Sort of like Cooley's Looking Glass Self....but not.
I've always been fascinated with the intricacies of deceipt. I think most people would agree that a "lie" implies a deliberate intent to decieve, which may, or may not apply to the phenomenon you are describing.
The Great American Storyteller Louis L'Amour. I don't read fiction much, but I've read most of his works.
I also love Mark Twain, Melville- Bartleby the Scrivner fascinates me. I aspire to be like Hemingway, minus the drunkeness, and let's not forget Thoreau, and Whitman.

They can be funny, goofy, silly, or just plain beautiful if you like.

Country Singer Neil McCoy lives in Longview, and also singer/comic Rodney Carrington, and Actor Matthew McConaughey went to school in Longview. Several pro football players, I don't know of any famous bands.
I'm still employed. Personally, I think the "recession" is a myth. Everywhere I look, I see business as usual. People buying, and selling, going about their lives as they always have. The parking lat at the mall is as packed as it's ever been, on a Friday, or Saturday night there's not a restaurant anywhere in town without a wait to be seated.
Aren't the consumers the ones who dictate recession? I don't see businesses shutting down everywhere, mass hysteria, suicide. Maybe I'm blind I just don't see it.
And I don't watch enough television to have a clue what the top program is. Why don't you Google it, Lazy Bones?
