RE: Need practical advice - how to get rid of a rat?

Oh Lordy, Lord, I just have to reply to this request for a way to remove your rat.... I once lived in a block of flats on the top floor and the building was getting over-run by rats. A suggestion from one person was to get an empty ice-cream container and fill it halfway up with plaster of paris (the white powdery stuff) and put it in one corner of the patio and then put a water bowl away from that one at the other side of the patio. The theory being that the rat will jump into the powder to smell or eat it and then it gets thirsty and goes for the water. It then leaves its little footprints all over your floor telling you exactly where it is hiding, or at least where it's most likely to be hiding. Of course, if it eats some of the powder and drinks the water the mixture will form concrete and it will die - how sad! Never tried it and still don't know if this was someone's idea of a practical joke!!

RE: Pet People

Hi Wysterious, I know you're probably looking for replies from males rather than females but I can tell you if a prospective male partner has certain types of dogs (bulldogs, cross staffies, and big dogs with bad reputations) I just don't even consider them. I have a very tiny female pomeranian called Pixie and her needs and comforts definitely influence my thinking..... Buffybear

RE: who is going to want me now?

Hi TT - You've got a lot of negatives going on all around you and I've never been in a spot like you but I can tell you when I'm down this is what I do.
1. Write down all the positives in my life (like I'm young, good looking, I'm healthy, I love living, I'm not physically or mentally disabled to name a few)
2. Every morning I wake up I decide which wolf will win the battle going on inside me. The Good Wolf - with all the good things in life, happiness, love, kindness, caring and sharing. Or the Bad Wolf - envy, hatred, nastiness, self-pity, sadness, depression and revengefulness.
3. The Wolf that wins is the one YOU feed.
4. Make a list each week of everything you need to remember - the list has three columns and the headings are: 1. MUST DO 2. SHOULD DO 3. COULD DO. Then just go about getting those most important things done in the MUST DO (today)list one by one, step by step and in that way you may be pointing yourself in the right direction.
I can only wish you luck and love and if you don't go to church you may need to start leaning in that direction because that's where you may find help....

RE: Bucket List......

Yes Thread - it's good to have a bucket list (what on earth did we call it before that movie?) I like the sound of volunteering with orangutans in Thailand but I went to Bali last year and spent two days at the zoo - stroking the tigers and cuddling the orangutans but they are very naughty and very strong and one of them bit into my friends jaw and nearly broke it - she couldn't hardly open her mouth for two days - after that I gave away the idea of cuddling them again - they just don't know their own strength - cute yes but also very dangerous....
