I've been off and on this site a few years. (2003 & 2004, and now again this year).
Never had a date off this site yet! Faceparty? Yeah, back in 2003, before it turned Nedsville. Love@lycos? Yeah few years back, had a few dates.
Tried CS few years ago, nothing.
Been seeing a gal for a few years, that ended a while back. So trying CS again, but...like a few years ago...nothing so far.
So far, near as I can figure...CS seems to be an alternative to online bingo. Sort of an online babysitter for adults. But checking out the forums (like a few years back) no one seems to be dating anyone.
I get loadsa responses from real nice ladies, fun, smart, good self images....but almost always live a million miles away. Most are on other continents.
One thing that's true of online dating in general: Sure, there are always those online who will be your best friend, soulmate or even think they've fallen for you, so long as your thousands of miles away from them.....but if you turned up on their doorstep (or even in their town!) they'd run a mile or slam the door!
Do yourself a favor and don't humour the timewasters. After a very few messages, it's time to meet for coffee.
If they're too far away, or not really available, or even not really up for it (too shy, too actually married, too full of BS etc) then don't let them waste your time. Go do something in the real world, who knows you might meet someone who likes doing the sames things you like doin'.
Dunno 'bout all you people, but I'm not gonna spend my life tied to a computer search-engine-ing up long distance virtual romances with people who half the time aren't really who they make themselves out to be.
And I'm not gonna spend my evenings or weekends with a drink by the computer using the forums as an inexpensive cyber pub. (No one is really that lonely, but keep doing it and you soon will be).
You're never gonna meet someone in your own house. And if you're gonna ever meet anyone online, there's no reason not to have that 1st coffee date within 1 week worth's of messages/email's.
I've done some research and I'm definately between 38 and 48 and I've looked all over the house and there's still no sign of any kids, or any evidence that there ever were any.
Looks like the schedule is clear to do whatever I want... Now, just to find one lucky contestant to give the tour of Edinburgh to...
I was out jogging and this question came into my head: Do women prefer to date men who are wealthy rather than dating a guy who has some free time to spend with them?
Or to put it another way...
1. A guy tells his pal, (another guy)...."I know this great looking gal, you should meet her!" The other guy says "Really? What does she look like?"
2. A gal tells her pal, (another gal)...."I know this great guy, you should meet him!" The other gal says "Really, what does he do?"
Edinburgh has it all. Royal Botanic Gardens are lovely now and all summer. Chambers Street Museum, Museum of Scotland, National Portrait Gallery, Calton Hill (good view from city centre), Arthur's Seat (dormant volcano overlooking the city), Princess Street Gardens, Mansfield Traquair Centre (Edinburgh's Sisteen Chapel!), & the whole city boasts unbelievable stone architecture. And all that's just the free stuff!
Google the images of any of these places!
Edinburgh Castle (amazing view), The Scott Monument (great view), Camera Obscura (incred low-tech real-time scenes of city), The Zoo, are all reasonably priced. Loadsa shops and cafe's. More pubs per square mile than any other city in Europe, probably the world. Great clubs and nightlife.
Google the images and see for yourself!
During the Festival Fringe...half of London comes up here, tonnes of comedy & music. It's where they all started, everyone from Monty Python to the Mighty Boosh.
If you're male, then Antartica is nice. (Antartica has secret tropical valleys which you'll find eventually if you just keep exploring for a few years.) Take your date there.

I don't always speak in a Scottish accent, sometimes coz I sometimes lived abroad sometimes for other reasons
in an old Scottish family (Hey, we're in MacBeth) have a Scottish name
genetically Scottish
born a UK Citizen (they don't have Scottish passports, yet!)
I think my crowd invented haggis, hand reared Nessies adopted RedCaps fed wild kelpies deep fried the first Mars Bar
We have several tartans to our family name (I won't wear any other tartan but one of my families ones, as in, I won't wear a tartan for any name but my own).
But, as I often don't speak in a very Scottish accent, about half the people, at least in Edinburgh, that I bump into treat me like I'm a foreigner.
I am a creature who fits that glass army boot. Edinburgh, Scotland. No accusations of childrenage Will never see 38 again Years yet before I'm not the wrong side of 48. My thoughts are many, complicated, profound, private and still mostly unpublished
yeah, I saw the 'poll' section...but when I started a thread, the drop down did not have "poll" as an option....I went back and forth and double checked, twice...nope... even tho there's a whole section of the forums called "Poll"/s...it just wasn't an option on the drop down when starting a thread.....oh the injustice! And now....the guilt. I am covered in a quilt of guilt.
So....had to just put it in the nearest forum category I could...left in the word "poll".
Maybe CS will sort out the issue of 'no poll in the drop down menu when starting a forum thread'...
Or, maybe no one will believe me ...and I'll be ostracised...eventually even run out of town by angry villagers wielding torches, pitchforks, rakes, flymo's, hockey sticks etc... (won't be the first time! It's ok, I'm a fast runner)... I'll just hide out in that old windmill on the outskirts of town.
POLL: Edinburgh, What did you do during the Blackout 17th May?
I confired with neighbors in the stair that is was a blackout... then with flashlight went to me Mum's house, made sure she was ok with candles etc...
gas fire and phone still worked...makes me want to stock up on candles, tea lights, matches and those mini-shakey-flashlights that don't need batteries...
You love her But she loves him And he loves somebody else You just can't win And so it goes Till the day you die This thing they call love It's gonna make you cry
I've had the blues The reds and the pinks One thing for sure... (Love stinks) Love stinks! yeah yeah (Love stinks) Love stinks! yeah yeah
Two by two and side by side Love's gonna find you, yes it is! You just can't hide
You'll hear it call Your heart will fall Then love will fly It's gonna soar
I don't care for any casanova thing All I can say is... Love stinks (Love stinks) Love stinks! yeah yeah (Love stinks) Love stinks! yeah yeah
I've been through diamonds! I've been through minks! I've been through it all... (Love stinks) Love stinks! yeah yeah (Love stinks) Love stinks! yeah yeah (Love stinks) Love stinks yeah yeah (Love stinks) I mean, it stinks! yeah yeah (Love stinks) It really stinks! yeah yeah (Love stinks) Love stinks! yeah yeah
"LOVE STINKS" from the CD "Love Stinks" by the mighty J. Geils Band
