I think perhaps you misunderstood my first post, but I take full responsibility as it´s clear as mud when I read it back!
The age difference wasn´t so much, eight years, but I was only 16 and had a lot of growing up and changes to experience, more than he did. That difference in age caused a few hiccups, but lessened a little as I grew older. However, I found that despite loving him, and he me, we really had very little in common after 20 odd years.
It was difficult for him watching me grow up and change so much, I know that, and he gave me the freedom to do so, for which I will always thank him.
The subsequent relationship with the Spanish man failed because of his jealousy, as I said, but he was 11 years older than me and perhaps that had a bearing on it also.
I´ve always preferred older men, but maybe I should set my sights in the other direction?
My occupation without a doubt. I am not religious. However, last year I had classes with a young priest who eventually moved to Estonia, but still writes to me today. I also had a group class with 15 Columbian nuns who invited me to their home for dinner on a number of occasions.
I cannot separate my occupation from religion here in Spain. That is fine by me.
