RE: Are there other european vegans on CS?

I acknowledge what you say, and I certainly was not making fun of you.

You do not know me at all. I eat meat, but only organic meat, and there are some meats I choose not to eat. I buy everything organic, and would never eat battery hen eggs. I could go on, but I really don´t think you are listening to anybody.

RE: Anyone remember the starting of CS

2006 for me, but Ive had long long breaks in between.

I do still miss some of the members way back then, and somehow the forum banter was generally more interesting and intelligent. Of course there were arguments, that goes without saying with such a diverse number of people scrabbling about on forums.

Most people yearn for the "old days" though don´t they. laugh

RE: Do you think some people ask silly questions?

Yes, double nerd

OP, you have just joined the silly poll club. I mean that in an entirely non-offensive way by the way. wine

RE: The Story of Your Life .......

Thanks Cris. hug

Englishman, if you are doing all of those things then I´m sure your life will change for the better. I hope so. wine

RE: Do these HOT OR NOT THREADS really work

Personally I don´t think so. They tend to backfire on the OP as we have all witnessed.

They seem to me to be a cry for attention, so we should be a little empathetic I suppose. The problem is that we see so many of them, and empathy flies out of the window.

I usually ignore these kind of threads.

RE: The Story of Your Life .......

Gosh, that all sounds quite sad.

You know, I don´t know ANY "good" guys who have a crappy life. Only "bad" guys, or guys who have made poor choices seem to have problems. I don´t really buy this mantra so often heard here about the "good" guys being left behind.

As for me, it would have to be "How to change your life for the better in four stages". Divorce, new career, travel. It worked for me. I know that´s only three! The fourth comes a little later, if one is lucky...meeting somebody to share it with. However, that fourth stage often isn´t the deal breaker most people seem to think it is, rather the icing on the cake.... if, that´s what one is looking for.

RE: What is considered over the hill.

Well Kitty, ones physical health will undoubtedly have an effect as to whether one feels "over the hill". Much younger people with health problems will feel the same I´m sure. On th flipside, much older people than you in relatively good health will not.

Get swimming on a regular basis, that is the best exercise for tired and aching joints.

RE: Question!

Yes of course there is a difference. At least there can be. Being self-conscious may be for a number of reasons, not only because of a dissatisfaction in ones body.

I have known people who are very attractive, and have good physical attributes, yet they are still self-conscious. I have also known people who are not what is deemed as attractive in the often media controlled accepted sense, but still have great self-confidence and are never self-conscious.

I think self-consciousness can be attributed to emotional problems generally.

RE: Are there other european vegans on CS?

I was vegetarian for four years some time ago and put on weight, so I went back to including meat in my diet and quickly lost the weight.

I do think that there are advantages to excluding meat from one´s diet for a number of reasons, but unfortunately many vegetarians or vegans do not know how, and what to eat in order to sustain good health.

My view is that everything is fine in moderation. Meat, if organic is best, particularly if cooked well, not fatty or fried, and fish is exceedingly healthy.

I draw the line at a very popular meat dish here in Spain though....rabbit! laugh

RE: I was wondering if someone could help me out.

As others have commented, maybe she just got cold feet, or maybe she really is not interested and got herself in too deep. There are many reasons why this could have happened. Just be aware that there are a lot of mean people here who are not truly looking for anything, they simply like playing games, and in the process they unfortunately hurt others.

Pick yourself up, dust yourself down, and start all over again!

RE: Would you become an organ donor?

I always carried a donor card when I lived in the UK because you have to register and "opt in" Here in Spain there is an "opt out" system, and Spain leads the way in transplantation of donated organs

The following story highlights their success.

Actions taken by Spanish physicians following the death of a British toddler in Spain may have outraged some tabloids in the UK, but they also helped highlight the policies that have made Spain the world leader in organ donations.

Two-year-old Megan Jones died of natural causes related to a viral infection during a family holiday in Spain, and her parents agreed to the removal of her liver and kidneys for transplant purposes. When her body was returned to the UK, however, other organs were found to be missing. (Spanish physicians are allowed to remove organs without permission during the postmortem process. They must seek permission to remove organs for transplantation purposes.)
Heavy media coverage of the case drew attention to Spain's phenomenally successful organ donation policies, which have seen the number of donations increase by 142% since 1989. Not only does Spain have the highest donation rate in Europe, with 34 donors per million people, but it is has almost 3 times the rate of 13 per million in the UK. Other rates range from 20 in France to 18.1 in Italy and 12.2 in Germany. In Canada, the donor rate is about 15 per million people.

Spanish officials had considered implementing a policy of presumed consent to boost the number of donors, but instead they created the Organizacion Nacional de Trasplantes (ONT), a network of transplant coordinators in 139 intensive care units across the country. ONT professionals identify potential organ donors by closely monitoring emergency departments and tactfully discussing the donation process with families of the deceased. (With presumed consent, people are assumed to be willing organ donors in the event of their death unless they or their families had specifically stated otherwise.) According to the ONT Web site, the number of kidney transplants from cadaver organs has risen from 1477 in 1992 to 1998 in 2002. During the same period, the number of liver transplants rose from 412 to 1003, pancreas transplants from 26 to 69 and heart transplants from 254 to 310.

A survey by Spanish researchers found that of 200 families that declined to have their relatives' organs donated, 78% changed their mind after the process was explained in detail.

Spain's success has attracted attention across the EU. In September, officials from 6 countries met in Frankfurt to discuss transplantation and agreed upon a statement calling for governments to increase donations toward Spanish levels.

RE: 1-10 how cute do you think i am

Why do you want to know who finds you cute here on the forums? There are hundreds, maybe more people who post here, and to be honest, they will all give you a glib answer...yes you are cute, (often awarded to the new members of the site) or not. Your best bet is to ascertain the answer to you question by who actually contacts you. This unfortunately is solely based on your profile and pictures.

At least until somebody decides to speak to you or meet you and finds out the real you.

RE: things that make you smile

Lots of things make me smile, but more often than not it is my students who do so.

We have such great fun in our classes, and that is why I smile every day. I love my job.

RE: Ladies only! What annoys you the most about a guys profile?

Cougar? Not at all. My boyfriend is the exact same age as me. I´ve never been truly interested in much younger guys. Though the opportunity has arisen on occasion, and I have taken it. grin Without any serious expectations on my part I have to say.

rolling on the floor laughing Thanks, I needed a curve ball actually.

RE: Can you remember the first time you were ever dumped and how did you react to it?

I can honestly say I´ve never been dumped, neither when I was young nor as a divorced adult. However, I do think there is a big difference between this happening during adulthood and the relationships formed when younger, even though they may still be classed as as adulthood. I´m thinking of middle-aged folk here.

Adults who have "gone through the mill" and are more....well can I say desperate to find somebody? are often distraught. Younger people generally know, after a short time of mourning, that there is always somebody "around the corner". that is the beauty of youth!

One´s options decrease the older one gets. Fact of life.

RE: Ladies only! What annoys you the most about a guys profile?

Can´t say I´ve notice any jewellery on profile pics, let alone earrings. However, in real life an earring doesn´t bother me, though medallion men I DO dislike.,,oh and shirtless pics under the age of 30, with or without gold chains around their necks!

Not that I´m at all attracted by shirtless pics of young men by the way!

"Feminize???" That is a VERB JD.

Do you mean feminine?

Correct grammatical communication may be the reason you are so misunderstood.

If it was simply a typo though, please accept my apologies. However, somehow I doubt it was.

RE: Ladies only! What annoys you the most about a guys profile?

rolling on the floor laughing As I said, I din´t think he was hitting on me at all.

I was just comparing notes and opinions from one English teacher to another.

RE: Ladies only! What annoys you the most about a guys profile?

Thank you.

You should also know as an English teacher that words have different meanings, and it is your duty to explain to your students that "kid" does not only refer to a baby goat. If you encourage your students to look words up in the dictionary, as you should at times, then they will find a few definitions of "kid". Whether you like the term or not has no relevance to what you should be teaching your students.

In the same way you would explain the difference between American and British English...I hope.

I did not think you were hitting on me in the slightest by the way.

RE: Ladies only! What annoys you the most about a guys profile?

All I can do is sigh

Grow up JD.

RE: have you found romance on this site?

No. I did find a man who is a sweetheart, and his name is ooby dooby, but as I always believed, and now know, real life is the only way, at least 99 per cent of the time, to find true love.

There are exceptions as we have seen here on CS, but they are VERY few and far between.

Congrats again to those I know who have ...Petal and Jesse, Ambrose and Grammar Girl, Merky and Slim, Kissme and Eric, and our grand couple, Sheila and Ray. Oh and our banned couple, Sommer and Captain...still together, despite the odds betted against them!

Still, it´s slim pickings don´t you think?

RE: Ladies only! What annoys you the most about a guys profile?

Only to be expected from somebody who I disagreed with once.

Be a man, not a child.

RE: Ladies only! What annoys you the most about a guys profile?

Thank you for believing me. laugh I am so grateful.

Not that it is any of your business, but he is a doctor, specialising in male health. He is also a man who respects women, unlike you it seems.

If you need any medical advice just call JD, and I will run it past him. rolling on the floor laughing
