RE: US troops urinate on the dead bodies of taliban soldiers

Not a nice thing to do but they were dead.dunno It would have been worse if they were POW's but I think its been blown out of proportion....Far worse things are happening in these wars.

RE: beware this man

What are you talking about??? Brave???? Picture??? WTF are you on about? For saying the woman has a right to warn others? Why do you think you know best? You really do think your opinions are solid gold don't ya?? Pompus git.

I am sure she knows what she is doing and if they guy robbed her like she says I can't see him dragging her through the courts for bringing his good name into disrepute!!! Why can't someone disagree with you without you getting all on your high horse? Get a life will ya!roll eyes

RE: beware this man

Who said this was a court of law??? If he robbed her and she knows her robbed her then thats all the evidence she needs...She can post what she wants about him....By your rules she would have to submit evidence before warning other women???

And if she said to go private how many women would think its a guy they like????? If a woman likes a guy she would not think he could do that so she would not bother private mailing her? But giving the alies e mails he used and cover story may ring a bell and help some other woman not find herself in that situation.

RE: beware this man

She gave the e mail name he is using and the alies names he was using. She also gave his M.O and cover story....she actuallu gave a lot of info that another woman may see and recognise.

RE: beware this man

If it was a lie I would not be happy...If this happened he deserves his name published....Again I am taking her at her word...and if this diod happen you or I have no right to tell her she can't warn others. Until you can prove to me she is telling porkies then I will stand by her right to warn other women.

RE: beware this man

You see you are working on the presumption they are lies...Me I am taking the woman at her word. Neither of us know for sure,,,But what I do know is that if this did happen to a woman on here she has ever right to warn other women weather you or I like it or not. handshake

RE: beware this man

Well if she was scorned she would use one name I guess....Name the person...not 2 or 3 names.
And I don't know but I don't, I will take her at her word. I don't think its irresponsible for a woman to put this story up if it has happened. It could save another woman from something far worse!

We don't know if most things posted on threads are true on this site so thats not an argument really. We have to take people at their word.

RE: re beware this man

That girn was murdered in Dun Laoghaire and a man of that name is from Dun Laoghaire...so I suggest you contact their Garda station if you want to report it.

RE: water......

We would not exist....and neither would any life form on earth....Humans are 80% water.

RE: Are Americans Dumb?

Well I lived on the West Coast for a while and I just think it's an insular country. It's not the peoples fault but their media is not set up to inform them about world affairs on a large scale. So in my experience they are not very knowledgeable about the rest of the world because they simply are not given the information the rest of the world get readily.....But maybe in the internet age where info is more available this will change....Or maybe it wont.

RE: Are Americans Dumb?

Knowing a lot of general Knowledge does not make a person intelligent.....much the same as not knowing it does not make a person dumb....I am sure the IQ range in the US is pretty much the same as anywhere else in the world.

RE: Are Americans Dumb?

I dont know......I haven't met them all. roll eyes

RE: Alcoholism

I know...I said that at the end of my post.

RE: Alcoholism

Your GP has to help by law. A family member of mine went to the GP looking for help and he originally told him he would do nothing....My family member called the HSE advice line and they told him the GP MUST HELP. So he went back to the GP and after a couple of phone calls the GP had to prescrible him a detox course of pills. Took a while be he got there. He is sober 4 years now and doing great! Hope this helps.

Best of luck. But remember a person can only be helped when they are ready for it. Until then they will fight you every step of the way. sad flower

RE: Iraq: What the Americans leaving behind?????

Over 100,000 Iraqi CIVILIANS died too!

RE: Iraq: What the Americans leaving behind?????

Civil War is on the way.moping

A wave of attacks in Baghdad Thursday killed 27 people as Iraq faced a political crisis, with its vice president accused of running death squads and the premier warning he could break off power-sharing.

The apparently coordinated blasts, which left at least 133 people wounded, were the first major sign of violence in a crisis that has threatened the country's fragile political truce and heightened sectarian tensions.

Says it all really. blues

RE: What is the most annual leave you have accrued.

Yes...Every worker by law must get written terms and conditions of work after being employed for 2 months. It does not matter what type of job you have. These conditions protect both the worker and employer.

RE: What is the most annual leave you have accrued.

SOMETHING FOR NOTHING? How?

Ireland economy is in the toilet because of right wing politicans and property developers / Bankers. It is nothing to do with the ordinary workers. Maybe try reading up on it before commenting!

And why shouldn't workers have rights? Why should employers be able to treat people like crap and hire and fire at will?

Why do they stay???

I was in the post office today dropping off the offices Christmas Post and it was packed. I realised it was Wednesday and a lot of people were collecting their dole. I normally do it on a Friday but I am not in this Friday.

Anyway I noticed a large percentage of the people collecting their dole were Polish and Eastern European. My question is why are they still in Irealnd? They came here to work and now obviously can't find work...So why not go home?

Ireland has an unemployment rate of 14.5% at the moment. Greece, Lativa and Spain only have higher rates at the moment. Poland is 9%, Estonia is 11%,Romina is 7.3%. So this suggests they would have a better chance of finding work if they went home! Also they can bring their stamps collected with them so they can claim their benefits in their own country....So why stay?????

I just want to say I know these people have the right to stay...I know they paid tax so they have the right to the dole...I am not questioning that. All I am saying is if I went abroad to work, then found myself unemploed in a country with a higher rate of unemployemnt than at home, I would head home....Does that not make sense???dunno

RE: What is the most annual leave you have accrued.

Thats disgracefull! Thats means employers can treat an employee how they wish. I could not work under those conditions.

We have very strict employment laws in Ireland. Employers must give an employee a reason for sacking them if they have been employed over 12 months. You can't work more than 48 hours a week by law. You must get written terms and conditions or work from an employer after 2 months. And you must get at least 45 mins break for every 8 hours worked.

Thats just a few rules employers must abide by...there are plenty more.

Worlds most charitable countries!

I am sure if you re phrase that in English it will make sense to someone. laugh

Worlds most charitable countries!

Yes....The poll is based on charitable donations of time and money by ordinary people.....Not the government foreign aid.

Worlds most charitable countries!

The World Giving Index has ranked The US number one in the world for charitable donations. This just proves the ordinary men and women in the US are good people. And the far right, every man for himself fools who post on here are not indicative of US society or thinking.

Ireland has been ranked the most charitable country in Europe in 2011 and the second most charitable nation in the world.

Money, time and helping strangers were measures used to decide the ranking Despite the economic turndown Ireland has been ranked the most charitable country in Europe in 2011 and the second most charitable nation in the world, in a newly published World Giving Index from the UK's Charities Aid Foundation.

When you consider the economic trouble Ireland and its people are in economically I am very proud we still take time to think about those less fortunate.

Giving money, volunteering time and helping strangers were the measures used to decide the ranking.

Gallup surveyors found 75% of people here gave money, 38% volunteered time and 65% helped a stranger.

The UK is ranked second in Europe.

RE: What is the most annual leave you have accrued.

Is that legal???

In Ireland a company by law must give an employee 1.5 days paid leave for every month worked. So the least amount by law an employee can get is 18 days annual leave per year.

RE: What is the most annual leave you have accrued.

Where I work at I have two hundred work hours a year to use. They will pay us or buy back eighty hours of it at the beginning of the new year if we have not used it. But the other three weeks are a use it or lose it situation. I feel happy to have any. Some people here have jobs without paid holiday time.[/quote]

RE: What is the most annual leave you have accrued.

I get 25 days paid leave every year plus all Bank Holidays and good Friday. I also get 4 personal days that can be taken at my own expense. I can take my hols when I want and how I want as long as I give my employer enough notice.

RE: N Korean leader Kim Jong-il dies

Nothing will happen. His son will take over and there may be some internal rumblings while he consolidates his power. The Chinese won't let him cause a stir on the world stage as they don't want their economic takeover of the world stalled for any reason.

RE: drink

I see a lot spend money on taxis.....I presume there are no buses in the area?

A bus into town is only 2.50 and the night bus home is about 6 Euro.....So that should cut your costs.

More money for drink then!
laugh cheers

RE: Queen's income frozen

Could it? Do rich people or Presidents have aides that follow them around especially to tell people how they must greet them? The queen in the UK has such people....they instruct women to curtsey and men to bow....and instruct you not to speak unless she speaks to you first. Talk about being trained and treated like a dog. laugh

But as I said....I dont live there so its none of mu business. I just dont see the attraction myself.
