Your biggest asset is you. And you must look after that first and at any cost, your next is your kids, they need you, love and you love them.
For me, I know I have roles to play in life, there's me the individual, the profressional at work, the dad, the son, and the friend. (and in no order of importance). It's about balancing these roles so that we can be the best me in all these roles. if we under perform in one the others will slide too. If we focus to much in one area the focus comes off somewhere else. People say to me where do you find time to do everything you do? I say that there is only 24hrs in a day and I chip away at everything.
Like you I have found someone special on the internet. My problem is there's 10 hours time difference. which makes it a challange. It also makes it fun because I know when we can chat and fool around and I can make sure she is my distraction then. I can get on with all the other stuff when were not online, and knowing she's there becomes a strength.
Be strong,, be focused and let you love add to your life and make the whole thing bigger and better. Don't sacrifice anything, you don't need too. You can have a great life with great people in it. It's not one for another.
