RE: Children in Ireland

it amazes me that you have people living in slums in India that are very happy and contented and yet you have people in ireland that have a far better standard of living and are depressed and end up killing themselves..what the hell has gone wrong..suppose its just the nature of human condition..you see all these famous people loads of money and they end up strung out on drugs and miserable..seems they have the perfect life and yet they manage to press the self destruct..people who have a lot are tragic...the less you have the more happier you are imoireland

RE: Children in Ireland

Why is it so that children in this country continue to die in State care?
because nobody really cares about these children..if they had loving families so many of them wouldn't be dying or would they? many have addiction problems with drink and drugs and we all know the problems that causes..its a vicious circle of hopelessness for them..

Why do vulnerable children continue to lack the necessary care in this country?
funding..it all comes down to money

Why do we find it acceptable that the most vulnerable families in our society are threatened with homelessness and live in abject poverty?
you get nothing for nothing in this life..harsh as it may seem its the truth..how does 1 escape abject poverty? they work and work hard at that..that the only escape

Why do we find it acceptable to find the treatment of children in the past in this country to be horrific while sweeping the current problems under the carpet
Todays problems are no where near as bad as what they were all those years ago..its a different country today ireland

RE: Questions on Irish travelers.Let your voice be heard !!

Thats the UK not ROI but you'll use the uk statistics because they suit your agenda..when the truth smacks you in the face you'll still plead ignorance sad flower

RE: Questions on Irish travelers.Let your voice be heard !!

A housing estate in Sligo has been ruined after a number of traveller familys have moved in..as a result of intimidation and anti social behaviour many of the settled familys have moved out in fear..windows were smashed..doors kicked in..mounds of rubbish everywhere..a rat and fly infestation last summer..more recently 10 houses were broken into and had their copper cylinders and pipes stolen for scrap metal..these animals don't deserve to be housed if they don't know how to behave themselves they should be in cages or sent off to remote island in the middle of the pacific sad flower

RE: Questions on Irish travelers.Let your voice be heard !!

There are 4.5 million people in ROI and you said yourself that 40k of those are travellers so therefore there should be very little travellers in Irish prisons if any but thats not the case at all..considering that there are only 40k tinkers in ireland and yet they make up a sizeable portion of the prison population
Travellers accounted for 8.7% of the prison population according to the IPS, and 4.5% according to
Traveller families. It is not possible to verify which source provides the true number of Travellers in
prison, and subsequent analysis was carried out using both figures.
Based on the IPS estimate of Traveller prisoners, the risk of a Traveller being imprisoned was 11 times
that of a non-Traveller (RR 11.0, 95% CI 9.8-12.3), and for Traveller women the risk was 22 times that
of non-Traveller women (RR 22.0, 95% CI 13.8-35.1) (Table 38). When calculated using the Travellerreported
prisoner population, the risk of a Traveller being imprisoned was more than 5 times that of a
non-Traveller
so you wanted facts there you have them

travellers - 0.5% of the population and roughly 8.7% of the prison population so if travellers were all equal to settled people there wouldnt be that 8.2% there

so statistics prove travellers are more likely to end up in prison and per person commit more crimes

RE: Questions on Irish travelers.Let your voice be heard !!

thats only 2 stories of settled people reaching the end of their tether and lashing out and deciding to punish tinkers for their bad behaviour ..If I did a good search now I'd probably come up with 20 or 30 negative stories involving travellers

Thats only a few links..there are many many more i could post but i think thats enough for now
wink

RE: Questions on Irish travelers.Let your voice be heard !!

I heard these stories on national radio...hardly rumor mongering is it..and if it goes out on national radio its more than likely the truth..our media are very balanced..we don't get fed propaganda here..this isn't north korea

RE: Questions on Irish travelers.Let your voice be heard !!

stinkers are masters of deception and are confidence tricksters..I heard a few storys today on the radio from people who have been burnt by these scum bags..all victims were elderly and easy pickings..during the time of the storm last year an elderly man contacted a tree surgeon or what he thought was a tree surgeon..this so called tree surgeon was a stinker/gypsey..the elderly man asked for insurance details and phone numbers are was fobbed off every time with later later I'll get that for you..they wanted a few thousand before even starting the job which the poor man paid..big mistake they cut down every tree in his back garden and left a trail of destruction..cutting down eircom poles and even smashing the septic tank..costing thousands in damage..the elderly man refused to pay anymore after seeing the trail of destruction but they threatened him with violence and said if he didn't pay up more they would be back later that night with a gang so this poor man living in fear just paid them to get rid of them..absolute scumbags is all they are
another story I heard was a group of 3 scumbags/gypseys who drove into an elderly farmers yard and offered to paint his sheds..the elderly farmer agreed a price with them and they started the job..big mistake...half way into the job they asked for more money and the farmer refused and again they used intimidation and threats of violence in order to extort more money from the frail old man..they took thousands on the old man..even went as far as to pull guttering off his roof to try and create more jobs in order to extort even more money from this man..scumbags of the highest order..if they drive onto your property take your shotgun out and and blow their heads off..the world doesn't need scum like thatthumbs up
