What's spreading like a wildfire in the USA is the Covid-19 virus

While there could be a tiny bit of truth in that, it is less likely in the way most people would expect.
After vaccination, people could still get the virus.
But, their now supercharged immune system kills infected cells.
So, it doesn't really spread that way.
But, lets say they become less cautious in group settings, with more shaking hands and other forms
of human contact with more than one person. They could become super spreaders to unvaccinated people in that way.
This is even more a reason to get the vaccine, if you haven't been vaccinated, especially if you
are also against masks and social distancing, and/or contact others.

Well, it arrived here on a lot more planes, boats, trains & cars and killed a lot more people in 1.5 years.

What's spreading like a wildfire in the USA is the Covid-19 virus

Millions of deaths fits the bill for an emergency.
There was urgent need for the vaccines and there still is.
The lack of substantial occurrence of severe side effects will hasten full approval in the next few months.

What's spreading like a wildfire in the USA is the Covid-19 virus

It's not unusual for viruses to behave similarly. It's what they do.

RE: Vaccination of children should stop now, today, in it’s tracks because it is so unbelievably risky

Well, some scientists would argue that viruses aren't really living, since they need a host to
have functions. But, lets skip that debate for a moment. Vaccines are designed to prevent the
spread of a disease in the body by jump starting the immune system to antigens found on
the pathogen. In the past this was actually done with attenuated, or weakened pathogens.
Science progresses. More recently only parts of the pathogen were used.
Most recently, mRNA coding for a tiny part of the pathogen is used.
Vaccines have been a very important addition to our defenses against illness.
Most of the side effects elicited have been very minor, like a sore arm being the most common.
The bottom line, is that science has made the vaccine safer & safer as time goes on.
Are there SOME minor side-effects. Sometimes.
Are there SOME more serious side-effects. Very rarely, and those are usually with people who
have had serious side effects to other vaccines. Those people should make sure an epi-pen is
available to counter that situation.

"Qualified" in what way ? More willing ?

I think all the new shots, whether booster or first, should include antigens (or mRNA coding for the antigens) against all known variants.

M - I think you mean, Folks SHOULD do their due diligence. It seems that many don't, or have no clue as to how to do their due diligence, or perhaps even what that means.

What's spreading like a wildfire in the USA is the Covid-19 virus

It only appears that way, because the vaccinated are mostly immune.
The mortality rate of the unvaccinated may actually be higher for (at least) the Delta newer variant
(if not others) because of the easier spread into an unvaccinated population.

Right, but the PROGRESS is the vaccines, especially the protection they provide, so that those who partake do not have to become a death statistic of the pandemic.

RE: WOMAN

B - your points are all more the reason, that women should rise up and not take it any more.
Progress should not be stalled because someone has it worse.
Progress should all the more be enacted, because someone even has it worse.

RE: Here it comes: Unvaccinated Americans Should Not Be Allowed to Work, Have Access to Children

I mostly agree with this assessment. However, there is no proof, that any individual unvaccinated person currently carries the virus. So, perhaps people who cannot provide proof of being vaccinated at least 2 weeks ago,
must test negative (at their cost) for the virus each day they report to work prior to being accepted for the job. In addition any unvaccinated person who does report to work and carries the virus may become liable for spreading the virus, especially if they are unmasked or come within 6 feet of someone else.

RE: A cute memory

That's terrific, that you have such a good relationship with her. thumbs up

It seems one mutation in the original virus perhaps led to the Covid-19 pandemic

Jac - I'm glad someone is smart enough to understand what I have said.

Jaa - that's a good statement. It became a finger pointing exercise, that benefited no one. When people FINALLY learn to work TOGETHER to solve problems, more will be accomplished.

RE: A simple question but no answers given..

I can answer that question, but won't because it is irrelevant.
The vaccines DO help prevent serious illness when getting the virus and THAT is what matters most.
The different variants do decrease the antibody production, but do not eliminate the rest of the immune response, which is also primed.

No one has microchips that can fit into a vaccine and if they ever develop them, they would only work at very close range (unlike a cell phone) and would show up in X-rays.
It's just another irrational fear.

It seems one mutation in the original virus perhaps led to the Covid-19 pandemic

It's almost the exact opposite of your statement. Millions dead from this virus and people are STILL attempting to minimize it. Indeed, many more people died, because of politicians like Trump, who knowingly intentionally minimized the potential for illness and death from the virus.

It seems one mutation in the original virus perhaps led to the Covid-19 pandemic

Jac - "could it have appeared at the lab" ? It has appeared in many labs. How else could they have studied it and sequenced it ?

If you meant, could it have appeared FIRST at the Wuhan lab and spread from there ?
We don't know. It could have. But, it seems unlikely. Think of nature as a huge lab. But, in nature there are no strict precautions, as in a virology lab, and a lot more bats and a lot more free-roaming animals and a lot more human interacting animals. Thus, the odds are, that it first happened in nature and spread in nature.

The problem is, that there is no forensic timeline, because the disease was new and spread through the air before anyone knew what it was. Indeed, it spread to other countries before anyone knew what arrived. It spread near and far before anyone knew what it was. It may even have originated in another country and first identified in Wuhan because it eventually arrived there, where there are experts studying OTHER Covid viruses.

We will probably never know.

What is important, is effectively controlling this virus and future viruses.

It seems one mutation in the original virus perhaps led to the Covid-19 pandemic

While I don't think it 100% rules out that it was created in a lab, it seems most likely that it wasn't.
I think it is too complex an issue for scientists to engineer.
If they were to intentionally change the structure of the spike protein, it likely would be more direct
than the subtle one, that involved sugars. They would have more likely changed the attachment area
to directly better match the receptor. But, I think the discovery better explains how it could randomly change to bind to other species naturally.
