RE: Do short men stand a chance?

oh dude I am pretty much your height - yeah chicks much shorter than us seem to go for guys much taller than us but it is to compensate for THEIR own complexes and insecurity. Go for someone your height or a bit shorter, women cannot handle it when the man is shorter no matter what they might say here.

RE: what do you feel about refugees

Like yours my country is subject to a heavy influx of "refugees" - they are really mainly economic migrants but we will keep using the word for practical reasons.

Here too they are given some free services and assistance and here too the locals have turned pretty hostile towards the outsiders.

Truth be told
1. Their impact on the economy and the job market is actually positive as they are taking jobs that we would not want to perform anyway (menial and low paid labour in the main) and the availability of such a labour pool enables business to keep its overheads low and invest more in research and business development thus often generating more high level jobs for the locals to take up.
2. The actual extent of their upkeep is a bare fraction of what our politicians waste away on nonsensical matters anyway.
3. Most nations have been economic migrants themselves at some point in their existence. We Maltese definitely have and practically all the settlers in Australia were ex convicts or economic migrants from all over the place. Is it not hypocritical now on our part to deny the same rights to others when we were so quick to demand them for ourselves in the past?

We all need to take a few steps back and consider our obligations to the human race and the legacy we are leaving behind by which posterity will judge us.

RE: Have u ever tasted baklava?

tried the bulgarian baclava and the lebanese one.. never had the opportunity to try the turkish one but I figure it is similar right?

RE: .............CONVERTING,-IN THE NAME OF FAITH?........

you are grossly misinformed mate

RE: .............CONVERTING,-IN THE NAME OF FAITH?........

and men too.. that is the case where Sharia is implemented ad verbatim. Then again we do have the death sentence in the West no? We also had some mighty cruel and unusual forms of punishment for our criminals back in the day too.

We might feel these sentences are too harsh but quite frankly ours are probably too loose. Admittedly I feel much safer living under our system mind you :)

RE: .............CONVERTING,-IN THE NAME OF FAITH?........

Islam is not a violent faith at all.. some misguided Muslims who are disillusioned with their lives and abhor the West have hijacked it as their battle cry. The most vehement opposers of fundamentalists and nutters of this sort are Muslims themselves in most cases.

Generalisations are always odious.

RE: .............CONVERTING,-IN THE NAME OF FAITH?........

The subject is delicate and calls for an equally delicate approach. I know converts in both directions and the general trend seems to be:

Islam to Christianity - because of a greater perceived freedom of thought and a higher degree of flexibility

Christianity to Islam - because Islam provides a much more clear cut and regimented approach to faith enabling the believer to know what is expected of him or her. Life is confusing enough these days and many relish a faith that tells them precisely what to do in even the most trivial areas of life.

This is merely my experience with a few personal contacts so I realise others may well have very different reasons.

RE: Respect for religion?

Trish you are entitled to your views of course. I myself struggle with faith everyday and I have to admit that many many things do not add up.

I see people who possess a blind type of faith and their lives sure seem simpler. Do this do that don't do this don't do that and soon enough you're up in the sky where you belong etc etc.. I envy them in all honesty.

I tend to make a difference between the holy books and the institutions that profess to represent them and instrumentalize them for their own purposes. If the latter are questionable or downright evil at times this doen not mean the former are too.

RE: They changed their roles-men and women of the West...

They have not reversed roles in my opinion.. they just both made their respective role more complicated and possibly unbearable.. hence the high percentage of break-up's etc

But I would rather discuss the pics on your profile - that is something worthy of lengthy discussion lol

RE: Hassan Nasrallah

Actually Hizbollah is quite separate from the Lebanese Army and in areas where it holds sway the Army dare not venture. Let us be objective.

RE: The U.S. Empire, the Mideast, and the world, part 7

I have visited Lebanon several times in the past few years and can assure you that the minute I entered Hizbollah territory it felt like a third world country whereas the Sunni, Christian and Druze areas seem to be doing much better. That seems to be Hizbollah's worst crime, perpetrated against its own people. Lebanon's policies should be drawn up by Lebanese based in Lebanon, not foreigners in Tehran (or Damascus, Jerusalem or Washington for that matter)

RE: Still just friends

RE: Why do men ask to meet and promise to call and then don't call?

True.. but I have to say that girls are also behaving just like men these days.. Wake up and smell the coffee folks you cannot all land a Davidesque supermodel.. most of you are not THAT hot either.. I realise that some attraction is necessary but on these sites it seems that it is the ONLY criterion being considered.. just my opinion..

Do you personally feel like a loser? (NOT what others think of you)

What area of life made you feel that way CC? Work, love, friendship. family?

RE: I Love you ....

Well that is a good question and everyone will give you their own answer according to their experiences and their bias. In my case I think you should only say I love you to someone if and when you really are in love with them - the kind of love where you actually start thinking of having a family or at least spending the foreseeable future with them.

Having said it the first time as described above it should be repeated every time the two part, they never know if it is the last.. and on a less morbid note it is good to remind them we still love them.

Do you personally feel like a loser? (NOT what others think of you)

well that is more a round up of the day.. imagine if every day you did that and felt you were just not getting anywhere..
