I have a younger brother who went through this, although I suppose I should say, is going through this. It has been months now, and he still chooses to wallow in self pity, despite my best efforts. My advice is give yourself time, do work through it, but ultimately don't choose his route.
I agree Ship. My views are strong, but I don't think I direct them at anyone on a personal level. I say I avoid those threads, but I keep finding my way in them.
There are times, lately, that I ponder a sabbatical until after, say, the election.

There's some middle ground. Obama usually opened with the area where he agreed, then cited differences. I saw things where I found myself agreeing with both, for the record.
