enlightenment that Feminism brings shouldn't be used to 'suppress' or 'disregard' men's needs, because it will be guilty of the same sins Patriarchy have perpetrated against women. The Recognition of, and increased Respect for women's rights and talents should be reflected in how we are treated by men, but is not an excuse to treat men any less than they deserve.

How can 2 people build a relationship when 'battle' is about destruction? A higher value should be put on the relationship and on each other, regardless of what society's "influencers" may tout.

Wow, that's a bit harsh Friendship. What I've heard here, is that out government usually takes 25 or 35 % of your winnings. Based on what you say, that would leave the winner of 1m with less than expected is he/she takes cash. I'd wait a bit to collect as much of it as I could, if I had a choice, that way I could afford to share some of it and still take good care of myself.

Well, good real estate options aren't cheap, especially newly constructed family homes (usually more than 1m). Newly constructed 2/3 bedroom apartments may start at around 350k, but they are scarce and not always in 'favourable' locations. The few that I'm interested in are around 500k, which I can manage once the transaction with the house is completed as I hope. These are usually government-approved, gated and manageable.

I'm not interested in a fixer upper because those I've looked at either need serious work (which I can't/won't afford), lack the legal documents of ownership and approvals from our national Town & Country government agency and or may be located in 'crime-infested' areas of my country.

JS, this is so true. When one has concerns for one's physical well being it could be very difficult to explore other needs, so have resources (financial, human and other). allows better focus on exploring and meeting the needs of inner (aka spiritual and mental) being. This I have experienced, as well as observed with others, at its most basic.

This has been my personal experience, and whilst I don't have myself as my own idol, I agree with what you have said about not allowing others to dictate/decide what you are worth, what you deserve, or what you can achieve.

And that's how it ought to be ideally, but you know that it isn't so in reality. So many 'unkind' persons make others feel inferior because of standards that are set by society, or elites and other exclusionary groups, that even one with a healthy self-worth can be negatively affected by them, and begin to doubt that worth.

The haves and the have-nots, the rich and the poor, the upper class and the lower class, the superior and the inferior (aka sub-ordinate, lesser, pleb, etc.) are terms and phrases that categorize persons according to wealth and status, and have always affected how individuals perceived themselves.

The best way to avoid being negatively affected by such labels is to know one's true worth, outside of the dictates of other 'men', because, regardless of how well-meaning they may be (or not), "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he".
