Don't think it's going to cause us any problems Mr L.
The ash from this composite (Strato) volcano is actually heavier than what we get from a sub-glacier eruption in Iceland, the ash cloud will not travel very far. (Grimsvotn and Eyjafjalla in Iceland where both sub glacial which produces very fine particulates.)
Hmmm, a poet. Well I have posted a few in the poetry corner.
I did forget to mention where I was when I saw the Aurora
I was staying in Stykkishólmur which is in the North West of Iceland, A beautiful part of the country and some where I would like to re-visit. I have not been back since I was a child and would certainly hope to once again see the lights from such a Northern lattitude.
As a young child I was sent to spend time with my Aunt while my mother was ill in hospital, I was very upset and felt very lonely being so far from home and in a strange land. The first night I was very restless and could not sleep, I found myself stood at the window staring across the harbour and wishing that I was back in England. It was then through teary eyes that I first saw something magical happen, a wisp of green light slowly threaded its way through the sky like a snake moving through the grass. I remember being transfixed to the spot as more and more colours became apparent and the whole sky was alight with reds, blues and greens, all trying to compete for the greatest show on earth. The sky was alive and every movement was being copied in the still waters of the harbour, appearing to be both deliberate and graceful. The feeling of being homesick soon disappeared and every night I would stare out the window for a while and scan the horizon for their return. I saw them again several times before I returned home, however not once could it be compared to that first night. Now I occasionally look out the window and yearn to re-visit that place and experience the beauty and awesome glory of that dance once more.
When we post comments on topics we understand that our opinion may not be the same as another persons and this should lead to a logical and civil discussion, not ridicule or derogatory attacks on the person that posted them. There is a diverse mix of personalities and characters that frequent the forums and this will inevitably lead to strong feelings and emotive words been tossed about to further enrage personal conflicts.
I too would like a return to the more peaceful and tolerant times.
There has been quite a lot of hostility being vented on the UK forum lately which is disturbing to say the least. This hostility appears to be spilling out into several threads and detracting from the enjoyment of the forum for others not involved in the fracas.
Sometimes it is best to simply turn the other cheek which is neither humiliating nor retaliatory. It is rather a response of strength that says, “I will not seek revenge because I am stronger than that”. It also says, I will not respond in shame because I have dignity. My dignity is not found in if I can hit you back and hurt you but in my strength of character and personality.
I was thinking more along the lines of Colonel klink in Hogan's Heroes but that seems to fit just as well, so which one am I Mi-zaru, Kika-zaru or Iwa-zaru?
Us Yorkshire folk don't refer to hats as custard pie, we call them titfa's as in 'tit for tat' also Whistle and Flute is a Suit, Almond rocks are socks and just to be pedantic custard pie is tie.
"Got to my mickey, found me way up the apples, put on me whistle and the bloody dog went. It was me trouble telling me to fetch the teapots."
which really means,
"Got to my house (mickey mouse), found my way up the stairs (apples and pears), put on my suit (whistle and flute) when the phone (dog and bone) rang. It was my wife (trouble and strife) telling me to get the kids (teapot lids)."
Allo me old chinas, wot say we pop round the Jack. I'll stand you a pig and you can rabbit on about your teapots. We can 'ave some loop and tommy and be off before the dickory hits twelve.
An archaeological team, digging in Washington DC , has uncovered 10,000 year old bones and fossil remains Of what is believed to be the first Politician.
