I tried FB for a month some years ago, but I deleted my FB account. It's like keeping an online diary, no privacy. I see no difference between a blog and FB. I'm sure FB is a good thing for many people around the world. FB it's also a free choice.

It's true, trial and error or visiting/living. I'd say I'm somewhat familiar with your "English" too, lived and worked in Canada in my youth. I'd guess most Europeans are taught the British English.
No I don't think so HotrodLarrys. Swedes have been taught to write in the British way from early years! There are spelling differences between the American English and the British English.
Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself, and most people will be nice to you regardless of nationality. If you're travelling to a another country, you need also to be aware of the cultural differences. A certain behaviour might be acceptable in your own country, but considered as rude in another country.
