I totally agree with your friend's statement. Its what the Bible says we are to do. I also agree with some of the posters; its easier said than done.
But, we are children of God, so we lean unto him for understanding and not unto ourselves. We ask him for the strength because the bible says that his strength is made perfect in our weakness.
So, rather than focusing on a person, why not ask God to help you with Agape Love and Mercy..those are the things He gives us, and how he loves us, so maybe we should ask him to increase those two things where we might be lacking.
Someone said something about forgiving only when a person is ...oh I dont know what they said..but they basically said that you dont have to forgive them when they spread lies and talk about you behind your back....I DISAGREE w/ that.....thats not what the Bible said, and if God had done that with alot of us, we wouldnt have any chance for redemption.
Interesting. I did see that someone said "just let your brother handle his love life". And I can see that point. However, its obvious you love your brother, and want only good things for him. You're right, its good to get things out in the open...but even then you dont have to fight...you can actually talk things out. So, just working w/ your perception of things, and your concerns...maybe if rather than avoiding their conflicts, they actually talked about them..maybe that would be better.
The thing is, we dont know. Maybe they ARE talking them out...but in private, in personal time, pillow talk, etc. Prayer is always the best solution in times like these, in my humble opinion--in times where you are concerned, but not really in a position to intervene.
The bible says no one will know the hour or day until it is upon them...and then, you wont have to hear it from someone else..you yourself will know about the return of Jesus Christ. But the Bible also doesnt say a thing about an "end" to the world. In fact, when He comes back, He rules for another 1000 years in total peace.
But then, you'd have to believe that the Bible is the Word of God.
You need to be ready to take it to the next step. The NET is like a grocery store line. You meet some ppl and all you do is smile. Others, you give the greeting of the day. Sometimes, you meet someone and it leads to more..a phone number, etc.
On the NET---you meet someone, maybe you start emailing, maybe you go to IM'ing...maybe, yall start talkin to each other on the phone. Sometimes, from the phone, you actually meet. Who knows where it can go?
But on the net---thats just the first step. Take your time, get to know the person you think you know already...take it to the real world, and good luck!
