It's what the next wars will be fought over, wait & see!
I think every new oil tanker & even old whaling vessels should have to make 20 runs each to where the glaciers are calving into the sea & collect & haul that fresh water to places it's needed most.
Do this then they can go haul oil! Can't hurt!
Fight sea level rise & H2O shortages at the same time!!! JMHO
It's a shame about them coming to the road for the salt, but I can see how that would be a draw. We have Whitetail deer here & they go a bit crazy during rut in the fall. Then add to that hunters roaming the woods hunting, the deer jump out in front of vehicles all the time. Very dangerous for the deer & drivers!
I am aware of the Sami people, a vigorous & hard lifestyle!!
I too like venison, very healthy meat! I wouldn't mind getting a couple hides either!!! They look VERY warm! I sleep with the window open year round!
I'll be sure to keep a space cleared off on the roof for the flyers!
Merry Christmas to you too!! May all your wishes & dreams be answered!
I had to google Ms. Arbus.... nice photography..... interesting work subjects!
I think I'm about ready to get a 20 footer & give it a go for a year or two. I've already got the Bison hide & Icelandic sheepskins! All I need is some snowshoes & a lean-to for my saw!
Besides what's deep to a man can't be all that deep to a moose?
And can't the reindeer fly? Or is that just santa's?
Yes I know that deep snow can be lethal to wildlife & I wouldn't wish that on them! But what harm could 2 or 3 ft.(up to a meter) do?
There was a blizzard up in the northern Great Plains earlier this year which killed an estimated 75K to 100K cattle! So sad for the poor animals & a heartbreak for the ranchers too! I think the main problem with this one was the blinding snowfall & drifting. There were pics of the carcasses in drifts along the fence line & bare ground just 5 or 6 ft. away.
I know I'm being selfish in my wish for deep snow but I enjoy it & it's very beautiful!!!
I lived in Colorado a few years & the folks out there didn't forget how to drive in the snow from year to year. Besides everyone stopped & helped everyone that did get stuck. It seem like an unwritten rule/law!
Best wishes for the weather you'd like for your holiday season!!!!
Yes I remember you too! Nice to see you back! You've always been a positive addition to the forums too!!
I was unaware that this site had a group differentiation such as that. I really haven't looked around here much, I just figured everybody that is looking just all pooled together & shared the same fishing waters! hahahaha I guess it's time to peel off the blinders?
Hey Pom Pom Not all the trees end up like that! In my area there are collection sites for tree drop off. The trees are chipped then offered to the public for mulch. Some trees are collected by fishing clubs with lakes. The trees are then tied together & weighted with a concrete block & sank(sent to 'sleep with the fishes' ) for structure for the fishes.
I personally, when I put a tree up (over a decade ago) would buy a live tree & plant it in the yard after taking it down & out of the house. I have one in the yard over 20ft. tall! This, I think, is the best way to have a real tree.
Live tree, dead tree, fake tree, tree or not, I'd like to wish all a wonderful season to those that celebrate it in whatever fashion they celebrate!
Oh yeah, is that a Dracaena in the other can in the photo?
You might, if you haven't already, want to consider expanding your search to other sites with a larger population of folks oriented your direction. I personally would consider it a loss for this site if you were to leave! I think you have been a sound & upstanding member of this community for the 7 or so years I been here(even though I've been here on & off again)!
You are accepting of other peoples differences & positive in your approach to people here.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your approach of delineating things you are seeking in a mate, as you have stated that you would rather be alone than 'settle' for someone your not going to be comfortable with! I would venture a guess that you're in the majority of the membership(those that state that they're looking) in that approach!
I wish you & all others here the BEST OF LUCK in finding that which you seek! Of course, so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else or go against what they are seeking!
I think it's important to remember that the distance between any people is the same from one to the other!
If neither budges/compromises communication is impossible!
If one comes a little towards the middle of the distance between & the other doesn't give/move towards the middle too, then no fair communication can come of it!
The absolute best of both worlds can only be found in the middle! And of course, via truth & honesty!
So just because someone seems so far different than you, doesn't, necessarily, mean that you seem any less far different than them, from their point of view!
Wouldn't it be nice if WE ALL could put a little more effort into trying to get a bit closer to the mid ground? Perhaps we, might, be able to see that WE'RE ALL not really that far apart after all??
This, of course pertains to decent people, not to violent or hateful or bellicose individuals!
I wish ALL the BEST OF LUCK in your pursuits, so long as is doesn't hurt anyone else or force them to do or be what they're not!
I used to have a Red Bone Coonhound! This breed was for hunting raccoons, bears & puma in the southern US. The whole Coonhound line are some tough mo' fo' dogs!
