RE: WHAT'S IN YOUR FOOD?

Have you read the book by Adria Vasil called" your guide to the most environmentally friendly information, products, and services in Canada-Ecoholic (when your addicted to the planet)" Its absolutely disgusting what some commercially produced foods have in them and we , the consumer, are not informed. Even regulation of items like our vegetables are not protecting us from multiple source contamination of toxins and poisons in low doses. We, the consumer, have a responsibility to educate ourselves to dangerous companies before supporting their practices with our money and purchases.peace

Do you know a fool?

I do like Mark Twains as well, but, is than not a foolish act just an inappropriate action, or idea. One which could be made from ignorance as easily as it could from malice? And while certainly any malice act is unacceptable, if it is made from ignorance should we not be more forgiving towards “the fool.”

Do you know a fool?

Thanks to a post by another CS member, and the many unusual responses, a discussion on being able to identify a fool came up. I am curious what you all may think defines either a fool, or a foolish action? Is foolishness the same as ignorance?

Buddha teaches:

Long is the night to the sleepless; long is the league to the weary. Long is the worldly existence to fools who know not the Sublime Truth.
Should a seeker not find a companion who is better or equal, let them resolutely pursue a solitary course; there is no fellowship with the fool.
The fool worries, thinking, “I have sons, I have wealth.” Indeed, when he himself is not his own, whence are sons, whence is wealth?
A fool who knows his foolishness is wise at least to that extent, but a fool who thinks himself wise is called a fool indeed.
Though all his life a fool associates with a wise man, he no more comprehends the Truth than a spoon tastes the flavour of the soup.
Though only for a moment a discerning person associates with a wise man, quickly he comprehends the Truth, just as the tongue tastes the flavour of the soup.
Fools of little wit are enemies unto themselves as they move about doing evil deeds, the fruits of which are bitter.
Ill done is that action doing which one repents later, and the fruit of which one, weeping, reaps with tears.
Well done is that action doing which one repents not later, and the fruit of which one reaps with delight and happiness.
So long as an evil deed has not ripened, the fool thinks it as sweet as honey. But when the evil deed ripens, the fool comes to grief.
Month after month a fool may eat his food with the tip of a blade of grass, but he still is not worth a sixteenth part of those who comprehend the Truth.
Truly, an evil deed committed does not immediately bear fruit, like milk that does not turn sour all at once. But smoldering it follows the fool like fire covered by ashes.
To his own ruin the fool gains knowledge, for it cleaves his head and destroys his innate goodness.
The fool seeks undeserved reputation, precedence among monks, authority over monasteries, and honour among householders.
“Let both Laymen and monks think that it was done by me. In every work, great and small, let them follow me”--such is the ambition of the fool; thus his desire and pride increase.
One is the quest for worldly gain, and quite another is the path to Nibbana. Clearly understanding this, let not the monk, the disciple of the Buddha, be carried away by worldly acclaim,but develop detachment instead.

RE: 81 rules of the toa

The Self
Easy to do are things that are bad and harmful to oneself. But exceedingly difficult to do are things that are good and beneficial.
Whoever, on account of perverted views, scorns the Teachings of the Perfected Ones, the Noble and Righteous Ones—that fool, like the bamboo, produces fruits only for self-destruction.
By oneself is evil done; by oneself is one defiled.. By oneself is evil left undone; by oneself is one made pure. Purity and impurity depend on oneself; no one can purify another.
Let one not neglect one's own welfare for the sake of another, however great. Clearly understanding ones own welfare, let one be intent upon the good.
the Tao

the bible also states to: "love thy neighbor", " let he who hath not sinned cast forth the first stone" i find it most interesting that those who spout out religious ideals are often the greatest offenders to that which they preach.

1) You are given an 8 gallon pail and a 5 gallon pail only . How could you obtain exactly 2 gallons of water in one of the pails?

2) Two strings hang from the ceiling but are too far apart to allow a person to hold one and walk to the other. On the floor are a book of matches, a screwdriver, and a few pieces of cotton. How could the strings be tied together?

RE: Quiz

lol, it took close to 15 min and alot of paper,dancing its similar to questions we recieved in a reductive reasoning classconfused Heres one for you all:)

A tumor was located in the interior of a patient's body.
The treatment to destroy the tumor involves radiation rays.
The treating doctor wants to prevent the rays from destroying the surrounding healthy tissue.
As a result the high-intensity rays could not be applied to the tumor along one pathway without cusing significant damage.
However, high intesity rays are needed to destroy the tumor, so applying a low-intensity ray would not succeed.

How should the doctor treat their patient?

i will let ya know after work later today

RE: Quiz

hhmmm for clarity I will label each person 1 through 4:
Person one = 1min man
Person two = 2 min man
Person 3 = 5 min man
person 4 = 10 min man

P1 and P2walk accross = 2 minutes total
P1 walks back = 3 minutes total
P3 and P4 walk accross = 13 minutes total
P2 walks back = 15 minutes total
P1 and P2 walk accross =17 minutes total

You could also switch the order of the 1 min man and the 2min man for the initial return as long as they both start out and one returns so in the end they are the last two togo across.

wow that one was hard, I think the smoke is still comin out of my earscheers hug peace

RE: Who are you

I Believe I have posted this before but as you have asked, I shall do so again. The followig is something iwrote just after the breakdown of my 7 year marriage and sometime during the 4year separation war.

Who am I?

I am a HE,
or perhaps a SHE,
though quite certain I am, that I am a HE corporally.
Though, thats not enough; I thinks,
to know the nature of Ones' matter.
To measure the latter,
by means of zeitgeist chatter,
is no Means, by no means,
effectively explicative of me.
That Me; who is He, and HE that is so apart of ME.
If I am not out there, then where do...... “ I ” .......begin?
In here, I thinks, this undefined local within.
For I am alive in here! The there where none can see,
where I alone reside, and ultimately must BE?!?
As I sit now pondering the credulity
of this I, who is comprised in me,
I come to see unquestioningly
that Me is developed from HE:
the HE who travels the waters of life;
the HE who one day hopes to find a wife;
the HE who longs for simplicity;
the HE who dives deeply in the See;
the He who does what I will;
the He who vows,
the blood of innocence by my hands shall never spill;
the HE who loves learning something new each day;
the HE who can make mistakes with the words I say;
the HE who thrives on a genuine friendship;
the HE who values honesty and respect with every step.
I too am HE; who's heart does know,
the sorrow of loves dying glow.
And though, no fault or malicious intent was made,
I AM HE Who played his part in letting if fade.
In the end I have to concede
that I alone am HE responsible for my deeds.
And though all these things I may BE,
there is soooo much more, yet hidden, to see.
While there be more to HE,
ultimately all of it becomes a part of Me.
That me........ who is .........I !!!,
THAT I who is He?
HE IS ME AND I AM JC
