RE: In this big universe how intelligent are humans?

I don't have a dog but keep looking into re homing one "fingers crossed" I think that dogs are far more intelligent than some humans .........

RE: Why are there more cs rules for posts made in threads than for posts made in polls and blogs?

No! not at all Galrads. I've been banned from here once. I asked why and they told me why and I respected that and took that into mind when posting in the threads from then on. This is "their site" whether it be Blogs or Forums. They have the right to do whatever don't they? Don't you think that these Mods get sick and tired of all the complaints they receive along with having to monitor all the Threads and Blogs?. This is a "FREE SITE" for goodness sake. Think yourself lucky for this Free Site heart wings

RE: In this big universe how intelligent are humans?

But how do we know what may be beyond our Universe? We know about the black holes and such but we've only been able to go so far as yet and so what lies beyond that? We don't know do we? We know about the shooting stars, which are beautiful if we get the chance to see them. Meteors that may have burned out many years ago before we see them. Yes, I understand that they call them "Light Years" a great Rolling Stones Song grin but how can we say that their isn't life out there, whether within our Universe or out of our Universe? We mere Earthlings aren't intelligent to know at this moment in time.
I found this very interesting. We thought/assumed that the dinosaurs were wiped out re an asteroid and the gas that came off it but this finding I believe is awesomethumbs up This could be "false" however dunno

RE: Big power switch off.

I agree with it somewhat but I won't be turning everything off at the mains as I get a message through from the "life line" monitor saying "Warning, you have no mains power" and it keeps repeating it. I think they're planing on doing this switch off more than once, over a period of time/days, to cause "surges"? when people switch back on. I saw it on FB today. I doubt very much whether our Government will be bothered about it though....

RE: In this big universe how intelligent are humans?

But without the long hair laugh

RE: In this big universe how intelligent are humans?

I do believe there is "other" life out there somewhere but how do we know if we're more intelligent of not if we've not met them yet? laugh How do we know that the other life out there are not "monitoring" our every move? because we're not intelligent enough to know?dunno

I have a silver charm of one of these little guys grin I love him to "Bits" laugh

RE: Why are there more cs rules for posts made in threads than for posts made in polls and blogs?

I think that's totally different. That's up to each town ain't it? As this is a "Site" run by "whoever" dunno They make the rules so it's up to them. As I stated, if I wanted to know the reason "why", I would ask the Mods, simple as.....

RE: Why are there more cs rules for posts made in threads than for posts made in polls and blogs?

Maybe go direct and ask the Moderators? That's what I would do. first off grin

RE: Will the impending food crisis push more and more hungry people into Europe?

As I'm old and being out of the Uk for a number of years, I haven't kept up with Uk Politics. I very vaguely remember Winston Churchill. Only from what my late Mum n Dad told me and from looking up or watching documentaries regarding him. Maggie, I was still only in my early 20's so didn't follow politics that much, again, only from my Mum n Dad.

I think we all dislike politicians, no matter which "Party" they represent. Fact of life now. No matter what we say, won't make a difference until we have the chance to "vote" thumbs up

RE: It's been 9 years..

Ah but! coal wasn't going to last anyway, people were having gas fires and heating put in place. She did however allow Council Tennants to buy their Council Property at a much cheaper price "depending on how long you had been a Tennant for" Something that my late Mum n Dad did. The best thing they ever did as they could afford it grin

RE: It's been 9 years..

Ah! but the thing is, she did kept getting voted in, you can't change that fact no matter what anyone says. A "Belfast Lad" not an Irish lad or Southern/Northern Irish lad then? Well, where ever in Ireland he came from, he didn't succeed did he grin

RE: It's been 9 years..

It certainly would have been good to know grin She did have Reagan eating out of her hands laugh As I stated, she was PM from 1979 to 1990 so people must have kept voting her in dunno I dislike Boris Johnson and what he's done and still doing but I would never wish him "dead". To me, only kids say things like that. Very sad coming from some so called "Adults" crying I wonder how they would feel if it was one of their "Family" dunno

RE: Soviet leaders VS Russian leaders. Who was/is the best?

For goodness sake, give it a rest sleep

RE: Will the impending food crisis push more and more hungry people into Europe?

Exactly "winks" grin

RE: Will the impending food crisis push more and more hungry people into Europe?

Grow up and sort your own Country out rolling on the floor laughing

RE: It's been 9 years..

But she was Prime Minister from 1979 until 1990, so the people must have kept voting her in professor grin She had a long innings, aged 87, even the IRA couldn't touch her grin

RE: Could it really be "back to normal", now that Covid is no longer a serious threat?

Awww! don't leave out America teddybear lips heart wings heart beating

RE: Could it really be "back to normal", now that Covid is no longer a serious threat?

Yes! far from over, just because it's getting "weaker" doesn't mean that it's gone away. I feel so sorry for all the NHS workers these days. Having worked for over 30yrs working within the NHS and Social Services.I applaud youbouquet You all deserve a Medal bouquet

RE: (If it hasn't been polled yet) How important is 'prayer' to you, honestly...no cynicism please:)

I understand where you're coming from Pete. I have my own little understanding within myself. I don't go to Church, I don't pray. I just have my own thing. One of my best friends in Spain aged 79 was found on the floor in his apartment. His daughter messaged me to tell me of the news. Mickey was always frightened of dying and when I asked him why? He said because he was alone there in Spain. I told him to move back to the Uk many times to be with his family. Mickey was Mickey he just didn't want to do anything. I've moved back to the Uk as I'm not getting any younger and when I pass away I don't want the rigmarole of having to be cremated within 2 days in Spain. So here I am, back in England grin

RE: (If it hasn't been polled yet) How important is 'prayer' to you, honestly...no cynicism please:)

Beautiful bouquet

RE: Golly green

I'm sure if they want to talk, they could. They would find a way. bouquet

RE: Will the impending food crisis push more and more hungry people into Europe?

In answer to the title of your thread

" Will the impending food crisis push more and more hungry people into Europe?"

From what I've seen on the news "Tv" the Uk is doing all it can to help the Ukrainians and others. I'm not talking about the Government I'm talking about the Uk people/citizens that run Charities. They're trying their best to take over food/medical supplies etc....Our people are donating food/clothes etc.. every day to these Charities and then taken over to where they're needed. Where as if you donate money "I'M NOT SAYING ALL" but sometimes our Government takes a percentage of the money donated to certain Charities crying

I actually get lost now with Europe. Eastern/ Western Europe. Asia? How many Countries come under Asia? is it 48? I'd rather state a Country much easier for me grin I still do inches, feet, yards, miles, furlongs, chains. ounces. pounds, stones etc........Something that was taught and instilled in our minds at primary school. Luckily I was young enough to learn the conversion from £'s Shillings and Pence grin hijack

I just got carried away thinking about it all professor

RE: Today is international “no housework” day

Have you? professor

RE: United States

I agree with you on the "Gun Control" but if I lived there, I would have a gun in my house to protect myself. They have a right to protect their homes if need be.

Look at the Uk now! Ok, not so much guns but all the stabbings going on and a lot of them are by young teenagers and by both Black and White. You only have to watch the news regarding all these stabbings. Young kids taking knives to school each day. A&E having to deal with all these stabbings and young kids losing their lives and a lot of them are not from trying to rob anyone. A young innocent girl stabbed in a park whilst just sitting with a couple of her friends chatting and not drinking any alcohol whatsoever. She was a class A Student. It was a case of "mistaken" identity, the young teenager that stabbed her thought that she was in a " different drug dealing gang"crying
The Uk is getting just as bad now.

Anyway! Keep yourself warm Pete, now we've got this 50% increase in fuel bills crying I'm moving into my bedroom 24/7 laugh bouquet
