Hello my sweet friends... First let me just be thankful for all of you.
I have a roof over myself and two healthy 4footed companions, a good head on my shoulders, and the potential of a brighter day tomorrow. These are all wonderful things to be thankful for. I have been around the world, seen life in many forms, & have the ability to teach others to their betterment. Thankful things indeed. I have learned how to be alone without being lonely, to appreciate a simple meal, and how to give back. Great & small, all things to be grateful for.
I hope for all, things are going well and continue to do so.
I'm glad to hear the move was a good thing. I can't say Nc was a good move for me. It looks like I will go back to New Orleans for work next week. I had a long hard week leading up to Thanksgiving, so boy-o-boy am I thankful it's over.
I feel like one of the foundational pillars here, having been around since the forums were started... soooooooo... here's what I've noticed:
A.) There are many here who, for one reason or another, tend to be a bit shy or cautious in their real lives. To them, this online dating thing is a bit scary... a bit overwhelming. In time, hopefully they make a couple friends & eventually post a pic.
B.) Now, mixed in are a handful of devious souls who slither in to have a "good laugh". Loosely translated, they are lame keyboard romeos, shoving sweets into their gullets while attempting to see how much rubbish they can stir up without ever being identified. Bottom line, they suck & tend to make it harder for the nice ones.
C.) I have heard the job related excuse numerous times. These persons tend to be employed in jobs like security, educational, or highly social/political persons... & yes, their pics being posted could turn into a serious issue. There was a teacher who posted here, back within the first 6 month of CS getting the forums... his students discovered his profile. It ended up with him being dismissed for some BS about making advances on a minor. It was total crap, but the man lost his position as a result of being identified.
D.) The most common reason people do not want to post a pic is simple. They do not know if this online dating thing is really worth a go. It's a big crap shoot and many are simply jaded enough to not want to endure the amount of effort required to find other singles... possibly even "the one". We can only hope they lurk in these forums long enough to discover quality people really do still exist.
Being thankful...
