RE: Gods personal letter to Cyrus

How do you know they are just trying to discredit you? Many people do have sincere questions and are trying to understand. If we took the stance not to answer because all those that question are just trying to discredit, that would be unfair, don't you think?

RE: Input from our American friends needed .....

It also matters where in the U.S. he lives, if he is a regular police officer. This article may help:

RE: Gods personal letter to Cyrus

Sharnah, it is not really fair to tell someone "just read the Bible" for an answer when they ask a question about something specifically. Unless I'm wrong, we're told God gives His Spirit to His children to help understand His word, or at least isn't that what Christians are taught? Also, what is she supposed to do, start at page one and read through everything until a bell goes off with the answer for her? You can quote Gods word, but it should be specific to the question, and clearly answers it. When Christians just spout scripture with no insight they CAN come off just as robotic persons with no mind, or original thought, of their own and I know you have one. If you don't know how to answer someone, you with your love for God, and with all your knowledge and understanding of Scripture, how are they to know the answer, with their lack of understanding? teddybear sad flower

RE: Happy People Have Faith

"What I am sharing is that happiness is a by-product of a life of faith, and that it helps us better to overcome traumas in our lives, when it is centered in the One who gives objective meaning to life (God)." Beautifully said. :) bouquet

RE: Torture and Sufferings, Perpetrators and victims

Great post re: psychopaths.

I have a close relative who might be considered sociopathic. She had the same upbringing and familial background as those who react to others normally. However, for some reason, she enjoys causing others suffering and has alienated many because of it. She is also a pathological liar...meaning she will lie even if there is no cause for it.

How can we avoid meeting a sociopath? I don't know if we can.

RE: Torture and Sufferings, Perpetrators and victims

Why do they lie? Was that directed to me? Here is a great article that deals with understanding the sociopathic personality:

RE: Torture and Sufferings, Perpetrators and victims

It's Jeffrey Dahmer, lol. teddybear

Some people are born sociopaths. They lack empathy and normal feeling for others, making them incognizant or uncaring of the pain and suffering they are inflicting.

RE: Scriptural reference to Gods love for man

Nice, MrWilling. I was just trying to answer your post about fear. As for living in an unknown area, as some other CS members also have on their profiles, there is a reason for that. And I don't have to explain it as its private - having to do with not being found.

RE: Can you spot it? Only 2 in 20 can

The reason people don't see it is they are looking in the line of numbers for the mistake. They don't think it is in the instructions, which are misleading.

RE: Apparently 10s of thousands to freeze to death thi

Don't wonder. Do.

RE: To convert or not to convert

True conversion can only come about through freedom of choice/will. One can not force anyone to truly convert. Jesus Christ never forced anyone to follow Him. It would be outward appearances only.

I would tell them honestly how you feel and ask for their support and prayer to choose. God does not want your forced conversion to any religion. Neither should they. bouquet

RE: Are men the head of the household?

Ajkaorjun: "and when i argued that if the unemployed man in question is ready to do the same ( cooking, cleaning, washing, childrearing, whatever done by the unemployed woman ), will the employed woman marry that unemployed man? and still there was a big nooooo!!!!!"

I have heard women say this because they fear they will have to support the man, especially if he has a history of on and off working. When women are young, they also need a man to be able to help support them when children come along - they want a help-meet, not another child, as some phrased it. teddybear

RE: God.Religion.Whatever.

I agree with Doc that many of the Bible posters do not allow any discussion and demonize anyone who even trys to dialogue and ask honest questions. I find this a great turn-off, and I still consider myself Christian. I have spent most of my life trying to find the truth, and have often thought it ironic that Pilate's words to Christ were of the same vein (i.e., What IS truth?)

One blogger here continually posts excerpts from other articles on the Web posing as her own, along with Scripture - not much original thought from her. She leaves honest questions unanswered or demonizes the poster. This is not a good witness. She also refuses to discuss a miracles she claims she received because the curious would "not believe" if she told them. Prejudgement and a turn-off. sad flower

Of course she had no comment about other life existing on other planets, and where would redemption come in there? So sad.

RE: Science Fiction

I watched Gravity recently as well. I agree that Sandra Bullock was a great casting choice. It kept me watching from start to end, and I too thought how scarey it would be out there all alone in the vast darkness of space. Unfortunately this one didn't have any aliens that I noticed, but it would have been great if SB
had contacted one near the end when she was calling for help on the radio. cool

RE: Happy People are Grateful People

Um, did you mean grateful? Greatful is good too, because it is great to be full of gratitude! :) teddybear

RE: You are not forgotten God knows your name

One of your best blogs, Sharnah. I like it best when you speak from the heart and the Holy Spirit speaks through you. teddybear TY. bouquet

RE: God healed my son of leukemiia

Doc, no, she didn't. Why? I was hoping for an answer too. And its not because I have already judged, I haven't judged, I'd really like to hear about a miracle. The world needs them and if she has real proof her son was healed, I know many would be blessed by it.

RE: "What does the Bible say about feminism?

Perhaps we are on the same page, many don't believe old testament laws still apply, perhaps the poster can answer your question then as to her viewpoint.

RE: "What does the Bible say about feminism?

Personally it doesn't matter to me at all. But if the Bible specified a custom way for men and women to dress in that time and area, still the cultural norm and time would apply. I sincerely doubt that God cares if a woman wears jeans to be comfortable in 2014.

RE: "What does the Bible say about feminism?

How would you define a man's garment? Styles of dress depends on where you live, different cultures wear varying styles of clothing For example, Scottish men wear kilts (skirts). men as kings and priests have worn long dresses or robes. Scripture does not say in definition that men wear pants and women wear dresses. It's a cultural thing.

RE: Secret to keeping your girlfriend.

You cannot base a lasting love relationship where two people really care about each with psychological game playing on both sides. The loved one also is not a possession. Not healthy, bound to be filled with drama and stress...what's the point?

RE: Your worst enemy may just be the one you can trust

I think hes very entertaining, a real individual with a unique viewpoint on things. beer

RE: How do you approach a girl in real life!!

Come up, be friendly and polite, make simple conversation but read body/verbal lingo if she's interested or not. Always have a card in your pocket with your number to give just in case! Don't push for hers if she's not comfortable yet (lots of women don't want to give their #s out at first). If at a club, ask her to dance or if she'd like a drink. professor cool waiter dance Good luck! teddybear

RE: I can't believe how selfish some people are!

Has happened to me a lot. Very discouraging. We can talk for hours and they wind up knowing very little about me, which they don't seem to notice! They think our talks are wonderful.

But take heart. There are people in the world that can see beyond their own border!

RE: bye

No one is "meant to be single", unless they are a eunuch or otherwise unable and were born that way.

RE: Evidence For The Resurrection Of Christ

I don't get it. Mary was told that she would give birth to the Son of God and Joseph had the dream, so they ought to have known who Jesus was. confused

RE: The New Testament Writers Trustworthyness Part 2

Probably the best answer that can be given, although imminently does often hold the connotation of soon. Thanx for the insight - its been troubling me, along with the other "New Atheist" allegations of Bible errancy, etc.

teddybear cheers

RE: The New Testament Writers Trustworthyness Part 2

I also have a question and please don't say 'to the Lord a day is like a thousand years'. :)

The apostles and Jesus continually said He was coming soon, and they expected it in their lifetime. 2,000 years can not be soon.
What do you think?

Many thanks!

RE: COMMUNICATION

Absolutely right on, simmo! I have read posts on this site and others saying, "it's just words on the screen, it's just the Internet, it's not real"....!!! ' come on, OF 'COURSE IT'S REAL. Are they nutz? You nailed it. Right on baby. thumbs up
