RE: Confucius, ancient Chinese thinker....

Why? That seems a very sweeping statement.
Like saying Lincoln would be ashamed of Americans if he came back.
I think Lincoln would be very proud of what America has achieved since he died, sure a minority are braindead members of dubious cults, but in the main, the US has been a pioneering country. Same with China.

RE: Lloyd Austin Secretary of Defense nominee

That is a barefaced lie, you actually posted a pic of the statement "We are looking into having China to rely on for national defence". So you did see it. What you mean is that other than your unmentioned, there is no other media source suggesting the same sentence.
So yet again you are posting a lie and worse you know it is a lie.

RE: Lloyd Austin Secretary of Defense nominee

"President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Defense Department plans to take another look at the National Defense Strategy should he be confirmed, he told lawmakers on Tuesday.

Testifying in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee as part of his nomination process, retired Army Gen. Lloyd Austin emphasized his focus on the threat posed by China and said he would revisit the National Defense Strategy should lawmakers confirm him to lead the Pentagon.

“I think much of the document is absolutely on track for today’s challenges, Mr. Chairman. As is the case with all strategies — if confirmed — one of the things that I would look to do is to work to update the strategy and work within the confines of the guidance and the policy issued by the next administration,” Austin told Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.)."

RE: Lloyd Austin Secretary of Defense nominee

Didn't they learn anything from the lies and false information Epoch published leading up to the valid and secure election?doh
Lloyd Austin Secretary of Defense said nothing about China Military, he did say he wanted better equipment for US Troops.

RE: Photos of President Biden's Oval Office, and his predecessors.

Maybe hidden wall sockets, behind a false cover or in the floor dunno

RE: Photos of President Biden's Oval Office, and his predecessors.

Not sure that it is velour, more likely buffalo suede, which looks similar (in a photo) but feels very different.

RE: Fellow/fellowess Amateur radio operator comrades.....

I have not received any such communication from the RSGB, so maybe only select members of the FCC known for spreading malicious gossip and rumoursdunno

RE: Electric Car Batteries that can be recharged in about 5 minutes

But nowhere near as cool as a tuned 4.5L V8, that is how a car should sound, not a whine from an electric motor or two.grin

RE: Mega Millions...

You wouldn't need to spend it all, you could live a life never having to even think about the cost of something, when you die your family can inherit what's left, and they can also live an enjoyable life style.
But the begging letters are another thing, they would never stop, maybe some would be genuine and deserve some help?
How you determine which are really genuine or not would be a problem.

RE: Electric Car Batteries that can be recharged in about 5 minutes

Edison: They can use industrial-sized batteries to store electricity produced by the solar/wind generators. That would overcome your described problem.
As technology advances, so the efficiency of wind/solar generators will advance, together with better and efficient means to store the energy produced.

RE: "Guatemalan Security Forces Beat Back Caravan Of Honduran Migrants"

Déjà Vu, lol, didn't the same thing get reported a couple of years ago, with the same videos, same BS and ended up a damp squib?
Sad so many have dementia and short term memory loss.

RE: will tourism end ,,,

I don't understand this comment, are you saying having a vaccination to help stop spreading a virus and allow flying to another country is discrimination?
Ensuring you are safe to travel with a vaccination is no different to only being allowed to travel with a valid passport.
It is not discrimination, it is a safety rule, same as wearing a seatbelt when taking off in a plane.

RE: will tourism end ,,,

Travel has to return as so many countries depend on tourism to survive. I think Thailand has the best solution for many travellers, you need to agree to stay for a minimum of 6-12 months and proof you have the financial background to live for that length of time.
I think more countries will do the same until the virus is under better control.

RE: Any other men, or CS ladies who like women,.....

Why is someone from Malta any different to someone from another country? There are good, bad and indifferent in every ccountry.

RE: dead from 19

Sadly, heat seems to have no effect on the virus, as the Philippines, for example, has enforced strong quarantines even wit the average temp being 26-7 degrees, but the infection rate remains high.
Other tropical places are the same.
It really all comes down to individuals taking responsibility and keeping away from others as much as possible.
As for travel, there is not the need to travel for holidays ut some still need to travel to return to loved ones or their homes abroad. Given that the vaccine should be available soon and better isolation/testing done at airports etc, then I believe travel can restart soon, but with provisos in place.

Another plane goes down in Asia

I somewhat doubt money is the first thing relatives of victims think about Mic, especially regarding the death of children.
Thankfully, most people are not as money orientated as others.sigh
But it sure is interesting to see what some are thinking, gives a view of their ideology, often hidden by glib claptrap.
Awaiting more news, but no updates for over 20 hours, I assume they are trying to interrogate the black box.

The trials and tribulations of being in a lockdown in the UK.

I absolutely concur with you, I can cope with being in the UK and not travelling, it's the not knowing that gets to me.
I was a fool and should have travelled to Spain when I had the chance last year, At least then I would be able to explore regions not yet visited, and as borders open up, could go further afield.
The UK is just too small an island for my wandering feet.

The trials and tribulations of being in a lockdown in the UK.

Seafairy, why give up on your dream to travel? Sure right now travel is not really possible, but it will return, and you can travel to say Thailand, and then Japan, fixing a destination maybe is the wrong approachdunno
Just travel anywhere, and see how a new culture grabs you, the world is getting smaller and travel is becoming easier and cheaper, you are young so finding temp work in a different country would not be so hard, that will introduce you to new friends and possibly finance your next trip.

since it will never come true, I gave up on it

RE: Double you or double vee...

I can empathise as I feel the same about English, being destroyed by Americans, and even worse, American English is being absorbed into true Britsh English by some here in Britain.

RE: could you live in a van ???

Oh you also need to decide where you will travel, as that also has a bearing on vehicle type, in some places, anything over the size of a Ford Transit would create major traffic problems trying to negotiate narrow streets, while a smaller vehicle may struggle to climb steep hills and mountain passes.

RE: could you live in a van ???

I travelled around Europe in a Renault Camper Van, that had a shower and toilet on board, touring Italy was best as they cater for camping better than most, every town and village has a parking area with "toilet disposal" area and fresh water supply, some even had electric points. I lived in that van for almost a year, and still regret selling it when back in the UK.
The most important part is the choice of vehicle and you need to do a lot of research. Huge RVs are very comfortable but drink vast amounts of fuel, ok in North America where fuel is cheap, not so good in Europe or Asia. A small van or converted VW/Ford are cheap to run etc, but lack to some degree certain comforts. So it all depends on its usage, where you are travelling and available finances.

Oh Flyme, Just because you have no interest regarding the plane crash does not mean others follow your mentality.

There are a number of CS members who live or have a close association with Asia and they are interested in such news, It has nothing to do with positivity or negativity, and everything to do with compassion and empathy, qualities you probably never experienced.

Hears a thought, if you dislike my Blog so much, why not write your own, I'm sure you can write a fascinating insight into your own life.dunno

The trials and tribulations of being in a lockdown in the UK.

Seeing as the blog is about MY experiences during lockdowns it would lend itself to using I, me and my constantly.
As Jac said, the definition of a blog is mainly about a life experience. Being taken over by political and Religious claptrap is not what a blog is typically used for, hence the recent banning of political blogs.
But thank you for your input, it gives a clearer picture of your personality for potential suiters.cheers

RE: A Perfect Storm

It is a nice piece, but not when about to sleep lol

Another plane goes down in Asia

No idea, but as some time has passed since the initial report and no one has been found, I guess all are dead. Asia has a bad history regarding flights. Worryingmoping

The trials and tribulations of being in a lockdown in the UK.

Manila is not a nice city, and although it has had a major overhaul in the last ten years or so, I still try to avoid it. In my experience, the Capitols of countries rarely encompass the true ideas and local cultures. I found Bangkok awful, Same with many European countries, Paris is a prime example of a European city that is actually an awful city only just saved by magnificent buildings, but once you travel outside these places and experience the real culture and lifestyles, a whole new world opens up, especially in Asia.

The trials and tribulations of being in a lockdown in the UK.

@edison324:-
I used to have a place in Rhodes, would drive there in an old Renault Camper van once in Athens I would get a ferry to the island but found the stress of driving was more than I needed. Although I did enjoy the drives through the Alpes, used to take several days and would try a different route whenever possible, travelling to me is my lifeblood, I started when I was 4 going on leave to the UK from East Africa and the taste and love of travel has just grown and grown since then.
Travel is the worlds best university.

The trials and tribulations of being in a lockdown in the UK.

I think being vaccinated will become the new norm for travel anywhere in the world, won't be a problem for me as I would get vaccinated anyway.
Hope you are coping ok with the lockdown, here it is not so bad, but more a nuisance, as now and again I think I need something but as most shops are closed it just leaves Amazon or eBay and I have grown to detest this way of shopping.

RE: Polished chrome...

Chrome bathroom fittings tarnish faster than the old fashioned brass, so until that is rectified I'll go with polished brass or Nickel finish.
